PSA Announcement f/ Usher, Will.I.Am., & a TON of Celebs (Jonah Hill is HILARIOUS)
Politics get the top spot in this post 2day as Obama graces the next cover of Vibe, but what’s really important is what follows: the Public Service Announcement from various major celebrities and musicians (Usher & Will.I.Am.) as they effectively convey how important this election is for our generation and how time is running out to register to vote! I recently jumped on board as well and will be voting in Minnesota so I can attest to the fact that it is real easy to register to vote. In fact, I did so while waiting on my roommate who was in the shower, haha. So watch the video, get more inspired, and if you are an Obama supporter, get more psyched by the STRONG words our boy Lupe Fiasco had to say about the election just the other night:
“A vote for Barack is a vote for the future, a vote for McCain is a vote for the past,” said Fiasco. He added, “Ladies and gentlemen, the most important vote is the vote for yourselves.” At this point, Lupe’s sunglasses came off and the performance became a bit more personal.
Near the end of the show, Fiasco performed what is arguably his most famous single, “Superstar.” He then entered into a lengthy dialogue with the crowd, imploring them up from the apathetic daydream that seems to be characteristic of much of our generation: “If we don’t wake up now, ladies and gentlemen, there might not be a tomorrow to wake up to. Wake up!”
That’s real passionate and just on point. Obama personifies change, and change is something this country needs for it to better itself and better our status around the world. Period.
Down below, some loose end trax and vids; not much else comments 2 add, but I’m sure u’ll find somethin’ that piques your interest. Enjoy!
Lupe Fiasco “Intro” + “Kick, Push” LIVE @ Lollapalooza
Rhymefest “Brand New” LIVE @ Lollapalooza
The Cool Kids Interview @ Lollapalooza
Lollapalooza just wrapped up this weekend - a 3 day music festival featuring over 100 artists, including Chicago heavyweights, Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco, Rhymefest, & The Cool Kids. Some videos of the performances have surfaced the net and u can see them above, especially if you missed the show. Unfortunately, I was unable 2 attend w/ work all weekend so I personally can’t tell u how it was, but the lucky people who were there have been sharing nothing but great reviews! Above, Kanye kills “Put On”, Lupe Fiasco does some pushups, stretching, and even a backflip before launching into “Kick, Push” (haha, that’s great), Rhymefest destroys the stage with “Brand New”, & definitely check out the high quality interview with Mikey Rocks from The Cool Kids where u can learn more about the artist himself and his excitement 2 be @ Lollapalooza! Down below, check out a few trax, especially the rapper K-Smith & R&B singer Mario with their collaboration “Human Nature”. K-Smith drops a few nice lines with Mario sounding awesome over that beat. The Lloyd, U.K. Bonus Track is also somethin’ both R&B and hip hop fans would like! Enjoy!
WEEKEND UPDATE for ya’ll.. sorry about the delay on the NEW music, but I was working and out of town all day Saturday and until now on Sunday, but I’m back for good. Quite honestly, none of the trax in this update hit me as incredible on first few listens, but nonetheless, there are some quality trax 2 be had, starting with the unreleased Usher track above! The beat can be hit or miss, some will dig it, some will find it annoying, but the one constant as usual is Usher’s vocals! That’s a track that will grow on me, but it will be remained 2 be seen what direction that may be - positive or negative.. Down below, a bunch of hip hop and R&B, including the U.K. bonus track from Untitled by Nas, which of course is on point lyrically, but overall weaker than the trax already posted on GWHH. I’m also feelin’ the Swizzy beat on Styles P’s new track, and a few of the R&B trax by Trey Songz (is that really him tho?) & Francisco, namely. Peep it all below, along with the video premiere of LL Cool J’s latest single, “Baby” f/ The Dream! Enjoy!
Weekend update for ya here 2day with a video trailer for the latest, hot track from Nas - “Hero”, with some clips from the upcoming movie, The Incredible Hulk as well. The track may be on the movie’s soundtrack, but it is surely on Nas’ upcoming album, now called Untitled. I definitely can’t wait for the video and the movie looks cool also (Edward Norton is sweet, but not sure I can see him as the Hulk…). Anyway, I digress.. some NEW trax below - another CHI-Town banger from Mikkey Halsted with Kanye West only on the intro. Regardless, a pretty solid track again that was recorded years ago. Also some NEW trax featuring LL Cool J, Ice Cube, Casely, and a Danity Kane request, along with a video premiere of Flo Rida’s next club banger “In The Ayer” f/ Will.I.Am! Hopefully we’ll get an installment of Old School Sundays up for ya before day’s end, but it is Father’s Day, so a special GWHH shout out 2 all the fathers out there. I just enjoyed another Cubs victory with mine. Crazy day in sports with baseball, the US Open, & Game 5 of the NBA Finals for u and ur family and friends 2 watch. Anyway, enjoy!

