FINALLY back.. and with a TON of goodies for ya eyes and ears, starting with NEW Kanye West from 808’s & Heartbreak! “Coldest Winter” was released earlier, but this is the HQ (supposedly CDQ) version of the track that is also supposedly dedicated 2 his late mother. I can def see that and I think parts of it can def be applied 2 a relationship also. I’m really diggin’ “Coldest Winter” a lot; the beat is ridiculous and inspired by some 80s music and Kanye passionately sings some beautiful lyrics. I’m still on the fence about the album’s direction, but it appeals 2 me because I love the topics he’s covering and I don’t mind the autotune that much and feel that Kanye uses it real well 2 the point that it’s not really annoying. We’ll see about the entire album, however. I’ll reserve judgment on “Robocop” because it does sound like a LQ version, but I can say that it didn’t strike me like “Heartless” and “Coldest Winter” did at first. Both of the latter trax really stand out 2 me and will be on repeat for months 2 come (just like LA’s “The Journey” produced by Mr. Music that u should definitely grab if u haven’t already!). As for the rest of the update, NEW trax from John Legend, Ludacris featuring co-stars like Lil’ Wayne, Common, and even Spike Lee, a couple real nice Q-Tip trax, and some other solid efforts from hip hop and R&B artists that u can peep below. Also be sure 2 check out the latest video premieres featuring Estelle, Bobby Valentino, and Keri Hilson among others. Enjoy!

Here comes a brand NEW, original track from Trey Songz - a sure-fire R&B hit with a captivating beat from Kendrick “WyldCard” Dean (B. Cox’s protegé, I believe)! The lyrics illustrate a nice story, not about a relationship, rather about real-life issues with lines like, “For every father that walks out / there’s a daddy that loves his child” and “Fine young man / off to war / don’t understand what he fighting for / yet he reports / obeys his call of duty and fights for his countraayyy”. Damn, this is a song I’ve had on repeat ever since I DLed it and like Usher’s “Hush” (also added the artwork @ the very bottom) from earlier in the week, it is a meaningful R&B song that not only R&B fans will certainly enjoy, but also the casual listener. MUST-DL above! Down below, a batch of loose ends are tied up with solid trax featuring Saigon, Casely, Jagged Edge, Leona Lewis, & MORE as well as a couple videos featuring Kanye West & Craig David! So Chi-Town’s own, Verbal Kent, reached out to us with this timely exclusive - a hip hop version of the classic Chicago Cubs theme song “Go Cubs Go” that rings through Wrigley Field after every W (and let’s hope that will continue in October!). As a ridiculously huge Cubs fan, I’ll be glued to the TV or maybe at Wrigley for the playoffs this year and the city is straight up buzzing as this is the best chance in recent history that the Cubs will break their 100 year World Series drought (Oh, and I suppose the South Siders may be chatting a lil’ bit as well as they sneaked into the playoffs themselves less than an hour ago.. hmmph..) As for Verbal Kent, he is not just a no-namer from Chicago, as evidenced by his recent ink in the hip hop magazine, XXL, and you can peep his MySpace HERE! Much props 2 VK for the creative rhymes centered around the starters and pitching staff as well as the bench players, announcers, and more! Of course, Go Cubs Go!

Hip hop fans will see a couple Paper Trail bonus trax that are definitely good enough 2 be on the album (and I got the album 2day… it’s ridiculous.. expect a review soon!). I’m havin’ trouble playin’ videos myself right now, but I figured the top spot is nothing new 2 T.I. b/c he just scored the biggest leap in Billboard Hot 100 history with his 1st single, “Whatever You Like” jumping from #71 to #1! Congrats to T.I. & I’m real happy 2 see him up on top with a song that has really grown on me. Jyea! A few standout trax from the bunch above and below, starting with Ludacris’ latest single (thx 2 Steve-O for the send) that will surely be hitting the radio in due time. It features Chris Brown & Sean Garrett and supposedly is produced by Swizz Beatz. The song is pretty solid on 1st listen and is exactly the type of song that will grow on me over time. The song is aimed squarely at the pop crowd, especially with a unique beat that is also likely 2 annoy some as well. I’m indifferent on the beat, like many of the vocals by Luda & CB, so we’ll see how this track lasts over time. Down below, Trey Songz kills the first verse of the “Girls Around The World RMX” and T.I. & Fabolous kill the “Hi Hater RMX”! Some NEW DMX for ya ears and this is a solid track where Dark Man X raps from his heart in response 2 all the trouble he’s been gettin’ into recently, w/ all his arrests. I respect his approach as much as I like the track itself, in that he is attacking his problems head on and I am really optimistic and hopeful that he comes as strong as ever on his upcoming hip hop CD, Walk With Me Now, and his upcoming gospel CD, Fly With Me Later. From what I can gather, they’ll be split into individual albums now. Below, enjoy some Casely, Jagged Edge over The Dream’s hit “I Luv Your Girl”, and a RMX of one of the hottest songs in the country right now, “I Kissed A Girl” f/ the rapper Mims. All trax u may like more than I do, haha. Enjoy!
