Talib Kweli, David Banner, & Co. get the top spot for this small update, in part because a TEN minute LIVE freestyle would be absolutely nuts 2 experience at a concert, but also because I attended the Hip Hop Live Tour a couple weeks ago up here in Minneapolis featuring the same headliner artists and it was just an awesome hip hop show. David Banner was climbing the stage, stage diving into the bumpin’ crowd, and just goin’ word for word with extreme passion. He was a very entertaining live performer and I became more of a fan after his performance. Talib Kweli closed the show with some electrifying performances himself. It was a pleasure just 2 hear him spit so intelligently and so fast and he had the crowd movin’ like crazy when he closed the concert with, perhaps his most famous hit, “Get By”! All the artists performed with the Rhythm Roots All-Stars Band, which made for instrumentation that enhanced everyone’s performance and made for a unique experience. It was a great show and unfortunately we didn’t get a 10 minute freestyle like the ppl in D.C. above, but that video is a nice example of what went down at the Hip Hop Live Tour. GWHH would also like 2 express their condolences 2 Jennifer Hudson and her family after reading this absolutely tragic news story of her mother and brother’s homicide just this past weekend. Wow, what a shame.

The above track is all Talib spittin’ on a nice, slow, simple beat from Dela, which of course allows Talib to spray some clear wisdom and even attack “lullaby rappers”, a term I would love 2 adopt now, haha. Def a good hip hop track for ya ears. Down below, mainly R&B (or Pop&B), including the next T-Pain single with pop star and frequent collaborator, Chris Brown. I’m not really feelin’ it - autotune 2 the max here, but I’m sure it’s somethin’ that won’t sound bad in a club setting. (Just a thought… “One Nite Girl” by LA & Mr. Music above simply BLOWS “Freeze” away.. prolly a biased thought, but one that I’m sure many of you will agree with…) Anyway, more videos below as well with a Luda feature premiere, ConsTV’s latest installment, and Sarah Silverman hilariously endorsing Barack Obama! Had 2 MediaFire the track above cuz zShare had probs w/ just that file and not the ones below, but anyway, NEW JL & Kanye! It’s HQ, but not CDQ b/c the track was premiered on that radio show. I like it though. Kanye’s on the autotune once again, but it’s not annoying. JL is pretty nice on the chorus 2 the midtempo track. I’m expecting the CDQ version soon. Here’s 2day’s NEW music update with the feature track bein’ from one of my all-time favorites - DMX! It is a sincere, focused collaboration with the British singer, Seal, and it’s a hot one! I really like the DMX (and all rappers actually) when they really use their lyrics 2 focus on something meaningful, and this track is shades of that old DMX. Def a MUST-HAVE for the hip hop fans out there. Below, there’s some more quality trax that cover a variety of taste, as I’m really feelin the 2nd part of Joe Budden’s “Who”, which is nearly 6 minutes long of Budden straight up rapping on some throught-provoking issues of hip hop a la Pt. 1! Can’t wait for Pt. 3 of this lil’ series of trax. If ur a big Trey Songz fan like me, you’ll be satisfied with his 2 latest features, altho I’m not really feelin’ the entire trax as a whole.. and the 2 R&B trax at the bottom by Joe (shouts 2 Urban Music) and featuring Colby O’Donis are pretty solid as well. NEW Cool Kids! Couldn’t get up on this til now but above is a couple trax leaked from the upcoming Bake Sale EP, hitting iTunes and the streets 2morrow! Talk about a fresh new sound… if that’s what u are looking for, I can’t stress enough about the Chicago/Detroit hip hop duo - The Cool Kids. They are rapidly growing for me personally as well as the versatile flows over some of the most unique sounding beats I’ve heard in awhile create a real fresh, distinct sound. The songs above are no exception as they spit with a slow flow 2 match the raw beats. And I hadda share this NBA-inspired lyric below cuz the metaphor here is so on point, it’s ridiculous.

Below, you can check out another Chicago track (big ups 2 FSD) by Chi ILL & G.O.O.D. Music’s GLC that might take me a couple listens for it 2 grow on me and it has a lil’ bit of an addicting chorus. I also hit u guys up w/ a couple mainstream trax… Ciara’s 1st single off her upcoming album w/ Ludacris - Ciara hitting them really high notes over a crunk beat that makes for an interesting sound at least. The R&B group Rock City also released their cover of T.I.’s latest hit “No Matter What” and finally, Idle Warship hits us with their controversial video for their latest track, “Fall Back”, a web video illustrating their letter 2 presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.
