Quick update for ur lazy Saturday w/ a hot R&B track from Casely, who is prolly tied w/ One Chance w/ the most amt of songs w/o an album even close 2 being completed, haha. The work ethic is there and this is a track that stands out amongst his best - hot, uptempo beat, nice lyrics; can’t ask for much more. Below is a request 2 one of my favorite trax right now, “Miss Independent”, which, as predicted, is startin’ 2 blow up the radio as it is climbing toward the top of the Billboard Hot 100! Also a couple quick-hit vids f/ Lil’ Wayne and the Madden battle between The Game & Bow Wow! Enjoy!
Here’s a couple more R&B trax that just surfaced, the first being a pounding slow jam by Chris Brown! Real nice, sexually charged lyrics here, haha, as the track as a whole reminds me more of a classic R&B track, as opposed 2 the fast, club R&B trax we’re used 2 with Chris Brown. Vocally, CB is definitely no Usher, but he is still nice on this track, and better than he usually is on slow jams. Def a quality R&B track that ya’ll should DL above! Below, is another solid R&B track by Ray Lavender.. just 2 much going on with background vocals that I think hurts the track, more than helps. Finally, for all those slow pokes that still don’t have T.I.’s first single, after the video premiered earlier this week, u can DL that below as well! Enjoy!
Producer: Polow Da Don - FULL, CDQ, Track off upcoming album, Lessons In Love *Tibs Fav.™
R&B singer Lloyd is prepping for his 3rd album, Lessons In Love, and this is the last batch of trax that we are sharing here at GWHH before the album hits stores on August 5th! And they are 2 of the better ones, especially the J. Lack produced “I’m Wit It”. If you recall, Lloyd and J. Lack first linked up for the huge hit “Get It Shawty” that was a summer anthem last year and this track is sure to be bumpin’ in the stereos well into the twilight of this summer. It’s not quite the banger as “Get It Shawty” but it’s surely a track that I’m feelin’ and the new-age R&B fans will enjoy as well. Down below peep some more hip hop featuring Rhymefest, an old (unreleased) Nas track, a Lil’ Wayne feature, and especially take the time to watch and respect the genius that is R&B singer/songwriter/producer Ryan Leslie as he gives viewers a special behind the scenes look at the making of his single “Addiction”. R. Les is just goin’ crazy on the boards and on the mic and it’s really neat 2 see his passion translating into the music. As a bonus video as well, check out a rare interview from 1994 back when Ryan Leslie was in high school (and bout 2 enter Harvard, where he graduated at age 19!?!) … I think me and him had the same glasses, haha! Anyway, that’s def an interesting view and for more Ryan Leslie on YouTube, subscribe 2 his official channel with many more behind the scenes looks HERE! Enjoy!
FULL, CDQ, Track off upcoming mixtape, Mixtape Messiah 4*Tibs Fav.™
Whoo, some more heat for ya on this July 17th with Chamillionaire yet again killing another well-known beat - this time Young Jeezy & Kanye West’s collaboration “Put On”! The song above is just another example as to why Chamillionaire is arguably the most versatile rapper in the game 2day, period. In fact, the whole Mixtape Messiah series is filled with Chamillionaire killin’ various types of beats by all the well-known artists and producers. He adapts his style 2 the production and does so brilliantly in almost every track. MM4 is coming on August 27th and the promo has begun with the sick cover above and the promo image inspired by the movie Hancock (still haven’t seen it, is it good?) below! Below that, check out a couple NEW trax by Philly’s Freeway & T-Pain, along with the “Everybody” request by Fonzworth, Kanye, 3000, & Sa-Ra! And finally, we’ll end the day on some “Magic” as Robin Thicke’s first single from his next album, Something Else, now has a video which u can watch at the bottom, along with the behind the scenes making of “Magic”! Enjoy!
