Some more quick-hit trax for ya Sunday evening, including yet another cover/RMX from Trey Songz! Again, this is an abundance of songs from Songz that I can’t complain about. He continues 2 kill every beat he jumps on and each track shows a different side of the artist, whether its his voice, flow, rhymes, or ability 2 adapt 2 any type of beat. So keep ‘em comin’ Trey! I know there’s more ppl lovin’ what they’re hearin’ than gettin’ tired of u jumpin’ on every beat. Down below, about a handful of trax that are mainly forgettable but Nelly actually comes through with a lyrical, slow hip hop jam that I actually like and is supposedly a bonus track off Brass Knuckles. Enjoy!
FULL, CDQ, Track off upcoming album, Yes We Can: Voices Of A Grassroots Movement*Tibs Fav.™
Big update for ya Saturdays here, starting with 2 powerful, inspiring tracks on the album inspired by perhaps the most powerful and inspiring person in the U.S.A. today - Democratic candidate, Barack Obama! Starting it off with an original track created for the Obama album above, Malik Yusef goes spoken word and delievers nothing less than an inspiring message. Adam Levine comes through on the hook and Kanye West raps (sans autotune) with the same amount of passion as Obama has for changing our country. It is a great song with a booming beat, especially at the finale of the song. Also above is John Legend’s contribution to the album with a magnificent cover of the U2 smash-hit “Pride (In The Name Of Love)”, which certainly fits the theme of the album as well.
Down below, a bunch of very solid tracks with Mark Ronson putting a nice spin on Robin Thicke’s “Magic”, along with Wale spittin’ some clever lines as well. R&B singer Joe’s album comes out on Tuesday and another track from the CD can be had as well. Def lookin’ forward to that album. I’m also feelin’ that Murs track as it contains clear and inspiring lyrics as well - from the album, Murs For President, in stores September 30th! In the midst of the videos below, you will find the official video premiere to Ne-Yo’s “She Got Her Own (Miss Indepenent Pt. 2)” f/ Jamie Foxx & Fabolous. I’m kind of surprised he didn’t include that track on the album for Year Of The Gentleman, but my guess is they recently recorded it with not enough time for the track to make the final tracklisting. Regardless, the star power above carries the nice slow jam sequel to “Miss Independent” and the nice black & white video does the song justice. Enjoy!
Sorry for the long time between updates.. between all the work, being sick, and social events I was busy with yesterday, I was flat out exhausted to do anything until now. But it’ll all be made up next week because I also used that time to conduct a very interesting interview with a professional athlete that will be hitting GWHH sometime next week! Stay tuned!
FULL, HQ, Track off upcoming album, Evolver *Tibs Fav.™
First off, daaamn, how old is that pic? JL’s still got the fro in that one, haha! Secondly, the HQ really makes me fall in love w/ this track. JL is sooo catchy on the hook and Kanye sooo clever in his verse, all over an addicting beat that I’m speculating was a Neptunes production.. Def a great song for the fellas breakin’ up w/ their girl, as the title insinuates. Anyway, these are 2 of my absolute favs, so you kno I’ma dig this track from the 2 of the 3 heavyweights of G.O.O.D. Music (I see u Common, and everyone will see u ‘Quence!) Luckily there’s a ton of nice releases comin’ our way before October 28th when Evolver comes out, so I’ll be pleasantly distracted until then. Down below, not thaaat much to distract me from “It’s Over” OR Year Of The Gentleman (I’ma try 2 get up a review soon), but Wale spits some nice rhymes and Jennifer Hudson is, well, Jennifer Hudson, so u’d expect a nice slow jam from her. A bunch of videos 2 peep as well f/ R. Kelly, Nas, ?uestlove, and Diddy bein’ ridiculous, haha. Enjoy!
HUGE update as I haven’t had time 2 post in the past 24 hrs… which is like a year or 2 in the world of the blogs. Hope u beared through and can see the boatload of NEW trax and vids featuring Lauryn Hill above w/ the feature track - a long, nice soulful song that was previously unreleased! Down below, a bunch of big names including a few trax from LL Cool J’s upcoming album, Exit 13, and trax f/ 50 Cent, Young Jeezy, Ciara, T-Pain, Donnie Klang, & MUCH MORE! Don’t forget 2 check out the ultra-fresh video from the U.K.’s Wiley f/ Kenna and a nice Daft Punk sample! And Consequence fans have GOT 2 scroll down as well. Enjoy!
A TON of heat in this update, starting w/ my boy Trey Songz who comes thru w/ a nice song, not unlike previous hits “Wonder Woman” and “Missin’ You”, in that it’s not really an uptempo track and not really a slow jam. It is a quality track, which is the theme of this post. GCH & Estelle hook up for a nice track as well, along with some more great rhymes coming from the Wale track (Michael Phelps and Brett Favre name-drops were real clever), more clever name-drops in the club-banger by Pitbull, & don’t forget Cassidy. I’m also feelin’ the lil’ snippet by Ne-Yo as the StarGate produced beat, along with lyrics that many can relate 2, will likely transition into another big radio hit for Ne-Yo! This is def an update where u don’t wanna skip DLing so judge for urself! Enjoy!
FULL, Limited DJ, RMX over Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth’s “T.R.O.Y.” *Tibs Fav.™
Thx 2 our aff. 2dopeboyz (ironic, huh?) for the above track and pic as Lupe, Wale, & Kardinal Offishall rhyme over the classic Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth “T.R.O.Y. (They Reminisce Over You)”! Lupe’s verse has been out for over a year already - it was featured on the 2007 mixtape, Sneakerboxx/The Laces Below, but it is mashed into a full song w/ Wale’s and Offishall’s verses (not sure if they are recycled also..)! One of my favorite all-time beats and the rappers don’t disappoint… MUST-DL above! Down below, some more hip hop featuring Yung Berg, Naledge (Of Kidz In The Hall), Lil’ Wayne, & MORE! Enjoy!
