post GWHH Review: Ludacris - Theater Of The Mind

December 3rd, 2008

Filed under: Common, DJ Premier, Jay-Z, Ludacris, Nas, Plies, Reviews — Sgt. Tibs @ 9:11 pm

Another day, another GWHH Review. This one of Ludacris’ 6th LP, Theater Of The Mind, which is in stores NOW! The album is packed with “co-stars” as, to paraphrase Luda, each track is like their own movie. It makes for a diverse hip hop album with each track’s guest stars providing a fresh new sound over beats that do the same. Consequently, the album’s sound will keep listeners coming back, depending on what kind of track they are in the mood for. The kinds of tracks that really shine on Theater Of The Mind are when Luda finds his deepest lyrical side and spreads a meaningful message. He does so with the help of A-listers Jay-Z, Nas, Lil’ Wayne, & Common and in the process solidifies his status amongst them, in some cases, outperforming them. Exhibit A: Ludacris’ masterful and passionate 1st verse on what I feel is the strongest track off the album, “Last Of A Dying Breed” f/ Lil’ Wayne. It’s the unmatched combination of passion and reflection along with fun wordplay and clever references that make “Last Of A Dying Breed” the track of the album.

“(Aowwww!) Luda!
I done killed so many niggaz in the booth I sell rappers on eBay (hey!)
Cause every one of my verses been instant like replays (hey!)
Speakers get blown like candles on yo’ B-day (hey!)
Cause Luda’s catalog got mo’ records than the DJ (woo!)
The bank yells “MAYDAY” cause every day’s a payday
I put it on tape and then I’ll sell it like Ray J
But not out the sto’ (nope) straight to the buyer
Cause I slung ‘em out my trunk like the D.C. sniper
And six albums later you’ll deposit every word
‘Til your memory bank gives me the credit I deserve
Top 5, damn right! But really it just hit me
that three of yo’ top 5’s too scared to FUCK with me (woo!)
So how can I advance if you don’t give me no opponents? (yeah)
How can you see the future if you livin for the moment? (yeah)
Hip-Hop couldn’t die, I never offer my condolence
But I’ll offer y’all a day of atonement - cause”

- Ludacris “Last Of A Dying Breed” f/ Lil’ Wayne

It would not be a Ludacris album if he did not have a couple tracks to start the party and he does so with his first two singles, “What Them Girls Like” f/ Chris Brown & Sean Garrett and “One More Drink” f/ T-Pain! While the singles scream a formulaic appeal to the mainstream, Ludacris delivers on both tracks with clever punchlines and storytelling that make the tracks even appeal to fans of his raw style. In fact, Ludacris shines as one of the most clever and fun rappers on Theater Of The Mind, moreso than any of his previous albums where he made a name for that same style. His punchlines are undeniable to even the casual listener as even non-hip hop fans chuckle at some of Ludacris’ lines that he delivers with clarity and passion. Not only would I recommend this album to all fans of hip hop, but if you were trying to pick a hip hop album from 2008 to appeal to a casual fan of mainstream music, pick Theater Of The Mind. It has all the elements to appeal to almost any listener and Ludacris has never been at a higher point in his game. I am already looking forward to the curtain call!

post Kanye West “Say You Will RMX” f/ Trey Songz - MORE

December 3rd, 2008

Kanye West “Say You Will RMX” f/ Trey Songz

Producer: Kanye West - FULL, CDQ, UNOFFICIAL RMX *Tibs Fav.™

Another HOT “Say You Will RMX” for ya ears, with this one featuring no stranger to remixes: Trey Songz! Songz pours out some emotion, raps, and sings over the first 3 and a half minutes of the powerful, eerie Kanye beat. He matches the emotion of Mr. West on the track and it’s definitely one that you’ll enjoy. Consider it a MUST-DL! Another must-have track is Keyshia Cole’s “You Complete Me”. It’s a nice, slow-tempo R&B track with great lyrics and a great performance from Keyshia, whose album, A Different Me, is coming out December 16th! Further down below are a few more trax and a few interviews and behind the scenes look featuring artists like Ludacris, Busta Rhymes, and Consequence. Finally, Z has part 2 of the Chamillionaire interview up and running and it is definitely an interesting read/listen. Below is a snippet  from the interview about “Hip Hop Police” that I was always curious about and the link to the interview. Enjoy!

