Here’s a clip of a speech by Lupe Fiasco stressing how hip hop belongs and people will be entertained by hip hop as much as rock or whatever other genre. It’s a nice lil’ clip with the crowd going nuts. Head over 2 lupEND for downloads of the speech and performance and peep the small blurb on BET about his performance that is the biggest news of Lu’s performance in the U.K. last night…
“During his set at the Glastonbury Festival in the U.K. last night, rapper Lupe Fiasco spoke out about “tyrannical world leaders”, clumping Zimbabwe’s longtime dictator and the American president in the same category “F*@K Robert Mugabe, F*@K George Bush,” he said. F*@k politics, democrats, socialists, the Labor party. Music’s what it’s all about.” It’s likely there won’t be any blowback from his American fans for his comment considering the current political climate. But remember just a few years ago the Country music group, Dixie Chicks, were bashed for much milder comments they made about the President in the U.K. Fiasco drew an excited crowd to his performance which included his hits “The Cool,” “Food and Liquor,” “Hip Hop Saved My Life” and ‘Kick Push.’”
Wow, some strong words then from Lupe Fiasco and more power 2 him. He’s truly a strong and passionate artist as u can tell above and in his music. Down below, check out a few NEW trax, with my favorite of the bunch being the NEW version of “Diamond Girl” including a better, less repetitive beat than the original. Definitely a MUST-HAVE for the R&B fans! Peep the rest of the trax below and the Day26 video premiere! Enjoy!
Another HUGE update for ya (sry, going 2 be inconsistent w/ timely updates the next few days…) with the feature track being the HOT, Swizz Beatz-produced?, RMX of Alicia Keys’ latest single “Teenage Love Affair” featuring LL Cool J! LL’s male perspective definitely adds 2 this song that was lyrically brilliant in the first place. Another big RMX below is from Usher for his latest single “Moving Mountains” featuring Hood Fella. Not sure if that’s official, but Hood Fella adds 2 the original beat pretty well also. More songs 2 add 2 ur collection include the latest GemStones track “Never Give Up”, which features the new and improved GemStones - meaningful, conscious lyrics and a beautiful, passionate chorus that brings the cliche some depth. The mixtape should be hitting the web within the next couple days as it’s finally done (unfortunately we couldn’t hit up the mixtape release party last nite). It’s just a matter of time and once it pops up in our e-mail or around the other blogs, u’ll see it on GWHH. Be sure 2 scroll below for the boatload of new hip hop and R&B trax, requests, and videos as the Keyshia Cole Letterman performance is especially worth ur time! Enjoy! (Big ups 2 FSD & NMC)
BIG update featuring an unreleased track from the Chicago/Detroit hip hop duo - The Cool Kids! Ya’ll should kno them already anyway and they’re back with another nice track. The lyrics aren’t the deepest but its a cool track for the sneakerheads out there and set 2 another dope, unique beat that defines the sound of The Cool Kids! Also above is a bonus interview with Karmaloop TV! Down below, we got the latest from Bullet himself with the song “Get It” produced by Chuck Inglish of The Cool Kids. So if you like the beats of The Cool Kids, you’ll definitely wanna DL Bullet’s track for more of the same!
Further down, check out a nice, uptempo R&B track produced by one of my favorite up and coming producers - J. Lack (Usher’s brother) by Ryon Lovett & Ne-Yo! You can also find the latest from the mainstream with NEW trax from T-Pain, Lloyd, and VIDEO PREMIERES from Nelly & Ray Lavender, AND finally a LIVE performance of The Game’s latest hit, “Pain” f/ Keyshia Cole! Enjoy!
Here’s some mainstream trax for the mainstream fans, leading off with an uptempo R&B banger from Frankie J! I’m likin’ the overall feel 2 the song with a hot beat and solid lyrics, and while it’s not an instant classic by any means, I can see myself flippin’ this on in the coming weeks. Below, is the trifecta collaboration btwn Plies, Keyshia Cole, & J. Holiday… not huge on Plies or J. Holiday, but Keyshia Cole’s part in the song makes it a MUST-DL! And below that, DL trax from rapper Cassidy & R&B/pop star Ciara that u mite like as well! Enjoy!
Comin’ thru real late 2nite and luckily it wasn’t an urgent day in NEW music but there are still some cuts from some of ur favs. in R&B and hip hop. The 2 trax from the batch I liked is a hot, uptempo track from R&B singer Mario and the “Where The Cash At RMX” by Swizzy & Foxy B. Warrants mentioning tho that the original is better.. not really feelin’ Foxy’s verse but the beat and Swizzy are on point. Check out The Game & Keyshia vid premiere below as well. Enjoy!
Above, straight from kanYe’s blog, are some nice new pics of the “Homecoming” artwork and the Air Yeezys! Both are pretty tight, altho I think that white space could be an animated CHI-Town skyline and that I’m an adidas fan, haha. Still sweet tho, don’t get me wrong. Below is a new track from The Game & Keyshia Cole and a video premiere from Mary J. Blige that I meant 2 post in the last one, but was in a rush and simply forgot. Peep those 2 below and enjoy!
ALL videos 2day (for now) as u should enjoy a couple video premieres - I’m really feelin’ “Diamond Girl” - and a couple of sweet videos that my friends passed along 2 me last night… some of you may have heard of piano extraordinaire David Sides on YouTube before - well, here he is with a new rendition of Usher’s mega-hit “Love In This Club”! And the folks in the UK may know V Double O as he is proclaimed as the fastest rapper in the UK. This is the first I’ve seen of him and he was absolutely sick in the video above. Click on the actual video if u want 2 see the lyrics. It’s fun 2 follow with those. Enjoy!
Also check out Max G.’s post, spotlighting the Five One Band below! Take the time 2 preview the trax and you’ll prolly like the unique sound you hear from the DC underground group! Support them up by droppin’ 5 dollars on their album!
FULL, CDQ, 1st Official Single off upcoming album, Rising Down*Tibs Fav.
Above is the OFFICIAL 1st single off Rising Down called “Rising Up” featuring up and comer Wale & the wonderfully talented Chrisette Michele! I love a lot about this track - nice beat, great vocals from Chrisette and of course some sweet verses from Black Thought and Wale! Def DL this above, it’s good hip hop! We also got some NEW trax featuring heavyweights Jay-Z, Snoop Dogg, & R. Kelly below. Also be sure 2 check out the latest from Minneapolis duo Atmosphere (really feelin’ that slow, laid back track) and a couple Keyshia Cole videos! Enjoy!
Here are a couple hot new tracks. First, I got the “Do It Well RMX f/ Ludacris” by Jennifer Lopez that will be on her upcoming album Brave. I can see this catchy tune blowin’ up huge on the radio, especially with Luda even rapping in Spanish over the poppy beat. I also got the latest single off of Keyshia Cole’s upcoming album Just Like You entitled “Shoulda Let You Go”. A typical Keyshia song where the lyrics describe her distain for her significant other set to a mid-tempo beat by Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins (”Déjà vu f/ Jay-Z” - Beyoncé, “Turn The Page” - Bobby Valentino, “Can’t Leave ‘Em Alone f/ 50 Cent” - Ciara, “Enough Cryin’ f/ Brook” - Mary J. Blige). So DL some of the best in female Pop/R&B below & enjoy!
