So this is the 3rd time that “It’s Over” has taken the top spot in a post in the past couple of weeks. (and that’s GLC in the background of that pic, much love!) Anyway, the 3rd version above is finally the CDQ version, and it takes on some substantial differences than the previous ones. For one, the quality is obviously at it’s highest and JL has a lil’ extended intro, Kanye has even more rhymes toward the end of his verse, and if I’m not mistaken, JL ad-libs a lil’ more throughout and especially in the outro. It is worth gettin’ rid of your previous versions of “It’s Over” and DL this one, especially cuz it’s just a real nice jam that keeps growing on me. Down below, more NEW trax & vids featuring Mos Def, Robin Thicke, some LQ videos of T.I.’s album release party (w/ Lupe Fiasco & Jay-Z) and much MORE! Don’t forget to vote for Consequence in the Online Hip Hop Awards @ http://www.onlinehiphopawards.com! I think you can also nominate us for some of the ‘Web’ categories, and I’ll look into that more soon. Game 1: Cubs vs. Dodgers coming up in less than 3 hours! Enjoy!

Some more brand NEW JL for ya ears, this time featuring his good pal and labelmate, Estelle! As expected, it is a nice R&B slow jam, but has an unexpected reggae feel 2 it. I like the track, but not sure I’m going 2 fall in love w/ it as it certainly is no “You Are” (John Legend’s feature on Estelle’s most recent album, Shine). It is definitely a track ya’ll should DL and maybe it will grow on u as it likely will on me. Down below, Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama recently spoke 2 MTV about hip hop! I included a video from the MTV news story (also linked below) along with some interesting quotes from the story. Can you imagine a president hyping himself for big meetings w/ the other world’s leaders to Kanye’s “Stronger”? Haha, well, with Barack, that’s entirely possible and somethin’ that makes me wanna vote for him (…haha, c’mon, I’m kidding. I’m voting for Obama for much more important reasons..) Anyway, enjoy!
51 minutes later.. I’m just throwin’ up the video premiere for Alicia Keys & Jack White’s “Another Way To Die” down below!
“I enjoy it, but these days I don’t have the time to listen to it all the time,” he told MTV News. He said that he still finds time to shuffle through MCs like Jay-Z and Kanye on his iPod, but he thinks the genre’s impact extends far beyond a few hot tracks.
“I’m a little older than hip-hop culture,” he said. “I was there at the beginning, but I was already getting older. … What I’ve appreciated, watching this hip-hop generation, is to see how entrepreneurial they’ve been. In the past, musicians oftentimes were commodities. They were just shuffled around. Obviously, they did well, but they didn’t have the vision to say, ‘I’m going to build a business. I’m going to build my own studio. I’m going to create my own production operations.’ I think they’re a lot more sophisticated than in the past, and that is a wonderful thing.” - MTV.com

Classic John Legend slow jam, love song… automatic *Tibs Fav.™. This is honestly a sweet song with a great message of JL soothing his lady with your typical everyday greeting. I’m actually not that high on the beat/melody on 1st listen, but the lyrics and JL’s soothing, soulful voice (as expected) are enough 2 make this a high quality R&B song. And if your wondering why this may sound familiar, a small snippet of this track was played at the end of the “Green Light” video. Definitely a track most music fans will love. Enjoy!

Big update for ya Saturdays here, starting with 2 powerful, inspiring tracks on the album inspired by perhaps the most powerful and inspiring person in the U.S.A. today - Democratic candidate, Barack Obama! Starting it off with an original track created for the Obama album above, Malik Yusef goes spoken word and delievers nothing less than an inspiring message. Adam Levine comes through on the hook and Kanye West raps (sans autotune) with the same amount of passion as Obama has for changing our country. It is a great song with a booming beat, especially at the finale of the song. Also above is John Legend’s contribution to the album with a magnificent cover of the U2 smash-hit “Pride (In The Name Of Love)”, which certainly fits the theme of the album as well.
Down below, a bunch of very solid tracks with Mark Ronson putting a nice spin on Robin Thicke’s “Magic”, along with Wale spittin’ some clever lines as well. R&B singer Joe’s album comes out on Tuesday and another track from the CD can be had as well. Def lookin’ forward to that album. I’m also feelin’ that Murs track as it contains clear and inspiring lyrics as well - from the album, Murs For President, in stores September 30th! In the midst of the videos below, you will find the official video premiere to Ne-Yo’s “She Got Her Own (Miss Indepenent Pt. 2)” f/ Jamie Foxx & Fabolous. I’m kind of surprised he didn’t include that track on the album for Year Of The Gentleman, but my guess is they recently recorded it with not enough time for the track to make the final tracklisting. Regardless, the star power above carries the nice slow jam sequel to “Miss Independent” and the nice black & white video does the song justice. Enjoy!
Sorry for the long time between updates.. between all the work, being sick, and social events I was busy with yesterday, I was flat out exhausted to do anything until now. But it’ll all be made up next week because I also used that time to conduct a very interesting interview with a professional athlete that will be hitting GWHH sometime next week! Stay tuned!

