Common “Gladiator [LIVE]”

Back from the doc with some updates for ya eyes and ears, including a very unique, NEW track from Common that he debuted above in a live performance! The beat between the chorus and the verses changes drastically, which is very interesting, but most of all, Common KILLS it, spitting every word clearly live and droppin’ names like Kimbo Slice and Michael Vick very cleverly. I mean, are you not entertained?? Haha, down below, u can DL 12 NEW trax from artists like the late J. Dilla, Kardinal Offishall, Chris Brown, Lloyd, & MANY MORE! post VIDEOS: N*E*R*D “Spaz” - MORE

July 15th, 2008

N*E*R*D “Spaz”

VIDEO PREMIERE!

I’m likin’ the black & white, but I was expecting something unique and fresh like the song itself. Still a solid video, featuring some nice live performance angles, but like I said, I was expecting something a lil’ more artsy.

Gym Class Heroes “Peace Sign/Index Down” f/ Busta Rhymes

VIDEO PREMIERE!

A fresh video with a lot of face time w/ the artists. The plain background works as well and the song has such a gripping message on first listen, u’ll likely watch this one all the way thru and maybe even more!

The Outlawz “Everything Happenz 4 A Reason”

VIDEO PREMIERE!

Perhaps my favorite video of the premieres in this post… done in a semi-documentary style, showing live tour performances mixed in with some video from 2Pac’s last nite (as u can imagine, tying in with the song title). Def a MUST-SEE for 2Pac & Outlawz fans alike!

Keri Hilson “Energy”

VIDEO PREMIERE!

LOVE Keri Hilson! The video only enhances her sexiness as she still maintains that with the boxing and working out theme… she still looks great breakin’ a sweat. The song is nice also and the vid inspires me 2 like it even more. The ladies will definitely love her strong image in both the video and the lyrics.

Nas Performs @ ALIFE

A little amateur video of Nas performing in a small, packed house. Hard 2 fully understand unless ur listening/watching closely, but as u can imagine, Nas kills it (and I’ll see for myself soon enough!). Untitled in stores 2day.. can’t wait 2 pick up my copy!

Lupe Fiasco “Streets On Fire” f/ Matthew Santos & Sarah Green

LIVE @ Somerset House

Props 2 LupEND for passing this thru our email as u can head over there 2 DL the full concert in audio and video. The video above is an great, super, excellent, awesome performance of one of my all-time fav. Lupe trax, “Streets On Fire”, as all 3 perform wonderfully. Aite, I’m running out of generic adjectives, but either way, both Santos (especially with the beginning intro) and Sarah Green (on the chorus, and throughout… didn’t I say that once before?) shine as Lupe graciously gives them the spotlight and then shines in his own as he rips through every word passionately in his 2 verses. Just an overall awesome performance that makes me wish that I was there. MUST-SEE (only 6 minutes long..!)

Kanye West - In An Absolut World (Commercial)

It’s gettin’ late.. might take another viewing 2 understand this commercial fully, but its Kanye, he looks fly in this commercial and well, take it for what it is! Enjoy!

April 17th, 2008

Atmosphere “In Her Music Box”

FULL, CDQ, Track off upcoming album, When Life Gives You Lemons, You Paint That Shit Gold *Tibs Fav.

The NEW album from Minneapolis hip hop group Atmosphere will be released this Tuesday (the 22nd) and above is a track from that album that I’m really likin called “In Her Music Box”! It concludes the album and Slug had this 2 say about the track,

“It’s about a little girl who learned how to use and abuse escapism through music. It finishes the story [of the album]. When we made this song, I knew the minute it was finished it would be the last song on the album.”

You can read full track by track comments like the one above for the whole album by Atmosphere HERE!

Below, we got the latest from CHI-Town’s own Yung Berg with Fabolous, Young Buck, Snoop, & The Outlawz, and a video premiere from Buckshot, 9th Wonder, Talib Kweli, & Tyler Woods! Enjoy!

post Old School Sundays - 2Pac - Keep Ya Head Up II feat The Outlawz

April 13th, 2008

Filed under: 2Pac, Old School Sundays, The Outlawz — Sgt. Tibs @ 12:16 pm

2Pac “Baby Don’t Cry (Keep Ya Head Up II)” f/ The Outlawz

Producer: 2Pac, Soulshock, & Karlin - Track off 2Pac/Outlawz 1998 album, Still I Rise *Tibs Fav.

So I’ve been going thru all my 2Pac this week since I needed some more music 2 listen 2 with all the hours I’ve been up this week and I realized that one of my favorite trax of his mite actually be one of his lesser known songs and that I’d share that with u guys 2day for Old School Sundays. As you can see above, it is essentially “Keep Ya Head Up II” - a sequel to one of 2Pac’s groundbreaking hits “Keep Ya Head Up”. It’s immediately captivating on first listen with the old school 90s beat and 2Pac’s first verse registering with his powerful delivery. And if that’s not enough, the chorus strikes a chord with not only his subject (women that were raped) but 2 all of us when times are down. The Outlawz bring it as well in the song and throughout the album as Still I Rise isn’t one of 2Pac’s most heralded posthumous albums and most popular, but there are some sparkling gems throughout like this one. So while 2Pac has passed on, his legacy still remains present and his songs will live on forever. If you don’t have this track, and even if ur not a fan of 2Pac, I’d suggest DLing it above and take a step back 2 listen 2 the lyrics. Just another example of the tragic, young talent that was Tupac Shakur. Enjoy!

post Old School Sundays #1 - 2Pac & Eminem

October 21st, 2007

Filed under: 2Pac, Eminem, Old School Sundays, The Outlawz — Sgt. Tibs @ 1:12 am
So we are bringing a new segment to Gowhere Hip Hop called “Old School Sundays” where at least one of us will provide ya with some of the old school tracks and videos we loved that were also not chart-topping hits of the time period. So you may not have some of the old stuff we will be putting up every Sunday! Hopefully this segment will spice up a usually uneventful weekend of new music for you guys.
For my first Old School Sunday post, I’ll hit ya with a collaboration from 2 rap LEGENDS that did not really go mainstream, but was on the radar at the time of its 2003 release. It’s one of my ALL-TIME favorite songs by 2Pac featuring Eminem and the Outlawz. The Eminem-produced track is one of the best and all the verses are lyrically deep and analytical. To me, Eminem’s verse stands out above the rest, but Pac and also the Outlawz have real nice verses as well. So DL the track below, from the 2003 movie soundtrack to Tupac Resurrection. Enjoy!