On Being Forced to Release “Hip-Hop Police” as a Single:

“What people don’t know is, [off] the last album, “Hip Hop Police,” which I liked - it’s a creative record - is the equivalent of me doing the “Internet Nerds” record on Mixtape Messiah. I didn’t want it as a single, but the label wanted it as a single, so I went with it. I fought it at first, but I lost, and it ended up being a single. So now, when the public views it, they’re like, “Well, Chamillionaire’s dope, but he doesn’t have a good choice of single,” those are idiots who don’t know how the industry works.”

Kanye West Press Conference in New Zealand

Hip hop related videos galore including an interesting (when is it not?) press conference featuring Kanye West, who already released a statement about it on his blog:

“When I listened back to the New Zealand conference I was like whoa this is pretty harsh. Sometimes I speak with no filter. I did not mean to be so harsh on the subject of Christianity being that I was a well known Christian. When I was at my Mom’s funeral a fucking stranger came up to me and said, “I hope you’ve accepted Jesus as your saviour so you can see your Mother again!” My entire life, being an african american, Christianity was forced down my throat. Since I was a child, I would ask questions like, “so are little babies that can’t speak yet going to hell also?” I one thousand percent believe in God, I believe in Karma, I believe in being a good person. I’m not trying to tell people what they should believe or not believe. To each is his own. I was in situations where someone constantly used Jesus to show me how baaaad a person I was or how not perfect or not Christ like I was. When I say I don’t want to be Christ like I’m saying I’m fine with not being perfect. I’m fine with being a human being. I’m happy with just that.”

- Kanye West

post Gowhere Hip Hop EXCLUSIVE Interview: Chamillionaire

November 24th, 2008

Filed under: Chamillionaire, Interviews, Ludacris, Lupe Fiasco — Sgt. Tibs @ 3:00 pm

Chamillionaire.com

Gowhere Hip Hop is proud to present yet another exclusive interview with Houston’s finest, Chamillionaire! Perhaps our biggest interview yet, Chamillionaire has a lot of EXCLUSIVE input on his newest mixtape, Mixtape Messiah 5, released yesterday! He also discusses a lot of NEW details about Mixtape Messiah 6, the upcoming LP, Venom, the Chicago hip hop scene, and Barack Obama! This is a MUST-READ GWHH EXCLUSIVE Interview and I’ll let the rest speak for itself. (Special thanks to Nancy B. & Koopa himself for everything!) Enjoy!

GWHH: First things first, we got the latest installment of the Mixtape Messiah series droppin’ this SUNDAY with Mixtape Messiah 5! All your fans that have been there from the beginning are definitely psyched for this one, so can you discuss what we can expect from Mixtape Messiah 5? More RMXs of today’s hits? Or any other collaborations you got lined up for it?

Chamillionaire: Mixtape Messiah 5 is basically just more material man. That’s what I wanna say. More material in a short period of time. I dropped Mixtape Messiah 4 not too long ago and I wanted to show the fans that just hard work pays off. I feel like I want to come back real quick and stay in their minds because people got short attention spans nowadays. I don’t see any other artists droppin’ this many mixtapes like this man. This quality of mixtapes back to back like that. They’re fully pressed up in the streets, we’re droppin’ it from the car shows, fans online will be able to get it. The Mixtape Messiah series is a very popular brand and I’m just tryin’ to heat it up and stick it to people’s heads. Basically, it’s just more material. Honestly a lotta times I hit a lot of artists man, and they’ll be like, “I wanna get on the Mixtape Messiah series”, and then I wait for them and I have to wait too long for them to take a while to deliver one freestyle and I move quick man, I can get in there and do 5 or 6 a day. A lot of people don’t have that work ethic and they’ll send me one by the time I finish the CD. So I just hold it or don’t even use it, you know? I think a lot of artists are just not as fast.

GWHH: Yeah I can definitely see that and it has always shown in all the material that you come up with. I know you touched on it a little bit already, but could you also discuss the strategy behind releasing Mixtape Messiah 5 less than 3 months after Mixtape Messiah 4 and shortly before the release of your next LP, Venom, due out in early 2009?