First off, daaamn, how old is that pic? JL’s still got the fro in that one, haha! Secondly, the HQ really makes me fall in love w/ this track. JL is sooo catchy on the hook and Kanye sooo clever in his verse, all over an addicting beat that I’m speculating was a Neptunes production.. Def a great song for the fellas breakin’ up w/ their girl, as the title insinuates. Anyway, these are 2 of my absolute favs, so you kno I’ma dig this track from the 2 of the 3 heavyweights of G.O.O.D. Music (I see u Common, and everyone will see u ‘Quence!) Luckily there’s a ton of nice releases comin’ our way before October 28th when Evolver comes out, so I’ll be pleasantly distracted until then. Down below, not thaaat much to distract me from “It’s Over” OR Year Of The Gentleman (I’ma try 2 get up a review soon), but Wale spits some nice rhymes and Jennifer Hudson is, well, Jennifer Hudson, so u’d expect a nice slow jam from her. A bunch of videos 2 peep as well f/ R. Kelly, Nas, ?uestlove, and Diddy bein’ ridiculous, haha. Enjoy!
FULL, Radio Rip, Track off upcoming album, Evolver *Tibs Fav.™
Had 2 MediaFire the track above cuz zShare had probs w/ just that file and not the ones below, but anyway, NEW JL & Kanye! It’s HQ, but not CDQ b/c the track was premiered on that radio show. I like it though. Kanye’s on the autotune once again, but it’s not annoying. JL is pretty nice on the chorus 2 the midtempo track. I’m expecting the CDQ version soon. Check out the rest of the forgettable trax below, haha. Enjoy!
Producer: Kanye West - 2003 Track off the album, Neighborhood Watch *Tibs Fav.™
“I’ma Chicagoan ’til Chicago ends,
’til we blow like Chicago wind
I don’t know what’s better, gettin laid or gettin paid,
I just know when I’m gettin one, the other’s gettin away,
This way!”
- Kanye West
There’s a good chance u have this song already, as it was 5 years ago that this was blowin’ up Chicago radio, but I was really inspired to post one of my favorite trax from the ‘03 era in the past few days. I’ll spare the story (it’s really not that exciting) but this track strikes a deep chord inside me for various reasons:
1. One of my favorite, ALL-TIME Kanye West verses in any song, period. His swag back in ‘03 is as high as it was in ‘08 and the appealing, signature slurring makes for an ear-pleasing experience throughout the verse. Lyrically, Kanye is clever, witty, funny, and brutally honest as evident by his Chi-Town shout-out lyric above. Definitely one of my favorite verses I just love rhyming, no matter who’s around.
2. John Legend, who is not credited on the track technically, enhances the chorus on the bridge/outro so beautifully. The beat changes and Legend’s background vocals really give the song a powerful ending. This track not only helped launch the star of Kanye West, but also put then-virtual unknown, John Legend on the map! Listening to this track again in 2008, you can already tell some differences in each artist, which speaks to the growth of two of the faces of G.O.O.D. Music.
3. The message. I can’t even relate to any of the specific subject matter discussed in the three verses, but the chorus provides a general, inspiring message to everyone. Whenever I’m in that mood where I feel like I can do better in my life, that addicting chorus is a very uplifting reminder that I can improve, that I can be a better person to my family, friends, school, work, myself, anything. And isn’t that a positive message in a song that should be valued?
So if you don’t have this track, I urge you to DL it immediately! You see the reasons above, but I’ll end on this… If I had to make a 20-track CD of my favorite songs EVER, “This Way” would make the cut. Enjoy!

