Here’s our NEW music update encompassing late Thursday night and Friday morning. (My apologies… travelling from Minny 2 Chicago took 12 hrs and then I jetted 2 the Lupe concert @ the Congress w/ the GWHH crew… more details above). Regardless, I’d figure I’d kick it off with a video premiere (and cuz I’m 2 fatigued 2 find a pic for an artist w/ a track below, haha) by Keyshia Cole f/ 2Pac! However, it peeves me that this track was actually on Pac’s Life - the 2006 album by 2Pac and is now considered new to many others as it looks to be the 1st single off of Keyshia Cole’s upcoming 3rd album. Eh, at the same time, it is a beautiful track that I liked a lot a couple years ago and the more people who hear that nice message, the better. Down below, a buncha trax f/ a T-Pain / Kanye collabo, Chamillionaire, Talib Kweli, The Dream, & MORE! And finally, check out a few more videos featuring Common talkin’ politics, the latest Lil’ Wayne video premiere, along w/ video premieres from Saigon and Pharoahe Monch, and a couple live performances by T.I. & Kidz In The Hall! Enjoy!
Real quick video update for ya’ll, starting w/ Q-Tip! Trax comin’ later 2nite if I have time or for sure 2morrow, including a GWHH exclusive! Also check out this interesting article on Eminem’s personal life! Enjoy!
We’re leadin’ off with a real nice video/song from another one of Chicago’s fastest rising stars, Kidd Russell. Kidd Russell has opened for the likes of Common, The Roots, Nappy Roots, and GLC and with “Dear Shooter” is well on his way to making his mark in Chicago hip hop. The song is a deep one that was inspired by the Virginia Tech school shootings and was ironically recorded on the same day of the Northern Illinois school shootings in the winter of this year. The lyrics touch on gun violence and the video has been featured across the web, even on a Barack Obama site. Finally, Kidd says the song is like a cross between 2Pac’s “Dear Mama” & Eminem’s “Stan”, which I feel is an accurate description after analyzing the verses. Peep for yourself with the video above!
Down below, your daily batch of NEW trax-n-vids, starting w/ a raw hip hop track from Joe Budden and friends that goes nearly 7 minutes with words flyin’ all over the place. Clear and meaningful verses are abound so all the hip hop fans will surely love what Joe Budden & Co. have 2 offer in “Slaughterhouse”. Akon also comes thru w/ 3 more trax - a nice mid-tempo ballad w/ Keyshia Cole, the RMX 2 “I Got Paid” w/ Young Jeezy added on it (could grow on me), and a nice club-banger that adores the ladies with “Beautiful”. Also, Lil’ Flip comes thru w/ a new track and Fab adds a verse 2 “Good Lovin’”, which makes for a nice complete track as well. Finally, a bunch of video premieres below featuring Q-Tip, Lil’ Wayne, Frankie J, & MORE! Enjoy!
Truthfully, somewhat of a forgettable update for me cuz I’m not really diggin’ a lot of the NEW trax; however, Royce Da 5′9″ comes thru with a very respectable hip hop track over a real nice DJ Premier beat! His rhymes are clear and fast, yet you’re still able 2 follow them on 1st listen. Down below, Beyoncé comes thru with her first 2 official singles off her next album, I Am… (I’ve also seen that the album will be called Virtuoso, but idk which it is for sure..?). They are actually really great songs for the ladies, especially the slow jam “If I Were A Boy”, but as the titles of the songs suggest, guys like me can’t really relate and put the song on repeat, haha. I know that Mrs. Carter’s female fans will LOVE those singles tho as it also warrants mentioning that the “Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)” track is her club banger single. Finally, peep the various trax and videos below and u’ll prolly find somethin’ u like. Enjoy!
FULL, CDQ, Track off upcoming album, Yes We Can: Voices Of A Grassroots Movement*Tibs Fav.™
Big update for ya Saturdays here, starting with 2 powerful, inspiring tracks on the album inspired by perhaps the most powerful and inspiring person in the U.S.A. today - Democratic candidate, Barack Obama! Starting it off with an original track created for the Obama album above, Malik Yusef goes spoken word and delievers nothing less than an inspiring message. Adam Levine comes through on the hook and Kanye West raps (sans autotune) with the same amount of passion as Obama has for changing our country. It is a great song with a booming beat, especially at the finale of the song. Also above is John Legend’s contribution to the album with a magnificent cover of the U2 smash-hit “Pride (In The Name Of Love)”, which certainly fits the theme of the album as well.