Producer: DJ Green Lantern - FULL, CDQ, Track off upcoming mixtape, Liberty City Invasion*Tibs Fav.™
So I haven’t seen the track above floating around our affiliates and large network of blogs around the web (I haven’t checked every one), but regardless, we got this banger in our e-mail this morning, and I feel like sharing it b/c well, I haven’t seen the track or the Liberty City Invasion mixtape released yet. If it has been, who cares, it’s just another Busta track for his fans and I like his flow, one of the better in the game at that, and it’s definitely a heavy track for u 2 blast loud in ur speakers. (Hmm, just talked 2 the guy who sent it 2 us… I guess u heard it here first!)CLICK HERE for a full tracklisting of the DJ Green Lantern mixtape and tour dates for him & Nas!Down below is a couple R&B trax f/ R. Kelly & Cassie and below that, a couple live performances including Nas & Keri Hilson gracing the Jimmy Kimmel Live! stage with a sweet performance of “Hero”! Enjoy!
8 Min. Track with 30 second samples of every track off the upcoming album, Back To The Lyrics*Tibs Fav.™
First off, congrats 2 S-Preme for winning our first contest up above! Definitely worth checkin’ out cuz the young Chicago rapper kills the Mr. Music beat! As for 2day’s update, Bullet came thru with an album sampler, which is a sweet concept of 30 second snippets of every track from the album, which will be released July 29th!!! It all sounds good, with the snippet at around 4:50 sounding real promising! Down below, a bunch of hip hop for ya ears featuring Naledge from Kidz In The Hall with a sick freestyle, even dropping Utah Jazz coach, Jerry Sloan, haha. Also below are a couple unreleased trax from Talib Kweli, the Sean Bell Tribute featuring various rappers, the latest single featuring T-Pain as he collaborates with Yung Berg, & a sweet Usher snippet as well! Finally, get psyched b/c Lupe himself announced CRS will start filming a music video starting Wednesday! We bout 2 see some fireworks from Lu, ‘Ye, & Skateboard P! Enjoy!
FULL, CDQ, Verses over N*E*R*D’s “Spaz” *Tibs Fav.™
Bullet is back with another hot freestyle over a mainstream track, this one being N*E*R*D’s “Spaz”, which is one of my favorite beats from Seeing Sounds and compliments Bullet’s style perfectly! As we should now come 2 expect, Bullet goes hard and rips through the beat, especially with his break-neck paced final verse, which showcases his true Chicago, Twista-inspired flow. Pretty ridiculous that you’ll have 2 put it on again 2 make sure u didn’t miss anything! Down below, check out a beautiful live version of Alicia Keys’ “Superwoman” that you can’t help but at least respect, most likely enjoy. You can also take in 2 trax from the upcoming Gym Class Heroes album, Patches From The Quilt, as I especially like the cleverness of the Cool & Dre produced “Peace Sign”! Finally, I also upped some requests, including “Forbidden Fruit”, the future Ne-Yo/Shakira collabo. Apparently it’s not the final version, so I didn’t post it the other day when I was in a rush. I have since heard a request for it, as well as the Baby Bash/Frankie J 2003 hit “Suga Suga”. So DL them below if you wish. Enjoy!
About an hour later, I just added a few trax - the latest from FNF’s Bishop G (dope Dikembe Mutombo mention in there…), an old, rare Twista freestyle, and a hilarious Obama-inspired edition of “A Milli”, haha! Thx 2 FSD & my 3407 roomy for the finds. Enjoy!