John Legend Interview & Rehearsal Of “If You’re Out There”
NEW john Legend “If You’re Out There” is a MUST-DL for any fan of music and even any follower of the political campaigns for this year’s election. JL showcases that one of a kind powerful, soulful voice, while also sending a ringing message to 2day’s generation. The description from his Barack Obama page concisely sums up the goal of the track perfectly,
“A call-to-action and evocation of human potential, “If You’re Out There” reflects the themes of hope and change, responsibility and leadership, and commitment to a better tomorrow expressed in the principles of Barack Obama and the hearts of the American people.”
John Legend performed the song for the first time @ last nite’s opening for the Democratic National Convention in Denver and in addition 2 DLing the track above, peep the interview and rehearsal of John Legend as he talks in detail about the track - a very interesting 2 and a half minute watch. I’ve had “If You’re Out There” on repeat all morning and u should 2; DL above!!!
As for the rest of the update, some more solid R&B comin’ thru from up and comers Rob (Of One Chance) & LaShawn Daniels, as well as established star, Mario chimin’ in w/ a sweet snippet that is worth ur trouble. And we also got some hip hop for ya ears w/ a sweet J. Dilla produced track and a bunch of NY hip hop w/ the LL Cool J / 50 Cent collabo and the latest from Lloyd Banks. And I can’t forget another track by Young Buck and a video of Dead Prez @ Denver’s Capitol Hill! All worth checkin’ out so DL above & below and enjoy!
“Green Light” is another single that I’m really feelin’ @ the moment and above is the video premiere of the John Legend / Andre 3000 collabo! It’s a fun video that matches the fun song (complete with an intro and outro and an Estelle cameo) and it gets a lil colorful and crazy when 3000’s verse begins, quite appropriately I mite add. Def worth watchin’ all the way thru b/c the outro features a lil’ snippet of a JL song I haven’t heard of (presumably another song off the upcoming album, Evolver, which is due in stores October 28th!) as well as a very comedic ending featuring Legend & 3000! After u peek @ that, check out some trax below, including 2 NEW Akon features w/ my girl Keri Hilson & The Game! A New York DJ by the name of Rob Low sent us over his Throwback RMX of Jay-Z’s “Jockin’ Jay-Z” and I love what he did w/ that beat (still iffy on Jay tho in general) so I’m pretty sure all u Hov fans will enjoy that unofficial RMX! There’s also the latest from Young Jeezy, Fabolous, Saigon, & Chi-Town’s Mikkey Halsted & GLC! Enjoy!
(zShare is down @ the moment of this post.. so the links below are Mediafire. We’ll see how temporary zShare is unavailable so just hang tight for the moment..)
Above is a brand NEW track from Chip himself, presumably on his upcoming Can’t Stop Me mixtape, and it’s a fresh one featuring Kid Cudi! The verses are all on point over a beat that both rappers excel on and is also my type of beat. Chip shows his versatility as he spits over a more laid-back beat compared 2 the hard bangers I am personally more accustomed 2 and it works for the better. Not 2 mention his overall flow is better than I’ve heard in previous trax, which goes with a catchy chorus that I can see myself singing along 2. I’m excited 2 see how the rest of the mixtape develops now, which should be coming soon according 2 his MySpace. Enjoy the exclusive above as well as the myriad trax below… starting with Jay-Z jumping on “Put On”, as well as Jeezy spittin’ some NEW verses. Gotta had it 2 Jay-Z (who I was never a big fan of) but he killed it here. Hmm, more hits than misses in the trax below.. I’m really diggin’ the Rhymefest track, but mainly because of Chamillionaire’s beastly verse and incredibly clever Lauren London reference which made me chuckle on 1st listen. Another nice reference occurs in the Busta Rhymes / Jadakiss collabo as a Shaq in Miami and Phoenix NBA reference caught my attention (as does any NBA reference, haha!) Just a bunch of hip hop and some R&B trax below! I’m sure u’ll find somethin’ u like so comment on what u do (and don’t!). Enjoy!
Here’s a couple of cover arts I stumbled upon recently for upcoming singles that I have really been lovin’ - “Green Light” & “Miss Independent”! Update ur iTunes artwork if u like and DL the songs if u don’t have them already below!
