FULL, CDQ, Track off upcoming album, Theatre Of The Mind*Tibs Fav.™
Shouts 2 Best Of Both Offices for sending a track that I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw the heading in the e-mail… Luda AND T.I.! If u didn’t know, T.I. & Luda had a pretty big beef for a long time over who is king of the south and king of Atlanta (both rappers’ hometowns). They have since squashed the beef and have now jumped on the same track and it was bound 2 happen sooner or later! (as Luda says, haha!) It’s a real hard beat that is contagious on 1st listen and both artists go equally as hard in the verses, somethin’ both needed IMO after their latest radio-friendly singles 2 remind everyone they haven’t strictly gone mainstream. Luda shines on the 2nd verse with many clever lines and references that don’t seem forced and T.I. shows once again why he is one of the all-time greatest in the flow category on his last verse. Def a MUST-DL! Down below, a couple more quick updates w/ a NEW Game/Just Blaze track, where Game definitely had 2 reference the NBA’s Superman in Dwight Howard, and also may have taken a lil dig @ Soulja Boy. Also, a Dwele video premiere! More updates 2 come later 2nite! Enjoy!
Producer: Polow Da Don - FULL, CDQ, Track off upcoming album, Lessons In Love *Tibs Fav.™
R&B singer Lloyd is prepping for his 3rd album, Lessons In Love, and this is the last batch of trax that we are sharing here at GWHH before the album hits stores on August 5th! And they are 2 of the better ones, especially the J. Lack produced “I’m Wit It”. If you recall, Lloyd and J. Lack first linked up for the huge hit “Get It Shawty” that was a summer anthem last year and this track is sure to be bumpin’ in the stereos well into the twilight of this summer. It’s not quite the banger as “Get It Shawty” but it’s surely a track that I’m feelin’ and the new-age R&B fans will enjoy as well. Down below peep some more hip hop featuring Rhymefest, an old (unreleased) Nas track, a Lil’ Wayne feature, and especially take the time to watch and respect the genius that is R&B singer/songwriter/producer Ryan Leslie as he gives viewers a special behind the scenes look at the making of his single “Addiction”. R. Les is just goin’ crazy on the boards and on the mic and it’s really neat 2 see his passion translating into the music. As a bonus video as well, check out a rare interview from 1994 back when Ryan Leslie was in high school (and bout 2 enter Harvard, where he graduated at age 19!?!) … I think me and him had the same glasses, haha! Anyway, that’s def an interesting view and for more Ryan Leslie on YouTube, subscribe 2 his official channel with many more behind the scenes looks HERE! Enjoy!
Producer: The Neptunes - Freestyle over the Common single, “Universal Mind Control” *Tibs Fav.™
LARGE update here so here’s some thoughts… first and foremost, Bullet.. straight up stepping his game up. DL his ridiculous freestyle of Common’s latest single “Universal Mind Control”. Perfect beat for Bullet 2 shine on with his fast, twisted Chicago flow and they got creative with chopping up his voice in a couple instances. (Not 2 mention Common killed this as well…) He’s on the verge of being the next big thing out of the Chi so don’t sleep. Below, a TON of NEW trax f/ the long-awaited return of Lil’ Wayne on “A Milli”, celebrating his million copies sold of Tha Carter III in the first week. Some more big names of hip hop and R&B featured below like Nas, The Game, Day26 as well as quality trax from some lesser known names like Mickey Factz & The Cool Kids, Dwele, & perhaps my favorite song from the batch below, “Can’t Do Without Ya” by R&B singer, Francisco! Scroll below and you’ll find somethin’ u like and u can also check out some videos featuring Bun B, The Roots, Bobby Valentino, & MORE below! Enjoy!
And for all u Chicago visitors, GemStones is throwin’ a bday bash and mixtape release party TONIGHT!! All the info is on the flyer at the very bottom with GemStones himself performing at midnite (along with some FNF friends, maybe Lupe??). Thanks 2 KayCee and hopefully Max G. & I will be there 2 see ya there! Also, last-minute addition of the K-Salaam & Beatnick RMX of Common’s “Go” & Lil’ Wayne “On Me” that u can DL below (spotted @ HHU)! Enjoy!
Here’s a unique mix of NEW school trax w/ Old School Sundays! Above is the NEW track from Dwele called “I’m Cheatin’” - simply another good track from the Detroit R&B/soul singer. And below are the OLD school trax that is by or featuring Dwele! They include the Grammy-nominated “That’s The Way Of The World”, the ridiculous collaboration with Kanye West and Consequence, and more collaborations with 2Pac, Slum Village & Proof! Finally, there are also some solid NEW trax featuring Snoop Dogg, Pharrell, & the Minneapolis underground duo - Atmosphere! Enjoy!
Guru “Cuz I’m Jazzy” f/ Slum Village VIDEO PREMIERE!
You may recognize Guru as one half of the legendary rap group Gangstarr. Here’s his latest single - the world premiere to “Cuz I’m Jazzy” - a fresh collaboration with Slum Village. And below are a couple of tracks off his latest album, Guru’s Jazz Matazz, Vol. 4: The Hip-Hop Jazz Messenger: Back To The Future featuring Common and Bobby Valentino! I also added buy links for ya guys on iTunes or Amazon below. Enjoy!
Wow, I can’t believe we’ve been up and running this long without a single J. Legend post, haha! Well, the weekend in music is a little slow and I’m sure ya’ll are jammin’ to Kanye anyway so I’d figure I’d hit ya with some JOHN LEGEND! There has not been many new JL songs to surface, none in fact, since the beginning of the year. I read that he has an untitled 3rd album on the horizon for 2007, but I highly doubt we’ll see that out this year. Other than that, he has background vocals on “Good Life” & “The Glory” off of Kanye’s Graduation. Anyway, here is the last song he was featured on - an interesting, yet pleasant collaboration with Rich Boy. The Polow Da Don (check out his production credits here) beat is a dark thumper that Rich Boy rhymes over nicely and JL amazingly sings over on the chorus. Below that, I put out a couple old videos. One is his special remix (just him and a piano) to “Selfish” - a 2004 song that features him and Kanye w/ Slum Village that you can DL here if you don’t have it already (sry no divShare preview, didn’t come up w/ one for some reason). Finally, in the fall of 2006, John Legend performed in the legendary (no pun intended) Royal Albert Hall in London that I watched at the time live on msn.com. All his live performances from that show can be found on YouTube and below is his opener, and Tibs personal fav. “Heaven”. You can explore the rest of the show on the related videos on the side. Enjoy!