Chamillionaire: I plan to actually drop another Mixtape Messiah before Venom even drops. Because I actually didn’t wanna overdo it with this Mixtape Messiah, you know, no triple disc, no double disc, it’s one disc.. And I kept a little bit of the material and I’m a drop this right before… All this is very strategized. I understand they got a lot of content before; I don’t wanna overdo it but then I don’t want to underdo it too. So right before my album, I feel like I gotta hit them with another big bang. One that lets everyone know when the album is droppin’. Right now I say early 2009, but I need that date to be so stuck in people’s heads so I need somethin’ big to drop at that time to let people know the date. I plan to drop another one right before that one so it’s very strategic. This one is just to fill in that middle space before I drop that big bomb. Then after that, the bigger bomb will be my album, which I feel like is one of the dopest albums I’ve done, so you know? I’m pretty confident about this one.

GWHH: Great! That transitions right into what I wanted to talk about next with Venom. Details are starting to leak out about the album and I wanted your direct thoughts on what the story is behind the title and do you have any general ideas or concepts that you can share about how the album as a whole is going to shape up?

Chamillionaire:Venom has a lot of meanings to me man. Where I’m at right now in my career man, Venom is the perfect name. ‘Cause I was sittin’ there thinkin’ about Spiderman and I was thinkin’ about how Spiderman wants to save the world and do all that cool stuff. And then you got the bad guy who was dressed in a black suit. He’s just cooler man; you pay attention to him more. That’s how I look at people nowadays. The nice guy, the humble guy.. he always gets overlooked. Not to say I’ma be this bad guy, but it’s time to reinvent, it’s time to get people payin’ attention because right now, nobody remembers your the dopest until you say your the dopest. Even Luda, me and Luda being on the first single “Creepin’ (Solo)” is ironic because he’s just another guy that people overlook because he’s very nice. If you want to ask him to come and record a record, he comes to the studio by himself and no security or nothin’. and most rappers aren’t even like that. No jewelery on or nothin’. He just came in as almost like Chris Bridges. And then he invited me to his house like Chris Bridges instead of Ludacris. And I was lookin’ for the Ludacris guy. And that’s kinda how I am, you know? He ripped the song so hard, that I think he was tryin tried to make a statement too. He did a 20-somethin’ bar verse on the song. I think it’s one of the longest verses I’ve ever heard Luda do. It’s like he was sayin’ also, “You gotta stop overlookin’ me!” You know, I’m tryin’ to get mad, I’ma try to be good for you people. Then you overlook me and that I’m gonna allow that at this point of my career, I’m just not. I’m not goin’ to allow that. So that’s where the Venom comes from. If you know what venom is, if it gets in your system, it changes the person that you know. Money, success, everything, there’s people that come out to try and sue you. So much stuff happens when people see you have success. They start comin’ at you and tryin’ to take it. You have to change. You have to become the person to block all that stuff from happenin’. That’s where I’m at now. i explain some of that stuff and I have a lotta viral, visual blogs that’ll go on my website to promote this album and explain the story behind the album and stuff that has me a little ticked off, you know?

GWHH: Yeah, definitely. You were also already discussing it, but I wanted to actually follow up on the first single, “Creepin’ Solo” f/ Ludacris, you know? It has already created a positive buzz around the internet in the short week that it has been out there, further illustrating the versatile rapper/lyricist of Chamillionaire. Could you talk about the record itself and how it came about, who approached who, etc.?

Chamillionaire: Well, I was doin’ a lot of recordin’ in Atlanta and DJ Montay had the track. He’s the producer. I actually had a different hook on there at the time. And when Luda came off, I didn’t play it for him because I wasn’t happy with the hook. The hook was a little bit more friendlier, a lil bit more commercial. I was gonna play it for him and he’s like, “Why don’t you come to my house and just play for me what you want me to rap on?”. The next day I went to his house and I had the hook on it that I wanted and that was the first song he heard and he’s like, “I want to rap on this one”. He knew before that he wanted to rap on this one before he ever heard any others. I’m at his house and he just ripped it and sent it right back to me. And then I heard it and I was like, “Whoa!”. He rapped for such a long time. I actually had another verse on the song and I was just tryin’ to go at Ludacris. Like I was tryin’ to talk randomly.. about whatever, a whole bunch of punchlines to go at Ludacris’ verse. And then when I listened to it for awhile, I was like, “Damn, it sounds like I’m tryin’ too hard.” So I changed it because Luda just snapped! “Blowin’ a hole in a floor with a bazooka” and “How much wood could a woodchuck chuck..” So I was just like, I actually changed mine. I gotta add the purpose with the lyricism and that’s what I think will make people think it’s a good song, ’cause that’s what I want. I want people to say it’s a good song. A lot of times I come out with a song and people are questioning it; they think it’s risky. And this time I don’t think it’s that risky, you know what I mean?