First off, be sure 2 check out Max G.’s post, where we celebrate the 1st anniversary of Gowhere Hip Hop! It’s a must-read so please take the time 2 check it out and don’t just skim it looking for music. As for the music, FSD drops another old, unreleased song featuring a Chicago rapper, this one a freestyle with Lupe Fiasco. Likewise w/ Kanye West, it is very interesting 2 hear the growth and differences of old Lupe vs. NEW Lupe. As u can see in this freestyle, Lupe flows like his usual, top-notch self, but surely with a harder edge than the Lupe you’re prolly used 2. Of course he comes thru w/ some nice lines that is delivered on point as well. Below, u can check out some more NEW trax featuring T.I., Akon, Jennifer Hudson, Christina Milian, & MORE! The vid section contains the already much-talked about (and hilarious) Shaq freestyle where he disses former teammate Kobe Bryant. In case u haven’t seen it, u can see it below, but the statement Shaq released about the freestyle also warrants mentioning (u can see that below the video). U can also view a behind the scenes look at the making of the video for “Paris, Tokyo” by Lupe Fiasco. Enjoy!
I saw some Lupe Fiasco track requests of songs that were supposed 2 be on Lupe Fiasco’s Food & Liquor but were pulled b/c of the infamous leak. The 2 I picked were one of my all-time favorite Lupe trax “Spray Paint” f/ Ghostface & Mike Shinoda (Of Linkin Park & Fort Minor). I still can’t decide which rapper gets the nod for the best verse on this song, but they’re all so so sick. And another fresh track that I liked was “Lupe The Killer” (Killa.. Killa.. Killa..!), especially w/ lil sample voice going, “…and you ain’t dressed for this aff-air..”. Haha, I love that. If you don’t have these, please add them 2 ur Lupe collection and DL below! Enjoy!
“I was freestyling. That’s all. It was all done in fun. Nothing serious whatsoever. That is what mc’s do. They freestyle when called upon. I’m totally cool with Kobe. No issue at all. And by the way, don’t forget, six albums, two platinum, two gold. Anybody who knows me knows I’m a funny freestyler. Check the NBA DVD when I was wrapping about Vlade Divac during my first championship run. Please tell everybody don’t make something out of nothing.”
Another HUGE update for ya (sry, going 2 be inconsistent w/ timely updates the next few days…) with the feature track being the HOT, Swizz Beatz-produced?, RMX of Alicia Keys’ latest single “Teenage Love Affair” featuring LL Cool J! LL’s male perspective definitely adds 2 this song that was lyrically brilliant in the first place. Another big RMX below is from Usher for his latest single “Moving Mountains” featuring Hood Fella. Not sure if that’s official, but Hood Fella adds 2 the original beat pretty well also. More songs 2 add 2 ur collection include the latest GemStones track “Never Give Up”, which features the new and improved GemStones - meaningful, conscious lyrics and a beautiful, passionate chorus that brings the cliche some depth. The mixtape should be hitting the web within the next couple days as it’s finally done (unfortunately we couldn’t hit up the mixtape release party last nite). It’s just a matter of time and once it pops up in our e-mail or around the other blogs, u’ll see it on GWHH. Be sure 2 scroll below for the boatload of new hip hop and R&B trax, requests, and videos as the Keyshia Cole Letterman performance is especially worth ur time! Enjoy! (Big ups 2 FSD & NMC)
Producer: Alicia Keys, Kerry “Krucial” Brothers, & Dirty Harry - 2:28 Freestyle over the Alicia Keys Hit *Tibs Fav.™
Up above is the latest from NBA Baller and upcoming rapper, Ron Artest as he comes through with a freestyle over Alicia Keys’ mega-hit “No One”! He has clearly stepped up his skills on the mic as he has something 2 say about his experiences in his hometown of Queensbridge, NY and various analytical lines in his lyrics, name-dropping President Lincoln and Rudy Giuliani, for instance. I think the freestyle gets better toward the end, when u keep waiting for him 2 run out of gas, but instead, Artest increases the energy and flow. Judge for yourself above and expect more from Ron Artest here on GWHH in the near future! Below is a Kanye West request, “You Know”, which I have had credited to Kanye in my iTunes library… Kanye f/ Whiteboy Belo & John Legend - a track off of an old mixtape. Definitely a solid track that u should add 2 ur Kanye/JL collection! And finally, check out a video interview with The Roots! Enjoy!
