Truthfully, somewhat of a forgettable update for me cuz I’m not really diggin’ a lot of the NEW trax; however, Royce Da 5′9″ comes thru with a very respectable hip hop track over a real nice DJ Premier beat! His rhymes are clear and fast, yet you’re still able 2 follow them on 1st listen. Down below, Beyoncé comes thru with her first 2 official singles off her next album, I Am… (I’ve also seen that the album will be called Virtuoso, but idk which it is for sure..?). They are actually really great songs for the ladies, especially the slow jam “If I Were A Boy”, but as the titles of the songs suggest, guys like me can’t really relate and put the song on repeat, haha. I know that Mrs. Carter’s female fans will LOVE those singles tho as it also warrants mentioning that the “Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)” track is her club banger single. Finally, peep the various trax and videos below and u’ll prolly find somethin’ u like. Enjoy!

Big ups 2 lupEND for sending this thru - a Lupe Fiasco feature that is supposedly new (I don’t have it at least). But don’t get fooled, this is a song where Bishop G shines… u should know Bishop G destroying “Little Weapon” on Lupe Fiasco’s The Cool.. FNF UP! But Lupe does nothing else than provide a real nice hook, while Bishop kills it w/ the clarity that made me like him a lot in the first place, even cleverly referencing my favorite team in any sport - Chicago Cubs and Michael Jordan’s gambling controversy from about 15 years ago. Damn. Sweet track from another Chicago rapper that ya’ll shouldn’t sleep on. Down below some more solid trax w/ Big Boi comin’ thru on a unique, hard track called “Dubbz”, Nappy Roots RMXing that catchy tune “Good Day” w/ a Barack Obama flair (shouts 2 2dope).. I really like Robin Thicke’s 2nd single, slow jam w/ lyrics that’ll speak 2 any fan of R&B. Ciara and Missy Elliott come through with “1, 2 Step 2008″ “Work”, a catchy Danja-produced track and Paula DeAnda comes thru w/ a song that I like called “I Was Ready”. Finally, take a peek at the Alfamega video below. Enjoy!
So we got an interesting track sent over 2 us 2day, that if others got it, they prolly skipped over, but I was initially attracted because Brandon Lloyd (B. Lloyd) is a WR I’ve followed since his days at the University of Illinois and now he plays for my hometown Bears. Turns out B. Lloyd is an aspiring rapper, and he showcases some nice flow on his 1st single w/ respected R&B singer, Bobby Valentino on the hook! I always find tracks by athletes very interesting, doubling as a big sports fan, and while most of them are below average, I think I might be bumpin’ this B. Lloyd / Bobby Valentino track well into the near future! Check out more info on B. Lloyd and the track below and check him out on MySpace HERE:
It is not often that a person has the opportunity to have, and fulfill, 2 separate and distinct career dreams but Brandon Lloyd aka B. Lloyd (if ya nasty) may just be one of them. Now a Wide Receiver for the Chicago Bears, Brandon Lloyd, who knew he wanted to be in the NFL since kindergarten, was a 4th round draft pick to the San Francisco 49ers back in 2003 and also played for the Washington Redskins before finding his home in Chicago. Living out a career as a pro athlete might have been enough for most but Brandon’s musical alter ego, who fell in love with Hip Hop after hearing Will Smith and DJ Jazzy Jeff’s Nightmare on My Street, also wanted to make music of his own.
A phone call to his agent by Still Hustlin’ Records owner and fellow artist and long-time friend, Renegade Foxxx gave B. Lloyd the label home, and the shot, he was looking for. With a first single that features the old school crooning of Bobby Valentino called “She All Mine” that is making all the right moves at radio (Corpus Christi, Lexington, Shreveport, Jackson, Baton Rouge, Gainsville, Tulsa, Biloxi, Augusta et al), it seems that Brandon has every chance of pulling off a career with his 2nd love. She All Mine is B. Lloyd’s musical reflection back on the dating escapades of he and his wife and he wrote it while the two were vacationing together.
“She All Mine is about a man who feels that his relationship with his lady is about more than the lovemaking.” he shares. “I knew Bobby Valentino’s voice would be a perfect fit for the song and he blessed me by being willing to grace the song of an up-and-coming artist. Not everyone is willing to do that.”
What drives this young man to not only pursue with equal fervor 2 very challenging career paths, but to offer himself up to the derision that often accompanies sports figures who try to break into music? The youngest of 7 children, Brandon Lloyd gives all of the credit for his incredible drive to his parents.
“I knew I wanted to be in the NFL when I was in kindergarten.” Brandon remembers. “I once got sent to the principle’s office for saying I wanted to be a professional football player in class when the teacher asked us all what we wanted to be when we grew up. The teacher said it was an ‘unrealistic goal.’ My Mom and Dad had always told me I could do anything I wanted. Just give it 100% and I can attain it.”
From where Brandon Lloyd is sitting right now, it looks like they might just be right.
There’s also some trax below 2 DL featuring a bunch of big names like Lil’ Wayne, Ne-Yo, Busta Rhymes, & much MORE! The theme of the trax below is that many of them have great beats, by big name producers nonetheless, yet for whatever reason, I’m not really into the track. It’s lacking that something special I suppose, but that doesn’t mean some of these won’t grow on me. Check ‘em out below and enjoy (Shouts 2 Urban Music for some of the exclusives!)
Jazmine Sullivan is an R&B singer and a RMX f/ mega stars T.I. & Missy Elliott has surfaced for her song “Need You Bad”. I’m not big on Missy at all, but this song is a nice one that touches a chord w/ me with Jazmine’s nice voice and T.I.’s slow flow, yet solid lyrics (and slow flow can be good as u should kno..) More R&B that deals w/ boys & girls can be found below, including a nice lil’ slow jam from Ne-Yo, a solid new-age R&B track by Mario Winans and of course, some hip hop w/ Naledge showin’ his intelligence in a freestyle. Of course there’s more trax below that u may like, along w/ some video interviews w/ Lil’ Wayne, LL Cool J, a Snoop Dogg featured video, and behind the scenes w/ Donnie Klang & Diddy (u kno.. if MTB is not enough of an inside look into their lives, haha!) Enjoy!
Happy Valentine’s Day 2 ya’ll! If you’re lookin’ for that playlist of R&B slow jams that will woo ur Valentine 2day, then look no further then the latest mixtape from my boy DJ B-Bop entitled I’ll Be Right Here! It is a collection of DJ B-Bop’s favorite OLD school AND NEW school Valentine’s Day related R&B trax, including a HQ version of the Ryan Leslie HIT “Valentine”, which I posted yesterday! Definitely should be blowin’ up in your stereos later 2nite,
Special thx 2 DJ B-Bop! Peep the tracklist and DL below!
Tibs is back.. been out of town for the weekend, but back with a couple tracks. First, I saw the music video in a Champs about a week ago and definitely had to get it. Great vibe to this song and Common’s verse brings out chills. The song was released in July as Joss Stone’s 2nd single off her album.
The new remix of Keyshia Cole’s hit “Let It Go” recently leaked and it features T.I., Missy Elliot, & Young Dro. It will be released on Keyshia’s new album Just Like You. From the sound of the remix, Just Like You looks like an album to keep an eye on, to be released on September 25th from G.O.O.D. Music.
Finally, here are a couple of the pics I got when I met Common at Best Buy in Chicago for an autograph signing. In the brief exchange I had with Common, he immediately came off as a real chill dude and of course very friendly to the people. What came as a surprise to me was how large he is.. at least 6′-4″ and built like a football player. Anyway, it was an awesome day for me and all his fans in Chicago who were able to make it. Aite, here are the pics…