GWHH: Yeah, I definitely hear that. It’s great to hear that artists can push each other to make the track even better and that’s really interesting to hear you say. About the album again in general, could you share more details about what else we can expect from the album? Any more big-name producers or collabos lined up?

Chamillionaire: I went and worked with a lotta people from Drumma Boy, who’s done a lotta hot stuff.. uhh, Don Cannon, J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League, Mannie Fresh. A list of people. I have so many tracks. I’m not sure completely ’cause the label is tryin’ to make me put less songs on the album that I actually want to. But nowadays, you pay attention to albums they have 12 songs on them or somethin’ ’cause artists have a cap in their contract where you only get paid for that much anyway. The label never want you to put more songs on there. So you see when Lil’ Wayne or T.I. has 19 songs? A lot of those are just extra songs they just put on there. I like to give people more. You see what I got with mixtapes, I’ve done double discs before, mixtapes right behind my other one, and I like to give people more. I’m still havin’ the argument to put more songs on the album ’cause you hate to have so many good songs and have this material with all these people and you want to tell this story on a record, and it’s hard to do it with less records, you know what I mean? We’re still at that point right now. I have an unreleased Pimp C song on my album. He actually produced it too. That is really jammin’. And I have a song with Good Charlotte, which.. will be pretty big, pretty big. Everyone who’s heard that has been like, “Yeah! It’s one of those records!” [chuckles]. That’s for a lil’ somewhere else down the line, right now I want somethin’ else.. Ahh, waht else do I got? ..Well, I don’t want to say too much, but those two will definitely be on there.

GWHH: Yeah definitely. I understand. One last thing relating to Venom… You made waves with last year’s release of Ultimate Victory being curse-free, while also providing listeners with an intelligent perspective on real world issues. Is it safe to assume Venom will be the same way and could you explain the thought process behind that?

Chamillionaire: Venom, me personally… People know I don’t really curse like that in my raps and Venom will not be a curse-free album. I’m not gonna allow people to edit the other rappers that curse, you know what i mean? Pimp C might not have even one curse… Ehh, well maybe he had one! [chuckles]. And umm, the features that are on there, there will be some. And honestly, last time around, I really didn’t even want the other artists to be edited. That was kinda like a decision made on the business end that.. that I don’t want to get all into that. I took the blame for a lot of stuff that happened last time. This time around this is fully me. This is me; the single that I want. I’m at the plate and I gotta hit a home run. I know it. So I’m tellin’ my fans they better get up and support this ’cause I’m givin’ them the music that they want. And if it doesn’t work out man, I can’t say that I’ma keep on battin’ at it.. because, you know, this stuff is crazy right now, you know what I mean’?

GWHH: Definitely, wow. Well, I got a couple more general questions for ya. For one, I know Chicago rapper Lupe Fiasco shows a lot of love toward Houston artists like yourself and being the #1 Chicago Hip Hop Blog, our readers would certainly be interested in hearing your thoughts on the Chicago hip hop scene, just like Lupe has with all you guys?