Down below, a bunch of very solid tracks with Mark Ronson putting a nice spin on Robin Thicke’s “Magic”, along with Wale spittin’ some clever lines as well. R&B singer Joe’s album comes out on Tuesday and another track from the CD can be had as well. Def lookin’ forward to that album. I’m also feelin’ that Murs track as it contains clear and inspiring lyrics as well - from the album, Murs For President, in stores September 30th! In the midst of the videos below, you will find the official video premiere to Ne-Yo’s “She Got Her Own (Miss Indepenent Pt. 2)” f/ Jamie Foxx & Fabolous. I’m kind of surprised he didn’t include that track on the album for Year Of The Gentleman, but my guess is they recently recorded it with not enough time for the track to make the final tracklisting. Regardless, the star power above carries the nice slow jam sequel to “Miss Independent” and the nice black & white video does the song justice. Enjoy!
Sorry for the long time between updates.. between all the work, being sick, and social events I was busy with yesterday, I was flat out exhausted to do anything until now. But it’ll all be made up next week because I also used that time to conduct a very interesting interview with a professional athlete that will be hitting GWHH sometime next week! Stay tuned!
Another hot track from Trey Songz, as he adds his flava 2 the current #1 single in the country - T.I.’s “Whatever You Like”! Dirty lyrics are abound and delivered nicely… still doesn’t compare 2 the T.I. original, but I still like this version and will keep it in my select rotation for sure. Down below a few more NEW trax f/ the various artists listed below, but I should also draw attention 2 the lil’ Kanye West video at the bottom… a very short snippet of Kanye performing a supposed, brand NEW track. Flow sounds sweet, but it looks like he f’ed up in there as well. Hope everyone had a fun and safe Labor Day weekend; back 2 the grind on Tuesday..! Enjoy!
Producer: Timbaland - FULL, CDQ, Track off upcoming album, In A Perfect World… *Tibs Fav.™
Above is a brand NEW track from my girl Keri Hilson featuring her mentor Timbaland! It’s got a nice Timbo beat and equally nice lyrics; the duet reminds me of the Nelly Furtado / Timbaland mega-hit “Promiscuous”, but it’s not as dumbed-down, yet also not as catchy. Either way, it’s a good track and Keri’s debut album should hit stores this fall! Down below is some more trax from the Saturday - starting w/ a real nice slow jam from Ne-Yo, and the rest featuring many hip hop artists that are not mainstream names, yet still doin’ their thing. Peep them below and DL what u like. Enjoy!
Fyi, Sunday is another travel day for me; updates from me will be sparse, but as always, I’ll try and get a big update up sometime later in the day!
N*E*R*D “Everyone Nose RMX” f/ Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco, & Pusha T
VIDEO PREMIERE!
Thanks 2 S-Preme in our Jabbify, I was able 2 catch the world premiere of the long-anticipated “Everyone Nose RMX” on BET’s 106 & Park and thx 2 Connie over @ OnSmash w/ the send-thru, we have the video online and above @ GWHH! I was expecting big things from the video and it delivered. I love the crazy, fresh effects throughout and the video game / electronic type elements illustrated, w/ everyone lookin’ and actin’ all fly throughout the video. It definitely personifies the style of N*E*R*D and its equally fresh guest features - Kanye, Lupe, & Pusha T from Clipse. I’ve also been thinking about who delivers the best verse out of the 4 in this track for quite some time now, and I’ma throw it out there that if I had 2 choose one who really really killed it, it’s Pusha T. His flow is just ridiculous over the awesome beat and people shouldn’t sleep on him w/ CRS likely overshadowing him on this song 2 the casual fan. Any thoughts on this as well? Chat or comment away! (I should note tho that Kanye, and Lupe especially shine brighter lyrically..) It’s a MUST-WATCH video so please take the time 2 check it out above! That’s all I really got for now, besides a boatload of trax and other videos for ya below! Hip hop, R&B, Underground, Mainstream, something for everyone so just check it out below! Enjoy!
