Kim & Khloe Kardashian Meet and Greet at Woodfield Mall [Photos]

Jen DeLeon posted April 25, 2012

It’s not often that high profile celebrities make their way to the suburbs of Chicago, but this weekend, Schaumburg got themselves a visit from Kim and Khloe Kardashian, who were alongside their ‘momager’ Kris Jenner.

The reality TV stars made an appearance to spend time with their fans, and promote The Kardashian Kollection, their new line, which can be found exclusively at Sears.

Hundreds, maybe even thousands, were lined up not only inside the department store – but also outside the forty-degree weather.

I spoke with some fans who told me they waited since 2 A.M. the night before in the freezing cold – but it “wasn’t so bad” because they were allowed inside for bathroom breaks. Talk about dedication – especially because some of those all-nighters didn’t even get let in to the store.

The first 200 people who have purchased something from The Kardashian Kollection were guaranteed to meet their favorite stars, while others felt that just standing within a 500-foot radius was enough.

As I stood in the media pit, I felt I saw a whole different side from what I see on television. Let’s face it, when it comes to The Kardashian’s, you either love them, or hate them – and despite all the rumors and media I see on them everyday, I can honestly say, they are genuinely nice people.

From taking time to talk to their fans, to Kim breaking down into what looked like tears of joy [not sure why it was, but I am assuming it is something one of the fans said], all the way to calling Kourtney [their older sister] who was scheduled to appear, but could not due to limitations from her pregnancy, so she could say hello to the Kardashian through the speakers.

After the event was over and I did a little shopping, I felt as if everywhere I went, there was someone holding the autographed pictures they were giving away. I even saw a group of six teenage boys admiring their memorabilia together.

Oh, and this has nothing to do with what happened at the event – but Khloe Kardashian’s ring is a LOT bigger than person. Oh my goodness.

Thank you to Fingerprint Communications for allowing us to be a part of the event! More photos below!

Nas talks 2Pac, ‘Life Is Good’, hip hop today, performs @ SXSW [Video]

Sgt. Tibs posted April 3, 2012

Nas on ‘Hip Hop is dead.’ and hip hop today:

“I knew that statement right there would make everyone think of hip hop again and make everyone question themselves, how much of hip hop do they really know? … I think hip hop is now becoming.. it’s getting some age on it. It’s no longer a 10 year old thing that’s been around since ’79. It’s this thing that’s been going on for decades now, and it looks like it’s going to keep growing. I say right now that it’s thriving. It’s thriving and there’s a lot of potential. I’m optimistic about the future.”

Strong and optimistic words from Nas “The Don” as that quotable above ushers in our continuing coverage of SXSW! I was able to attend a panel conference down in Austin with the QB living legend sitting down with former manager Steve Stoute for a candid one-hour conversation that discussed everything from Nas’ upbringing all the way through his career and looking ahead to the upcoming album, Life Is Good. As one would imagine, Nas had some very interesting words to say on a number of those things, including the controversial “Hip Hop is dead” statement and hip hop today. Other things? How about some light on his relationship with 2Pac and how his last run-in with ‘Pac went before his untimely passing? I also filmed some soundbites about the type of sound and content to expect on Life Is Good and the first album that inspired him (which could possibly surprise you).

Additionally in the video, you can also watch some clips of Nas’ headlining set of Illmatic at the VEVO showcase during the last night of SXSW. Crazy enough, we were walking from venue to venue trying to cover as many events as possible and made our way into Nas’ set right as it started in press row. Video was limited, but I got footage of the first three songs, which of course included “N.Y. State Of Mind” and “Life’s A Bitch” with AZ, DJ Premier, & Pete Rock all flanking Nas in his amazing New York City set, which even featured a subway exit that he emerged from. Simply an epic experience to witness and a performance that I’ll always remember. Watching Nas rock the mic live and a riveting hour-long conversation all in a span of two days?! Once again, I can’t emphasize enough just how open Nas was throughout the interview; Steve Stoute asked some hard-hitting questions and Nas even flexed a sense of humor that we rarely get to see. For a sampling of all of the above, simply press play; plus, hit the jump for some more powerful quotables. Enjoy!

Nas on his relationship with 2Pac:

“Pac’s one of my favorite artists. When we saw each other, I feel like he’s in my city I gotta step to this guy. So we stepped to Death Row and really just got to the bottom of it. What he said to me was, ‘Me and you are brothers. We’re not supposed to, me and you are never supposed to go out [after each other] but I heard you dissin’ me on mixtapes… it was a very dangerous situation right there, but greater heads prevailed and we both knew we was supposed to continue that conversation and probably even squash the whole thing but.. I was scheduled to meet him in Vegas. But you guys, you [former manager Steve Stoute] and Jimmy Iovine called me about 4 in the morning and told me he might not make it… it was a moment.”