Chamillionaire: I don’t know man, Lupe man, I kinda scratch my head about him man. I saw him at an awards ceremony. I’m like, “Man, I’m a fan of your music.” When I told him that, “Man I’d love to do somethin’ with ya” and he’s like, “Yeah, we’ll exchange numbers later”. And I kinda thought that was weird ’cause I was lookin’ right at him and [thinkin’], “I’m standing right here in front of you, why can’t we exchange numbers now? “. He sat right behind me at the awards and then I turned around and looked and he was gone. So i was like, “Ok, that was kinda weird to not say nothin’”. Lupe does this song where he comes to Houston and all these people are in the video and he shouts out everybody.. he never really says my name. Wait a second.. maybe he just.. I don’t get it. And that’s not sayin’ that to diss him [Lupe Fiasco]. I like him. I’m a fan of his music. I think he’s a very smart and intelligent guy. I talked to other people, and I asked them, like they know Lupe so, “What’s up with Lupe?” A friend who was a driver, he was takin’ Kanye and Lupe and all them around too so i asked him. I’m tryin’ to get different opinions because I’m tryin’ to figure out… Maybe he’s just on his own page like that and he likes to be solo just like me. Because that’s how I am. I don’t care about what other people are doin’ sometimes I just stay on my own page. Maybe he’s just like that? I never was able to get my own grasp on that. But I do think that was a big thing to do that to Houston and show some love. When I actually heard that song on his album, I was pretty surprised. I was like, “Whoa! That was dope.” No artist really does that and he’s from Chicago and he’s showin’ love to all these Houston artists and why and all these reasons - that was really fresh to me. And for him to come to Houston and do that, I don’t know too many artists who do that. That was cool and I know people from Houston really embraced it. And he actually put the people in the video that I know. And they was lovin’ it and I tip my hat off to him for that. As far as Chicago hip hop is concerned, I was out there for a minute. Stayin’ out there before the Swishahouse thing completely blew up, I was workin’ with Frank Thomas, the baseball player, a record label called Undeniable Entertainment, and I was workin’ with him, a guy named Dro and a guy, Hurt-M-Badd, who produced “Hail Mary” by 2Pac. I was out there a good 3, 4 months. We was workin’, tryin’ to get in the studio w/ Crucial Conflict and Psycho Drama and a lotta people from Chicago. And at that time, I wasn’t as big as I am now, I had a feelin’ I was gonna make it and I kept tellin’ them, “Man, I gotta get back to Texas ’cause I got this lil’ buzz happenin’ right now.” At that time, they didn’t really know and they were tryin’ to get deals with like people and for me, but I just bounced and went back to Texas. People don’t know that about me. It was super windy like all the time it was real cold. You couldn’t turn your hat one direction ’cause of the gangs, you couldn’t turn it to the right. There was a lot of stuff that I was learnin’. I was like, “Wow man, Chicago’s crazy!” I was at the clubs and they was playin’ house music real fast. I was really young at that time and then I came back [to Texas] and my underground career just started takin’ off. I think everything happens for a reason. I learned a lot while I was out there and I learned a lot of Chicago artists and stuff too.

GWHH: Yeah, and with Chicago hip hop - that’s the central focus of our blog. We post a lot of various hip hop and R&B, trying to attract a wide, mainstream audience to pay more attention to our focus of Chicago hip hop. But yeah, and with the Lupe story, I’m not intending to twist that into..

Chamillionaire: Aw naw man. Do whatever you want. I know Lupe’s a smart guy, he knows I”m not beefin’ with him or anything. I just had to put that out there for real. Nobody has ever asked me that before. If anybody has asked me about Lupe, I woulda answered like that. I’m a fan of him. I’m a fan of him. I am a Lupe fan, even before and after this interview. I like his music. And i actually hear his frustration with not wanting to be in hip hop anymore because I be feelin’ the same way a lotta times.

GWHH: Yeah, alright. Cool. Well lastly, I wanted to let ya go on this question. With the current events of this month, obviously the biggest news is the election of Barack Obama as the next President of the United States. I wanted to hear your thoughts about what that means to you and what you think it will mean to the country?

Chamillionaire: To me, man everything. Some people were hittin’ me and they were kinda upset ’cause they were supporters of McCain, “You’re goin a lil’ too hard for Barack”, tryin’ to get me to switch over. I was just like man, I think that they should be happy that I’m excited about something like that that inspires me to get up and do the impossible. You start to get stagnant where we’ve seen so much, you look for some kind of inspiration. That’s why you see so many artists just kinda just goin to left field, tryin’ somethin’ else, lookin’ for inspiration ’cause they’re bored of what’s the norm. And that’s kinda how I feel. And when I see fans comin’ up to me screamin’ and stuff. I can’t even think of who excites me like that. I don’t even understand gettin’ an autograph. You get an autograph then what does everyone do with an autograph? 3 years from now, it’s on this balled up piece of paper. Do you really get money for it? Or is it somethin’ that you show people that you met the person. The only 2 people who I would say that would be like that [for me] is Michael Jackson and Michael Jordan. I actually met Michael Jordan. Honestly, I actually don’t even ask people for pictures ’cause I’m and artist myself and I asked him. And I really regret askin’ him for it. He was super rude to me. He was the rudest person I’ve ever met and that was disappointing to me. I used to draw pictures and used to pause the picture of him in the air and draw it. Watchin’ the games and record him, and pause them and eveyrthing. So when I met him and he was so rude, I was like, “Wow, I never be like that to be somebody. I sign almost like 99 percent of everything that everyone ever ever asks me for but I’m never rude to people who ever asks me, no matter how bad of a mood I’m in. Gettin’ off the topic, like Barack, now I look at him like that. Finally, it’s somethin’ that ignites me and makes me happy. I’m buyin’ all my cars in black. Everything in black is just the best thing to me right now man. [chuckles] It’s just a beatufiul thing, man. For America, I just think it’s good man. It’s somethin that was long overdue and a lot of people didn’t think this was gonna happen. And now people get to see this.. There’s older people that were here during the civil rights and for them to actually see this.. for them to see this before they pass, it’s a wonderful payback. And I think it happened for the right reasons because It wasn’t just black people that voted him into the office or elected him as the future president, it was white people too. That right there is just a big statement as to where we’re at right now. Honestly, when I watched his [Barack Obama] speech, I was standin’ up the whole time watchin’ it. I felt it was one of my proudest moments. I felt better when I was watchin’ that then when I did when I won my Grammy! I needed that, you know?

