Thanks 2 DJ Booth for the heads-up on the release of the latest mixtape from G.O.O.D. Music’s GLC! The tracklist (as seen above) features some big names and up and coming artists and producers for a nice mix of talent that you most likely have yet 2 hear (myself included). I’m likin’ what I hear so far, especially the Kanye West-produced “Heaven” (different from the John Legend/Kanye-produced “Heaven”), which you can DL below along with a nice lyrical track from Wale, a Ne-Yo demo inspired by 2Pac (if u can catch that..), a track that u might like from T-Pain, and a couple videos as well! At the bottom, peep the genius cover for Kanye West’s 2nd single, “Heartless”! Enjoy!
***Fixed the Jadakiss video and added the latest ep. of ConsTV!
01. Universal Mind Control f/ Pharrell
02. Punch Drunk Love f/ Kanye West
03. Make My Day f/ Cee-Lo Green
04. Sex 4 Sugar
05. Announcement f/ Pharrell
06. Gladiator
07. Changes
08. Inhale
09. What A World
10. Everywhere
Above is the tracklist for Common’s next LP, Universal Mind Control, hittin’ stores on December 9th! Interesting that there’s only 10 tracks, but Common usually keeps the amount of trax low anyway. Lookin’ forward 2 the Kanye feature and the album in general. You know Common is goin 2 bring it lyrically and I’ve been feelin’ the 2 trax that have been leaked so far - the title track and “Announcement” f/ Pharrell. Another good hip hop album on the horizon is Q-Tip’s The Renaissance, which hits stores November 4th. Below, you can find a NEW version of his collabo w/ D’Angelo (a MUST-DL!) as well as more hip hop and R&B featuring Frankie J, R. Kelly, Kelly Rowland, & MORE (including videos)! Enjoy!
Tunji & Co. dropped us an e-mail w/ a real nice “Green Light” RMX that I had 2 share for ya’ll. The song keeps growing on me and hearing some of the RMXs out there definitely keep that goin’ for me. This is one u should peep at as well. Down below a few trax and videos and also a bonus video (thx 2 OneBlu in Jabbify) of Chi Bulls rookie, Derrick Rose and his 30 pts, 7 assist nite in a preseason game last nite. He also led a 4th quarter comeback for the win and straight up looked like the best player on the court. Yes, it’s preseason, but the 20 year old rookie is already showing the physical and mental makeup 2 be an absolute star in the L. I’ll be up at the Target Center in a few hours 2 get my first, LIVE look @ D-Rose & Co. and if ur an avid follower of GWHH, u know I’m psyched! Back late nite. Enjoy!
FULL, CDQ, Theme song for the upcoming Bond movie, Quantum Of Solace*Tibs Fav.™
So I saw the track above a couple days ago in fact, and on 1st listen, I was admittedly occupied and felt like it didn’t sound like Alicia at all. Well, I gave it another shot and found the best version I could and it’s a song that I shouldn’t like, but at the same time, it’s def solid and also the upcoming Bond theme. So def an interesting track that’s outta the ordinary 2 start it off. Down below, a bunch of R&B including trax from Robin Thicke, Jennifer Hudson, & bonus cuts from Joe! Enjoy!
In some Kanye West news, he announced that his upcoming album, 808’s & Heartbreak, will hit stores sooner than expected in November! And in yesterday’s news, he and fellow Chicago rapper, Rhymefest, will be a couple of producers on a Comedy Central pilot of a hip hop meets the Muppets show.
***ADDED ANOTHER ROBIN THICKE TRACK CUZ “TIE MY HANDS” IS ALSO ON THA CARTER III***
Just caught this as well before I catch some sleep - the first El Che video premiere by Rhymefest for the No I.D. produced “Stolen”! Love the video as it really illustrates and provides depth 2 the song’s lyrics. It’s a deep song and the children drawing in class, matched up with the drawings of characters like Rhymefest in the video was really cool. Def a MUST-WATCH! Enjoy!
Some Chicago hip hop for ya ears featuring unreleased trax from Rhymefest above & Lupe Fiasco below! Rhymefest is one of few rappers whose lyrics hit me on 1st listen and the 2 songs above are no different, with “Force Of Nature” having a nice, hard beat from DJ Jazzy Jeff! Another track from the old Lupe stash has hit the web and while its def a solid one, I don’t prefer this gangsta side of Lupe and the beats in general do not match the quality of beats that Lupe has gone over since. Judge for yourself as there’s never a song when Lupe doesn’t have a line that just makes u go, “Wow!”. There’s also some R&B for ya ears featuring a Keyshia Cole & Mario collaboration and another collaboration from Frankie J & Baby Bash that are both worth some DLs. Enjoy!
