In addition to their clear, on point verses, you get a captivating hook and a ridiculous, unique beat. I’ma be bumpin’ this more and at high volume in the very near future. Down below, predominantly R&B altho you got some hip hop featuring Busta Rhymes, Stat Quo, & Young Jeezy. There’s a ton more unreleased Ne-Yo trax that are all solid, but nothin’ special compared to some of his instant classics on his albums. Shouts 2 Bullet for sendin’ this thru this morning, another HOT track featuring himself and another Chi rapper from his crew, Lottery! The lyrics are really on point and are emphasized by their flow as they slow it down, which matches a beat that’s more mellow than a banger. Def check that out above as well as a couple trax f/ another virtually unknown Chicago rapper, DP Da Phranchise. “The City” f/ GemStones has been out for almost 6 months now, but the CDQ version just hit the web via RubyHornet as well as another track from DP’s upcoming mixtape.
And be sure 2 check out some more hip hop below f/ Lil’ Wayne (who recites the entire alphabet… still baffles me how ppl think he’s the GOAT), Gym Class Heroes, Cassidy, Lloyd Banks, and Young Buck and the latest video premiere from the singer, Brandy! Enjoy!
Another hot track from Trey Songz, as he adds his flava 2 the current #1 single in the country - T.I.’s “Whatever You Like”! Dirty lyrics are abound and delivered nicely… still doesn’t compare 2 the T.I. original, but I still like this version and will keep it in my select rotation for sure. Down below a few more NEW trax f/ the various artists listed below, but I should also draw attention 2 the lil’ Kanye West video at the bottom… a very short snippet of Kanye performing a supposed, brand NEW track. So we got an interesting track sent over 2 us 2day, that if others got it, they prolly skipped over, but I was initially attracted because Brandon Lloyd (B. Lloyd) is a WR I’ve followed since his days at the University of Illinois and now he plays for my hometown Bears. Turns out B. Lloyd is an aspiring rapper, and he showcases some nice flow on his 1st single w/ respected R&B singer, Bobby Valentino on the hook! I always find tracks by athletes very interesting, doubling as a big sports fan, and while most of them are below average, I think I might be bumpin’ this B. It is not often that a person has the opportunity to have, and fulfill, 2 separate and distinct career dreams but Brandon Lloyd aka B. Lloyd (if ya nasty) may just be one of them. Now a Wide Receiver for the Chicago Bears, Brandon Lloyd, who knew he wanted to be in the NFL since kindergarten, was a 4th round draft pick to the San Francisco 49ers back in 2003 and also played for the Washington Redskins before finding his home in Chicago. Living out a career as a pro athlete might have been enough for most but Brandon’s musical alter ego, who fell in love with Hip Hop after hearing Will Smith and DJ Jazzy Jeff’s Nightmare on My Street, also wanted to make music of his own.
A phone call to his agent by Still Hustlin’ Records owner and fellow artist and long-time friend, Renegade Foxxx gave B. Lloyd the label home, and the shot, he was looking for. With a first single that features the old school crooning of Bobby Valentino called “She All Mine” that is making all the right moves at radio (Corpus Christi, Lexington, Shreveport, Jackson, Baton Rouge, Gainsville, Tulsa, Biloxi, Augusta et al), it seems that Brandon has every chance of pulling off a career with his 2nd love. She All Mine is B. Lloyd’s musical reflection back on the dating escapades of he and his wife and he wrote it while the two were vacationing together.
“She All Mine is about a man who feels that his relationship with his lady is about more than the lovemaking.” he shares. “I knew Bobby Valentino’s voice would be a perfect fit for the song and he blessed me by being willing to grace the song of an up-and-coming artist. Not everyone is willing to do that.”
What drives this young man to not only pursue with equal fervor 2 very challenging career paths, but to offer himself up to the derision that often accompanies sports figures who try to break into music? The youngest of 7 children, Brandon Lloyd gives all of the credit for his incredible drive to his parents.
