This post is dedicated 2 another up and coming rapper from Chicago - Y.G.! He comes hard and rips with that Chicago flow, another rapper u shouldn’t sleep on. Above u can DL his latest mixtape and below, 2 of the standout trax from the mixtape - his 1st single “On Fiya” f/ Primo, which is a real nice banger that is already gaining airplay around the Go, most recently on WGCI 107.5, my favorite radio station out here. Also, Y.G. & fellow Chicagoan, Lungz, come thru on the Mobb Deep classic, “Shook Ones”, as they don’t hold back over the instrumental. So DL both of the trax and the mixtape as well and find out more info about Y.G. w/ his bio below & links 2 his MySpace and Lungz’ MySpace & blog! (Thx 2 “Hu$tle” for sending this thru!) Enjoy!
Y.G. Bio:
Carrying the banner for Chicago’s notorious “Wild 100’s” (specifically Roseland & West Pullman-ask about him) YG epitomizes the living essence of what Chicago produces as an emcee; a hardened street veteran that fuses wisdom beyond his years with a commitment to entertainment.
Spending his younger years playing ball or out grinding in the streets, YG never envisioned himself as a rapper until he learned that he had an inherent skill that he became inspired to explore. Experiencing the anguish of witnessing friends perish from gun violence or facing extensive prison sentences, ( including his brother KG catching a 25 year prison bid); YG sets out to prove both to himself and detractors from within his own circle that he could carve a different, more difficult path where so many had fallen and leave the carnage and tribulations of his past behind him. YG is out to prove to the world that he doesn’t want to merely survive, but to conquer.
With his brother and fellow Hoodlumz group member KG currently incarcerated, YG is striving to arise from this setback and persevere as a solo artist, now voracious for exposure. Inspired by such rappers as LL Cool J, Jay-Z, & Busta Rhymes, YG aspires to become not just another mixtape rapper, but an enduring creator of polished street music that will keep the parties entertained yet also provoke thought on the block. Although its not uncommon to want to be paid to do what they love, YG is dedicated to delivering an authentic, quality product. According to YG; “I love creating, I want people to actually listen to the words, memorize them, recite them”.He believes it isn’t unrealistic or arrogant to claim that he wants to become counted among the rap legends, because he believes that his potential has only just begun to be manifest. Having lived the struggles as a black youth coming of age in the notoriously brutal Chi-town streets, Glacier City’s own YG sets forth to demonstrate his perseverance as a true student of the craft.
FULL, CDQ, Track off upcoming album, First Love*Tibs Fav.™
Large update, starting with another nice track from up and comer R&B singer Karina Pasian! It’s a slow jam that should be on her upcoming album of the same name, in stores August 19th! More trax below feature a pretty sick beat by The Underdogs, a nice Chris Brown feature, & Mikkey Halsted ripping thru one of my all-time favorite beats (Mobb Deep - “Shook Ones Pt. 2″). Finally, a ton of videos for u 2 look at, including behind the scenes looks at music videos from CRS, Lupe Fiasco, & T.I., and a bunch of Rock The Bells interviews with all the various artists on the bill. Enjoy!
Producer: Polow Da Don - FULL, CDQ, Track off upcoming album, Lessons In Love *Tibs Fav.™
R&B singer Lloyd is prepping for his 3rd album, Lessons In Love, and this is the last batch of trax that we are sharing here at GWHH before the album hits stores on August 5th! And they are 2 of the better ones, especially the J. Lack produced “I’m Wit It”. If you recall, Lloyd and J. Lack first linked up for the huge hit “Get It Shawty” that was a summer anthem last year and this track is sure to be bumpin’ in the stereos well into the twilight of this summer. It’s not quite the banger as “Get It Shawty” but it’s surely a track that I’m feelin’ and the new-age R&B fans will enjoy as well. Down below peep some more hip hop featuring Rhymefest, an old (unreleased) Nas track, a Lil’ Wayne feature, and especially take the time to watch and respect the genius that is R&B singer/songwriter/producer Ryan Leslie as he gives viewers a special behind the scenes look at the making of his single “Addiction”. R. Les is just goin’ crazy on the boards and on the mic and it’s really neat 2 see his passion translating into the music. As a bonus video as well, check out a rare interview from 1994 back when Ryan Leslie was in high school (and bout 2 enter Harvard, where he graduated at age 19!?!) … I think me and him had the same glasses, haha! Anyway, that’s def an interesting view and for more Ryan Leslie on YouTube, subscribe 2 his official channel with many more behind the scenes looks HERE! Enjoy!
Here’s a couple quick-hit vids for ya - ya’ll gotta check out the Rhymefest LIVE video. He pulls out a random white guy in the crowd 2 rap the Kanye verse on his hit single “Brand New”. Props 2 the white guy who knows all the words, but hahaha - he can’t rap or breathe even at times. It’s hard 2 understand him also. It made me laugh at least, but I gotta hand it 2 the guy - that’s not the easiest thing 2 do. Also enjoy that NEW Prodigy video above! Enjoy!
And lettin’ ya’ll kno that Dj MiniMaxX released Part 2 of his Heard It In ‘07 Mixtape! DL and check out his blog below (for the tracklists 2 both parts as well!)
Here’s an exclusive Pre-Prison Prodigy Interview with Chicago’s very own DJBOOTH.NET
Download the interview below or read/check it out at DJBOOTH.NET HERE.
Prodigy is going to prison on Feb. 20 for 3.5 years. He had two medical reprieves this month, due to his sickle-cell anemia (during which he admits to filming sixteen videos for the upcoming project). Prodigy planned the release process of his new album and other tracks prior to serving time, and gave all rights to his wife while gone. It’s a good interview, check it out.
HUGE Update for u late nite viewers (Note that Tuesdays and Thursdays are my real busy days and I won’t be able 2 update til late nite…) Anyway, above is a supposed unreleased old school Lupe Fiasco track, with the literal title haha. From what I can tell no one knows where it is from but it is either from before Food & Liquor or just a NEW, recent track… either way, I’ve never heard it and I have all the Lupe songs I see and its a straight up ridiculous beat and track overall! Scroll down below for a bunch of Tibs Favs, including the “Ghetto Rich RMX” and HQ version of Usher’s NEW single “Love In The Club” as well as the video premiere 2 Chingy’s latest single, “Gimme Dat” f/ Bobby Valentino and Ludacris! I kno Chingy is not well-liked but he holds his own and the features and beat make that track a good one. Enjoy!