Lupe Fiasco “Intro” + “Kick, Push” LIVE @ Lollapalooza
Rhymefest “Brand New” LIVE @ Lollapalooza
The Cool Kids Interview @ Lollapalooza
Lollapalooza just wrapped up this weekend - a 3 day music festival featuring over 100 artists, including Chicago heavyweights, Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco, Rhymefest, & The Cool Kids. Some videos of the performances have surfaced the net and u can see them above, especially if you missed the show. Unfortunately, I was unable 2 attend w/ work all weekend so I personally can’t tell u how it was, but the lucky people who were there have been sharing nothing but great reviews! Above, Kanye kills “Put On”, Lupe Fiasco does some pushups, stretching, and even a backflip before launching into “Kick, Push” (haha, that’s great), Rhymefest destroys the stage with “Brand New”, & definitely check out the high quality interview with Mikey Rocks from The Cool Kids where u can learn more about the artist himself and his excitement 2 be @ Lollapalooza! Down below, check out a few trax, especially the rapper K-Smith & R&B singer Mario with their collaboration “Human Nature”. K-Smith drops a few nice lines with Mario sounding awesome over that beat. The Lloyd, U.K. Bonus Track is also somethin’ both R&B and hip hop fans would like! Enjoy!
Above is a brand NEW track from Chip himself, presumably on his upcoming Can’t Stop Me mixtape, and it’s a fresh one featuring Kid Cudi! The verses are all on point over a beat that both rappers excel on and is also my type of beat. Chip shows his versatility as he spits over a more laid-back beat compared 2 the hard bangers I am personally more accustomed 2 and it works for the better. Not 2 mention his overall flow is better than I’ve heard in previous trax, which goes with a catchy chorus that I can see myself singing along 2. I’m excited 2 see how the rest of the mixtape develops now, which should be coming soon according 2 his MySpace. Enjoy the exclusive above as well as the myriad trax below… starting with Jay-Z jumping on “Put On”, as well as Jeezy spittin’ some NEW verses. Gotta had it 2 Jay-Z (who I was never a big fan of) but he killed it here. Hmm, more hits than misses in the trax below.. I’m really diggin’ the Rhymefest track, but mainly because of Chamillionaire’s beastly verse and incredibly clever Lauren London reference which made me chuckle on 1st listen. Another nice reference occurs in the Busta Rhymes / Jadakiss collabo as a Shaq in Miami and Phoenix NBA reference caught my attention (as does any NBA reference, haha!) Just a bunch of hip hop and some R&B trax below! I’m sure u’ll find somethin’ u like so comment on what u do (and don’t!). Enjoy!
Here’s a couple of cover arts I stumbled upon recently for upcoming singles that I have really been lovin’ - “Green Light” & “Miss Independent”! Update ur iTunes artwork if u like and DL the songs if u don’t have them already below!
So here’s a lil somethin’ different up above - instead of a feature track, check out a sweet mixtape sent over from our friends at HIP HOP UPDATE - a themed mixtape called The Sole Of Hip Hop, where they compiled some of the best trax about fresh kicks! As somewhat of a shoehead myself, and certainly Max G. is up on his shoe game, we are fans of how the sneaker culture influences hip hop and vice versa. This mixtape is a nice reminder of how the two cultures blend 2gether. Peep the tracklist by clicking on the back cover above or check out the post at HHU! Down below is ur NEW music featuring some big names like Ne-Yo, jennifer Hudson, Kanye West, Mos Def, & MORE as well as NEW videos featuring more behind the scenes looks at upcoming videos as well as a recap of the Rock The Bells concert in Chicago we attended, Lupe Fiasco on CNN, a video premiere from The Game, & Jim Jones losing his mind and dissing Nas when Nas can absolutely destroy him! Haha, enjoy!
Producer: Polow Da Don - FULL, CDQ, Track off upcoming album, Lessons In Love *Tibs Fav.™
R&B singer Lloyd is prepping for his 3rd album, Lessons In Love, and this is the last batch of trax that we are sharing here at GWHH before the album hits stores on August 5th! And they are 2 of the better ones, especially the J. Lack produced “I’m Wit It”. If you recall, Lloyd and J. Lack first linked up for the huge hit “Get It Shawty” that was a summer anthem last year and this track is sure to be bumpin’ in the stereos well into the twilight of this summer. It’s not quite the banger as “Get It Shawty” but it’s surely a track that I’m feelin’ and the new-age R&B fans will enjoy as well. Down below peep some more hip hop featuring Rhymefest, an old (unreleased) Nas track, a Lil’ Wayne feature, and especially take the time to watch and respect the genius that is R&B singer/songwriter/producer Ryan Leslie as he gives viewers a special behind the scenes look at the making of his single “Addiction”. R. Les is just goin’ crazy on the boards and on the mic and it’s really neat 2 see his passion translating into the music. As a bonus video as well, check out a rare interview from 1994 back when Ryan Leslie was in high school (and bout 2 enter Harvard, where he graduated at age 19!?!) … I think me and him had the same glasses, haha! Anyway, that’s def an interesting view and for more Ryan Leslie on YouTube, subscribe 2 his official channel with many more behind the scenes looks HERE! Enjoy!