GWHH: Wow. Yeah, that’s crazy, especially with all the traditionally Republican states voting him in as well. It’s crazy. Yeah, that’s great to hear your thoughts as well because it’s a big topic in the hip hop community. So yeah, also if you want to talk about the interactive features of Chamillionaire.com. …

Chamillionaire: Yeah, definitely. People don’t know that I’m pretty active when it comes to social networking and stuff. I haven’t completely launched the full version. In my opinion, I think it’s gonna be the mother for all artists’ websites when it comes to functionality and the way it works. I see people gettin’ on me with these name sites, creating a copy of fan sites like a ThisIs50. They just doin’ it ’cause that’s what people do when that when they see something successful. They just copy. They just don’t really understand the social networking as much. You talk to some rappers about a widget, they don’t even know what a widget is. A perfect example, like it has.. like.. I don’t wanna give away too much right now, but everything is top of the line. It has HD on there, video, it’s super crazy. Fans along with this whole process of the album, Venom, they’re going to be fully included, active, and ignited along with this whole process of the album [shown] through this website. I haven’t launched the whole thing yet, but it’s goin’ to go up. People are sayin’, “What’s takin him so long?” I’m a perfectionist, when I do it, I like to do it big! Freestyles, free downloads, when people get on there, they’re goin to be like, “Damn this is sick!” I’m pretty confident at that. Pretty confident at that.

Ne-Yo “Over My Head (Accidently)”

Producer: StarGate - FULL, CDQ *Tibs Fav.™

ANOTHER NEW Ne-Yo track; this one is produced by StarGate and stands out above the rest that have been released in the past few days. I loove the StarGate beat that is more electronica that what we’re used 2 compared 2 previous songs of both StarGate and Ne-Yo. Lyrics wise, Ne-Yo tells a story that not many can relate 2, yet it is easy 2 follow and makes for a great R&B track that all R&B fans must DL! Down below, more R&B featuring the likes of Johnta Austin, Bobby Valentino, & The Dream! Peep some random vids as well and enjoy!

GemStones “Free Chilly” [Trailer]

Startin’ off this hip hop update with a lil’ message from GemStones that summarizes the change that has enveloped the artist in the past couple years. I definitely admire his admission to his past and his willingness to move forward and spread positive messages. He says ‘09 is his year so I’d expect some major mixtapes and Troubles Of The World very soon! Down below, some solid hip hop featuring Lil’ Wayne, Twista’s sick verse on the lil’ Swagga Like Us remake, and from Chicago’s Mikkey Halsted & GLC! Definitely some MUST-see videos including the latest episode of ConsTV and the “Crash Dummie” video premiere, that could be unofficial, yet is a great look for up and coming FNFers He Say, She Say! (Shouts 2 Sean). Enjoy!

GLC “Big Screen” f/ Kanye West

FULL, CDQ *Tibs Fav.™

This Chi-Town banger above is a hot collaboration between G.O.O.D. Music’s GLC and the star of the label, Kanye West! It’s got some electronic goin for it in the beat and a dope sample as well. GLC and Kanye rap w/ clarity (sans autotune) and overall, you can’t ask for much more. Nice lyrics that all evoke a message throughout the song that is pretty obvious when you hear it on first listen. Def a MUST-DL (thx 2 DJ L-Gee)! Down below, some more hip hop and R&B featuring a nice J Dilla production, Joe, Bobby Valentino, as well as videos featuring Q-Tip, Robin Thicke, Nas, Ludacris, & Chamillionaire! Enjoy!