Above are the 30 second snippets of all the tracks off N.E.R.D.’s upcoming album, Seeing Sounds! A lot of the beats are captivating on first listen and they are all included on an mp3 that is about 5+ minutes long! Below u can find some NEW music from Chris Brown (2 tracks that will be on the re-release of Exclusive), T-Pain, & a dope Lupe Fiasco Interview with NBC Chicago! Couple quick CB notes… never was really high on “Picture Perfect” and the RMX doesn’t really add much IMO, but I do love CB’s new 3rd verse. And 2, I believe “Heart Ain’t A Brain” was included in the rush of trax that followed Exclusive after its original release in November… from the DJ Babey Drew leaks. This version is supposedly the full version that will be appearing on the re-release - Exclusive: The Forever Edition in stores next Tuesday, June 3rd! Oh also, if u’ve noticed, we haven’t been posting any of those fan-made videos on the Glow In The Dark Tour… well, we will post official videos, including the first one below as Kanye West addresses the Chicago crowd on 05.23.08, courtesy of MTV News. Hopefully a DVD will be coming well after the tour concludes! Enjoy!
Producer: StarGate - FULL, CDQ, Track off upcoming album, Here I Stand, in stores May 27th!*Tibs Fav.
Here I Stand leaked out 2day and above are a couple trax that have interested me since seeing the official tracklist due 2 prolly my 2 favorite producers on the boards - Danja & StarGate! Both songs do NOT disappoint and if the rest of the album contains a quality mix of the uptempo beats and slow jams like this, then Usher has another surefire hit album 2 add 2 his long list of achievements. Usher displays what many consider the best voice in R&B in “What A Man’s To Do” while also singing and telling a great story through his lyrics over a nice beat similar 2 other StarGate produced songs - Chris Brown “With You” & Ne-Yo “Go On Girl”. Prolly my favorite of the 2 if I had 2 choose and will definitely be one of my favs of the album, once I hear the whole thing next Tuesday (gotta wait… :D) Below, u can check out a few more NEW trax, most notably the well-timed Nas drop of “N.I.G.G.E.R. (The Slave & The Master)”, in light of the news that he will be changing his album’s controversial title from Nigger 2 a yet 2 be determined name. Enjoy!
Oh yeah, almost forgot… make sure 2 cop The Cool Kids - The Bake SaleEP album on iTunes! Just purchased my copy there since I believe it is only being released digitally… lemme kno if u see it in stores!
As you can tell above, you can peep the latest in music videos as “We Made It” headlines the group. The song and video were released in the same day! How crazy is that? Well, I had a feeling the video would follow the song very quickly since it was already shot and Busta’s been trying 2 keep his tracks on the down low. Quick note: my main internet connection is unbearably slow and I’ll have some new trax for ya guys 2morrow for sure. Anyway, my buddy and I were talkin’ late last nite about various music topics and one of them was about one of our all-time favorites - John Legend - and his upcoming album due in September. We read this interview below that gives some information about the trax on his album and it is definitely looking 2 be very different than his previous 2 with more pop/mainstream beats and a more fun vibe to his CD. We agreed that it could be a mistake if he doesn’t stay true to himself, but I personally like the direction the album is going and I’m predicting his collabo with Andre 3000 will hit the Top 10. Check out the track descriptions below and full interview HERE!
Green Light ft Andre 3000-sounds futuristic with tapping drums and John singing “give me the green light, give me just one night…I’m ready to go right now” and Andre hopes that “you’re more like Anita Baker than Robin Givens.” Anything with Dre makes us smile.
Satisfaction-producer will.i.am pops out the synthy chords and melodious chorus and John’s asking “can I get me some satisfaction?” over rising keys. Ehn…
Everybody Knows- got some stabbing drums, guitar strums, layered chorus that swells as Mr. Legend sings “I wish we gave it one more try.”
No Other Love ft Estelle- reggae beat, estelle = niceness
Cross The Line-producer will.i.am broke out the Three6 Mafia drums on this one. Ae you guys sure you didn’t hit the strip club John?
Good Morning-ok, John played this joint twice and wouldn’t let us talk or take notes. What we can say is that this jam is all about good morning loving. PARLOUR COSIGN.
Aim High-here we’re back to classic john, through acoustic instruments and surprisingly, The Neptunes produced it. we don’t think the duo made the Once Again credits so it’s good to see The Neptunes and John back together again.
Enjoy a bunch of videos for 2day as our boy Lupe Fiasco performs “Paris, Tokyo” LIVE for the lucky people spending spring break in Panama City Beach, Florida with MTV. They get a special treat as well since Matthew Santos jumped on the chorus a couple of times and really enhanced the performance. Lupe was Lupe as usual, lookin’ quite fly while doin’ it 2. Below, are a couple more LIVE performance videos featuring Day26, a Will.I.Am. video premiere, and an interesting interview with the legendary Pete Rock! Enjoy!
Producer: Will.I.Am. - “Hip Hop Is Dead” Cover (Nas), FULL, CDQ *Tibs Fav.
Here’s some NEW Music 2 start of your week! Mainly R&B jams but some quality ones at that! The J. Holiday track above is a sweet cover of the Nas single “Hip Hop Is Dead” and as u can imagine, J. Holiday speaks on the state of R&B. I like the idea, not sure I agree w/ all of it, but its an interesting track that I like and u should DL! The Mario track below is sweet, but it doesn’t really sound like him. I’ve seen it credited 2 Mario, but from what I hear, I’m skeptical. Shout what u think! U can also DL 2 new trax from the boys at MTB4, a Trey Songz feature, and a new one that could grow on me by Ludacris! Enjoy!
I also just updated the Grammy Vid post a couple posts below with the 2 Alicia Keys performances from last night! Scroll down below and watch them! Both were fantastic… as always with Alicia!
