So we got an interesting track sent over 2 us 2day, that if others got it, they prolly skipped over, but I was initially attracted because Brandon Lloyd (B. Lloyd) is a WR I’ve followed since his days at the University of Illinois and now he plays for my hometown Bears. Turns out B. Lloyd is an aspiring rapper, and he showcases some nice flow on his 1st single w/ respected R&B singer, Bobby Valentino on the hook! I always find tracks by athletes very interesting, doubling as a big sports fan, and while most of them are below average, I think I might be bumpin’ this B. It is not often that a person has the opportunity to have, and fulfill, 2 separate and distinct career dreams but Brandon Lloyd aka B. Lloyd (if ya nasty) may just be one of them. Now a Wide Receiver for the Chicago Bears, Brandon Lloyd, who knew he wanted to be in the NFL since kindergarten, was a 4th round draft pick to the San Francisco 49ers back in 2003 and also played for the Washington Redskins before finding his home in Chicago. Living out a career as a pro athlete might have been enough for most but Brandon’s musical alter ego, who fell in love with Hip Hop after hearing Will Smith and DJ Jazzy Jeff’s Nightmare on My Street, also wanted to make music of his own.
A phone call to his agent by Still Hustlin’ Records owner and fellow artist and long-time friend, Renegade Foxxx gave B. Lloyd the label home, and the shot, he was looking for. With a first single that features the old school crooning of Bobby Valentino called “She All Mine” that is making all the right moves at radio (Corpus Christi, Lexington, Shreveport, Jackson, Baton Rouge, Gainsville, Tulsa, Biloxi, Augusta et al), it seems that Brandon has every chance of pulling off a career with his 2nd love. She All Mine is B. Lloyd’s musical reflection back on the dating escapades of he and his wife and he wrote it while the two were vacationing together.
“She All Mine is about a man who feels that his relationship with his lady is about more than the lovemaking.” he shares. “I knew Bobby Valentino’s voice would be a perfect fit for the song and he blessed me by being willing to grace the song of an up-and-coming artist. Not everyone is willing to do that.”
What drives this young man to not only pursue with equal fervor 2 very challenging career paths, but to offer himself up to the derision that often accompanies sports figures who try to break into music? The youngest of 7 children, Brandon Lloyd gives all of the credit for his incredible drive to his parents.
“I knew I wanted to be in the NFL when I was in kindergarten.” Brandon remembers. “I once got sent to the principle’s office for saying I wanted to be a professional football player in class when the teacher asked us all what we wanted to be when we grew up. The teacher said it was an ‘unrealistic goal.’ My Mom and Dad had always told me I could do anything I wanted. Just give it 100% and I can attain it.”
From where Brandon Lloyd is sitting right now, it looks like they might just be right.

The theme of the trax below is that many of them have great beats, by big name producers nonetheless, yet for whatever reason, I’m not really into the track. Shouts 2 Kev & Andrew for sendin’ thru the latest from our boy from Cleveland - Chip Tha Ripper w/ some excellent co-stars in Naledge, Mickey Factz, & Mic Terror! It’s a solid track that’ll be on Chip’s upcoming mixtape, which should be out any moment now. Def feelin’ Mickey’s & Naledge’s verses the most and many of u true hip hop heads will enjoy this track as well. The hip hop heads should already be familiar with the ATL’s Stat Quo, who was a rapper I first heard a few yrs ago and liked everything he was droppin. He is still with Shady/Aftermath from what I heard, but his debut album, Statlanta, has been constantly delayed and while it has apparently been completed for awhile, the label has yet 2 release it. The song above is Stat telling that story, along with other stories about his journey in the industry, Proof’s death, & more! Some pretty heartfelt lyrics attracted me right away on the 1st listen and reminded me why I liked Stat Quo in the first place. So if ur a big hip hop head, def give Stat a chance and DL 2day’s feature track above! Below, plenty more hip hop and R&B.. some thoughts on the trax below… Twista kills “The Business RMX”, Songz kills the hook on “Love For Money”, & I’m tryin’ 2 love Chris Brown’s “Captive”, but its slightly disturbing me that the song is in fact written in a girl’s perspective (a demo for the Pussycat Dolls… I can see Nicole S. on that Polow beat makin’ the radio for sure…). There’s also a couple videos featuring more from hip hop with Kidz In The Hall & Skillz! Enjoy!