Producer: Cool & Dre - FULL, CDQ, Track off upcoming album, L.A.X.*Tibs Fav.™
Some serious heat in this post with a handful of sweet trax, starting with 2 of the game’s heavyweights collaborating (no pun intended) - The Game & Lil’ Wayne! Normally I’m ‘ehhh’ on both these rappers but they came 2gether for a slower, more conscious track for this one. Wayne is a lil’ annoying on the chorus, but The Game’s verses are all on point and were a fresh reminder of why I bumped The Documentary so much. Down below, Redman comes through with a sweet freestyle over Jay-Z’s “Show Me What Ya Got” and Young Chris & Wale collaborate for a real fresh tune as well. The one thing they have in common, besides being a *Tibs Fav.™, is references to one of my favorite movies - Beverly Hills Cop! Haha, not everyday u see one track with a reference 2 the Eddie Murphy film, let alone 2. And there are also some real dope name-drops with The Rock in the Young Chris / Wale collabo and CP3, aka Chris Paul, in The Game / Lil’ Wayne collabo. Finally, I’m really feelin’ “Perfect Gentleman” by Avant f/ Alfamega, which has a vibe similar 2 the Avant / Lloyd Banks collabo “Exclusive” that I really liked. In addition to the videos below f/ Rick Ross & Trey Songz’ video premiere, more Nas in the media, and a Young Jeezy annoucemet, make sure 2 head over 2 our affiliate, the lupEND blog, for a very interesting post Lupe Fiasco made on Okayplayer about why Nas is his favorite rapper. Definitely a MUST-READ for an inside look at the mind of Lupe Fiasco. Enjoy!
Aite so this post is full of goodies for ya eyes and ears, starting with yet another Chicago rapper who deserves some shine - Mic Terror! Shouts 2 Eddie for sending us the MP3s for a couple trax u may enjoy - the first being a solo track from Mic Terror, that is a cleverly dirty track with some lines that truthfully made me laugh out loud. And as a bonus DL, check out the track from M.I.A. f/ Mic Terror & Timbaland that is a typical, fast-paced banger from the hands of Timbo. I’m seriously diggin’ both those trax above so take my word and DL them and give ‘em a chance. Down below, u can learn more about Mic Terror w/ his Vimby profile! (Shouts 2 Eddie S. for the send thrus - scroll down for more updates…)

Above, we got the latest hot track from The Five One! It’s another tune that’ll appeal 2 the hip hop fans that also enjoy rock. Even more heat from The Five One can be found HERE! Down below, our boys at IllVibes created a mixtape for a rapper with a scary increasing amount of buzz - Wale! Check out their FULL post HERE!
Here we are with a few more videos that are some good looks including an artist that is making waves in the U.K. that the ppl here in the States could recognize by the name of Wiley! Check out his video, “Wearing My Rolex (What Would We Do)”, which has over 1.5 million views already! And finally, if u got some time on ur hands, check out the short film entitled “Let Go” by the talented, up and coming filmmaker Jameel Saleem! All the film fans should take a look at that! Enjoy!
Producer: Scram Jones - FULL, CDQ, Track off upcoming album, El Che*Tibs Fav.™
Some brand NEW Rhymefest for ya ears (shouts 2 Andrew) and its a ridiculous, good hip hop track that speaks at u on first listen! The catchy “Ya’ll ain’t heard it from me” sample scratched in as the chorus is a great mesh for the whole song with a simple, nice beat and Rhymefest and Wale speakin’ on the game w/ Rhymefest setting the tone in the first verse with the ear-catching line,“Records ain’t sellin’, what the f*** is my incentive, captain?” Yeah, this is some real hip hop that ya’ll should add 2 ur collection that rings especially pleasing 2 this Chicagoland native, just as the slow, dirty south beat of Mistah F.A.B.’s “2MPH” f/ Bun B, Paul Wall, & Chamillionaire will ring the right chords with the Houston crowd! U can also check out a couple NEW trax from Mickey Factz with some guest features and some ridiculous lines! And don’t forget, down below.. a couple vid premieres from Clipse and the sexy songstress, Ashanti! Enjoy!
Producer: Jim Jonsin - FULL, CDQ, 1st Single off upcoming album, Paper Trail*Tibs Fav.™
***Added Robin Thicke “Magic RMX” f/ Freeway & Wale “Whole Time” f/ Young Chris below!***
Big day with the supposed, official 1st single off Paper Trail above! It’s not related 2 the Nicole Scherzinger/T.I. collaboration of the same name, but the one thing it has in common is it’s aim for the mainstream. I’m not all the way sold on the first few listens of the track as it certainly has a catchy beat, but it’s high pitch synths will likely annoy me over time. The chorus is equally as catchy, but I’m not sure it’s strong enough for the song 2 take off like how “What You Know” did. I love T.I., but it looks like he went by the formula on this one, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but it’s also not on that top tier of T.I. songs that I was hoping the 1st single would reach. However, most of T.I.’s songs grow on me and I can see this one doing the same once the play count reaches double digits, but time will tell. Down below u can DL another track from Yung Berg’s upcoming album - all the ones posted are solid, but I can never get really into them.. maybe u will tho. And there’s a bunch of videos featuring interviews with Nas & Common, Nas & Keri Hilson performing their single, “Hero”, a Trey Songz featured video premiere, & some more videos and pictures from the set of the “Everyone Nose RMX” video, which will be directed by Hype Williams, who always brings out the best in the song and artist in his videos! Just got a lil’ more excited w/ that info. Enjoy!