Snoop Dogg LIVE @ SXSW [Video]

Sgt. Tibs posted March 29, 2012

In with another video from SXSW presented by GWHH, we have none other than the legend Snoop Dogg and highlights from his closing set at the Vibehouse presented by Cashmere Agency. This was an amazing experience to be a part of as Kiss & Fly was the perfect intimate, and energetic venue for Snoop to run through classic after classic. After a series of amped sets from Timbaland, Yo Gotti, and Mystikal, the crowd was still prime at 3:30am for Snoop to do the same. And that he did, feeding off a crowd that welcomed hits from 20 years ago to 2012. Up above, we got dope video and audio of “Gin & Juice”, “What’s My Name”, and how Snoop closed his set that night with “Young, Wild, & Free”. Keep a close eye and ear to the call and response that was even more powerful experiencing live. Snoop’s not in my personal list of top 5 rappers, but seeing him live was definitely something I wanted to check off my bucket list and he definitely delivered a memorable concert. Watch and get a taste of it above!

SOB’s 30th Anniversary Showcase SXSW Recap [Video]

Sgt. Tibs posted March 24, 2012

One of the most memorable nights for us at SXSW last week was when we posted up at The Belmont on our first night there for the SOBs 30th Anniversary Showcase. Here’s who we saw and expected on the bill: 2 Chainz, Slaughterhouse, Machine Gun Kelly, and Miguel. And then Kanye West & Big Sean joined 2 Chainz on stage, as you may know already.

What lies above is a highlight recap of what went down that night. Performance footage from all of the acts above mixed in a smooth flowing fashion with many of the interviews we got from the evening including Drea Oppan talking with the living legend MC Hammer, Blu, Elle Varner, Maya, and even New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz who taught Jen DeLeon how to do his signature touchdown salsa dance, hah! Watch above, you’ll be entertained from beginning to end! Then check out our previous SXSW footage and some pictures below. More videos to come throughout the week!

B.o.B Interview with Gowhere Hip Hop @ SXSW [Camovement]

Sgt. Tibs posted March 21, 2012

One artist that we made sure to have circled on our itinerary last week in Austin was none other than B.o.B. He was on tap to perform multiple times throughout the week, capping Thursday night at The Warner Sound Showcase with T.I., at the V.I.P. Hard Rock Lounge on Friday, and headlining Perez Hilton‘s annual One Night In Austin SXSW Showcase on Saturday night. Sure enough, #TeamGowhere was able to make it out to all three events and above, we have some dope performance footage mixed in with our sit-down from Saturday night with Jen DeLeon.

We sat down backstage with B.o.B in his dressing room before he took the stage at Perez Hilton‘s One Night In and naturally, Jen kicked it off with a question on what’s one thing we don’t know about the blogging/entrepreneur extraordinaire. Also find out what he and T.I. are working on, the deepest subject he wrote about for his upcoming album Strange Clouds (hint: the song was just released a couple days ago below), and more depth from him about overcoming his trials and tribulations. Finally, stay tuned through the end for how B.o.B is going to remember us from now on… hah!

Shouts to B.o.B’s manager T.J. for accommodating us as well as Cam & Josh for the continued fresh filming and editing on our SXSW coverage. And hey, even I got in on the fun and filmed Saturday’s activities, which included B.o.B’s performance at Perez from on the stage! As you can tell, we were all that close to the action as it was simply amazing to be able to film the energetic B.o.B from those vantage points as he partied with the crowd and even cartwheeled on stage. For more fun, hit our previous documentary-style piece with B.o.B from last time in Chicago this past November and our photo opps below. Strange Clouds. May 1st.

Kendrick Lamar “Hol’ Up” LIVE @ SXSW [Camovement]

Sgt. Tibs posted March 19, 2012

One busy artist at SXSW this past week was none other than one of the hottest names in hip hop right now: Kendrick Lamar. Our own Cam Be & Josh Free were on hand at the Fader Fort and Cashmere Agency’s Vibe House to capture these amazing visuals on top of the raw energy to one of Section.80‘s standouts “Hol’ Up”. Enjoy this Camovement (of more to come for GWHH from SXSW) that mixes in some distant black and white clips with the up close and personal looks at Lamar on stage. Especially stay tuned through til the end for how Kendrick ferociously caps off “Hol’ Up”. Plus, Solange is one of the many enjoying the performance – look out for her in the video as well.

#TeamGowhere was floored on the visuals to this one during our road trip back home today as Cam, Josh, and many more on the team were working hard to turn around all of this amazing video we got on deck in Austin. Naturally, more to come soon so stay tuned and enjoy above!

Back this week with part 2 of our 2-part sit-down with Freeway at GWHQ! This is the continuation of his in-depth conversation with our new correspondent J Niice, co-host of B96 FM‘s morning show, as we transition from Islam in part 1 to a discussion of Freeway’s upcoming projects (Freedom Of Speech coming soon), the differences that he sees with his experience with Roc-A-Fella and now being independent, some rappers he co-signs today (the list for Kendrick Lamar keeps growing), and more. Also be on the lookout for some more raw performance footage of his show at Reggie’s while in Chicago and even a sign-off freestyle so stay through to til the end. Watch above and check out part 1 in the video below and the link for more details! Shouts once again to the Philly Freezer!