BET also premiered the official video for T.I.’s 1st single, “Whatever You Like” on 106 & Park 2nite and I was just able 2 finally locate an embeddable version for GWHH! It is another MUST-WATCH video, with a really cool twist at the end. T.I. is another fly guy who shows why above as well. I wasn’t expecting much from this video, but it exceeded my expectations and also increased my feeling on the track. It is growing on me and will for sure blow up the radio the more I think about it. Music videos, in general, can do that for me and after watching the premieres for “Whatever You Like” & “Everyone Nose RMX” below, I just had 2 listen 2 the trax over and over again. Another track I’ll be listening 2 a lot is the SNIPPET by Chris Brown below. He hooks up again w/ Polow Da Don for yet another club-banging HIT! Sure fire, this one is crackin’ top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100, like the other Polow-produced CB single “Forever” (currently, and peaking @ #3), of course, whenever the full version is released! Above are a couple nice, nice trax from the boy R. Les as he comes thru with another R&B jam as the lyrics is the component that stands out on “Wanna Be Good”. He also remixes his own song with the “I.R.I.N.A. RMX”, showcasing his rap skills over a neat lil beat that features some beat boxing! And yes, he has them - he was a Harvard prodigy and can pretty much do everything, haha. I like both trax that are a nice addition 2 ur library. Naledge (Of Kidz In The Hall).. Mugshot, haha.
“Double O from the hip hop group Kidz In The Hall was assaulted by several bouncers early Saturday morning, July 26, while inside a nightclub in Tempe, AZ following a Kidz In The Hall performance. Group member and friend Naledge, who did not witness the assault on Double O, was arrested outside of the club. Naledge’s attempt to get medical assistance for Double O was misconstrued as a hinderence to the investigation. Reports that no injuries were sustained are false as Double O was taken to the hospital with multiple injuries from the excessive force used by club security. On Sunday morning Double O underwent surgery for one of his injuries. He is still in the hospital, but in stable condition.” (Thx 2 Matt C. for the e-mail!)
The story above pretty much explains it and altho Naledge seems happy (in the mugshot, I’m sure not in general), we hope Double-O can make a speedy recovery and that the incident was nothing more than a misunderstanding. R&B singer Lloyd is prepping for his 3rd album, Lessons In Love, and this is the last batch of trax that we are sharing here at GWHH before the album hits stores on August 5th! And they are 2 of the better ones, especially the J. Lack produced “I’m Wit It”. If you recall, Lloyd and J. Lack first linked up for the huge hit “Get It Shawty” that was a summer anthem last year and this track is sure to be bumpin’ in the stereos well into the twilight of this summer. It’s not quite the banger as “Get It Shawty” but it’s surely a track that I’m feelin’ and the new-age R&B fans will enjoy as well. Down below peep some more hip hop featuring Rhymefest, an old (unreleased) Nas track, a Lil’ Wayne feature, and especially take the time to watch and respect the genius that is R&B singer/songwriter/producer Ryan Leslie as he gives viewers a special behind the scenes look at the making of his single “Addiction”. Whoo, a ton of heat for your summer night 2nite and I’ll start off by explaining an unorthodox feature track for the day - Just Blaze’s instrumental for Team USA’s Olympic run later this summer! Think “The Second Coming” but better (yes, it’s that good) as the beat is perfect for pumpin’ u up and switches throughout from uptempo to ominous and it’s just brilliant. Now here’s the cool part: Nike Basketball will be having a contest where the you, the MC, can drop a verse that will be featured over that beat! So if I were an upcoming MC, I would DL that beat (in addition 2 our contest — ONLY 3 MORE DAYS!) and take some time 2 showcase ur skills for another great opportunity 2 get some exposure! And man, this beat and the picture above [featuring Illinois fav. Deron Williams! (far right)] is already enough 2 get me hyped for the competition in Beijing in just another month or so!
Down below, definitely some trax u have 2 DL. Another Go Getters track has hit the web (big ups FSD) and while I’m not really feelin’ the annoying hook, the verses are on point, including another neat glimpse at Kanye pre-accident. Let’s see.. Chamillionaire always brings the heat and drops some nice lines on his version of “Hero”. Also be sure 2 DL the Lil’ Wayne featured track by Kevin Rudolf “Let It Rock”, which may come as a surprise 2 u b/c I am praising a track with Lil’ Wayne, but this is a perfect example of when I like him. New-comer Kevin Rudolf absolutely kills it and Weezy enhances the track with solid verses that flows nicely over the rockish-popish beat. I can see this one blowin’ up the radio by the end of summer! Finally, I’m also diggin’ the 2 NEW Chris Brown trax, especially the one produced by Bryan-Michael Cox - one of his better beats, which is def sayin’ somethin’ since all of them are pretty damn good. That’s all I got for now, and I will be online very sparingly this weekend as I’ll be outta town this weekend, but I should try 2 find some time 2 update still. Enjoy!