“I knew I wanted to be in the NFL when I was in kindergarten.” Brandon remembers. “I once got sent to the principle’s office for saying I wanted to be a professional football player in class when the teacher asked us all what we wanted to be when we grew up. The teacher said it was an ‘unrealistic goal.’ My Mom and Dad had always told me I could do anything I wanted. Just give it 100% and I can attain it.”
From where Brandon Lloyd is sitting right now, it looks like they might just be right.

The theme of the trax below is that many of them have great beats, by big name producers nonetheless, yet for whatever reason, I’m not really into the track. John Legend Interview & Rehearsal Of “If You’re Out There”
NEW john Legend “If You’re Out There” is a MUST-DL for any fan of music and even any follower of the political campaigns for this year’s election. JL showcases that one of a kind powerful, soulful voice, while also sending a ringing message to 2day’s generation. The description from his Barack Obama page concisely sums up the goal of the track perfectly,
“A call-to-action and evocation of human potential, “If You’re Out There” reflects the themes of hope and change, responsibility and leadership, and commitment to a better tomorrow expressed in the principles of Barack Obama and the hearts of the American people.”
John Legend performed the song for the first time @ last nite’s opening for the Democratic National Convention in Denver and in addition 2 DLing the track above, peep the interview and rehearsal of John Legend as he talks in detail about the track - a very interesting 2 and a half minute watch. I’ve had “If You’re Out There” on repeat all morning and u should 2; DL above!!!
As for the rest of the update, some more solid R&B comin’ thru from up and comers Rob (Of One Chance) & LaShawn Daniels, as well as established star, Mario chimin’ in w/ a sweet snippet that is worth ur trouble. And we also got some hip hop for ya ears w/ a sweet J. Dilla produced track and a bunch of NY hip hop w/ the LL Cool J / 50 Cent collabo and the latest from Lloyd Banks. A few standout trax from the bunch above and below, starting with Ludacris’ latest single (thx 2 Steve-O for the send) that will surely be hitting the radio in due time. It features Chris Brown & Sean Garrett and supposedly is produced by Swizz Beatz. The song is pretty solid on 1st listen and is exactly the type of song that will grow on me over time. The song is aimed squarely at the pop crowd, especially with a unique beat that is also likely 2 annoy some as well. I’m indifferent on the beat, like many of the vocals by Luda & CB, so we’ll see how this track lasts over time. Down below, Trey Songz kills the first verse of the “Girls Around The World RMX” and T.I. & Fabolous kill the “Hi Hater RMX”! I heard you were the one that actually gave the sample for “Us Placers” that was out there.
Lupe Fiasco: Yeah, I produced the record; Pharrell came up with the name and the idea. And “Us Placers” was the first song that’s like, “Yeah, this could work.”

Here’s a clip of a speech by Lupe Fiasco stressing how hip hop belongs and people will be entertained by hip hop as much as rock or whatever other genre. It’s a nice lil’ clip with the crowd going nuts. “During his set at the Glastonbury Festival in the U.K. last night, rapper Lupe Fiasco spoke out about “tyrannical world leaders”, clumping Zimbabwe’s longtime dictator and the American president in the same category “F*@K Robert Mugabe, F*@K George Bush,” he said. F*@k politics, democrats, socialists, the Labor party. Music’s what it’s all about.” It’s likely there won’t be any blowback from his American fans for his comment considering the current political climate. But remember just a few years ago the Country music group, Dixie Chicks, were bashed for much milder comments they made about the President in the U.K. Fiasco drew an excited crowd to his performance which included his hits “The Cool,” “Food and Liquor,” “Hip Hop Saved My Life” and ‘Kick Push.’”
Wow, some strong words then from Lupe Fiasco and more power 2 him. He’s truly a strong and passionate artist as u can tell above and in his music. The NEW album from Minneapolis hip hop group Atmosphere will be released this Tuesday (the 22nd) and above is a track from that album that I’m really likin called “In Her Music Box”! It concludes the album and Slug had this 2 say about the track,
“It’s about a little girl who learned how to use and abuse escapism through music. It finishes the story [of the album]. When we made this song, I knew the minute it was finished it would be the last song on the album.”
