“Happy flowers for the lady keeps the monster away”
Yeahh… so this one is brand spankin’ new and one of my favs from the boy James Grady! I love the metaphor and the violent Mickey. Pretty G. Also some G tracks below. SaWeet!
Also in other news GWHH Designer Max G. designs the invites/etc. for Perez Hilton’s One Night In Toronto. The event which is thrown by Perez Hilton, sponsored by Calvin Klein, and presented by BMF Media will be off the chain including special guests Simple Plan! This after party to the Much Music awards is sure to be crawling with many hot celebs, but unfortunately is invite only!
Crazy update for ya’ll, leading off with Chrisette Michele’s latest video for “Love Is You”! Everything I hear from Chrisette has a great vibe to it and I enjoy her voice a lot as well. She’s definitely an artist on the rise (and I’m upset I missed her at the House of Blues last week in Chicago, haha.) so be on the lookout for more from Chrisette Michele (click her tag!). Down below is a flurry of freestyles, perhaps the most interesting being from NBA baller Ron Artest over Kanye West’s “Flashing Lights” (certainly more interesting than the one-thousandth “A Millie” Freestyle… altho CB puts a nice R&B flavor on it). Anyway, Artest succeeds in name-dropping some famous athletes and people in general, but also shows he has some skills on the mic. It exceeded my expectations since I’ve heard his previous work was pretty bad. Def an interesting DL for NBA and hip hop fans alike. Enjoy!
The much anticipated Carter 3 has leaked everywhere it seems; we all await the impact on the world from the hyped up album. The self proclaimed “Best Rapper Alive” wants to sell 5 million copies, but in today’s blog driven society I feel it’s going to be difficult. I mean if you are the best then this album has to beat, nay be much better than, “Graduation”, “The Cool”, “Rising Down”, etc etc etc…… I will agree that the album is not garbage, but is it the BEST? Can you critique it in the same category as the albums I mentioned? You have too I guess….so I’d love to hear some people’s opinions on the album as most people probably already got it from some leak outlet. There will either be hate or love for the album, but what I’m interested in is an honest unbiased critique, because music is art, and we have to critique art.
The production on the album is real pro, which I expected from money bags Weezy; Kanye produced 25% of the album so I guess we know who Weezy thinks is the best producer! I wonder why Kanye wasn’t featured on the album….maybe Weezy was worried about being out shined; I mean Kanye did rip up the track when he spit on the Lollipop RMX. HMMM interesting…..I wonder if Kanye thought about that. The predominant theme of the album is how great Lil Wayne is (”3 Peat”, “Mr. Carter”, “Phone Home”, “Nothin On Me”, “Let The Beat Build)”, how he saved Hip Hop (”Dr. Carter”), how good he is with women (”Comfortable”, “Lollipop”, “Mrs. Officer”), and how rich he is (”A Milli”, “Got Money”, “La La”). Although these are all cool things to communicate, and even though Lil Wayne’s delivery is authentic and original and all that jazz……the envelope can still be pushed. In my personal opinion it has been pushed w/ the Graduation album, which raps about the truth in life vs. “I’m the best and I make the most money and get all women and that’s all that matters”; I guess in the latter Lil Wayne IS the BEST, and I can’t deny that, but there’s more out there and I’m not even hatin’. Tha Carter 3 does have a deep end though with “Tie My Hands”, “Shoot Me Down”, “Playin With Fire”, “Misunderstood” and the album just plain sounds ill and bumps super hard (if you like Weezy, which I do)!
I think in the end the album is a good one, and bumps hard, and is G, and Wayne didn’t let me down; I’ll play it when I want to be on some G shit. As far as being the best, none better, the end, period, game over; ……NO. It’s still up for grabs, and I’m still not convinced.
CHI TOWN STAND UP.
Here’s a few tracks that I like from the Tha Carter 3, even though I like em all (PRODUCTION IS CRAZY) except for “A Millie”, which is now annoying. BUT let me know what you all think of Tha Carter 3, either when it comes out June 10 or if you already got it now.
Excuse my french emotion and my passion, but i wipe my heart on my sleeve like it’s the new fashion.
What are you asking? If i don’t have the answer, it’s probably on the web like I’m a damn Tarantula. But I know you don’t understand, cuz’ you thought Lil’ Wayne was Weezy, but Weezy is Wayne. “
FULL, CDQ, 1999 (NEW) Track from lost album, World Record Holders*Tibs Fav.
Above is the latest from Go Getters, exclusively dropped from FSD. Go Getters, if u recall from last week, is the group consisting of Kanye West, GLC, Really Doe, & Arrowstar - a Chi-Town clique when they were all fresh in the game around 1999 and 2000. It is interesting 2 hear these trax, especially Kanye pre-accident, who sounds noticeably different. It’s some raw Chicago Hip Hop above so be sure to DL it!
The third (and final?) version of the “Flashing Lights” video has also hit the web and u can view it below! Admittedly, it goes over my head a lil’ bit on first viewing, but Kanye brings it with a deep and artistic perspective that his fans should respect. It is important to note that this “Version 3″ is the last 2 leak and hit the web, but it was in fact the first video Kanye & Co. shot for the song. They scrapped it and filmed the 2nd version that leaked last week, scrapped that, and released the one with Rita G. back awhile ago.
Scroll a lil’ more for a large batch of NEW trax featuring some big names like Usher, Lil’ Wayne, & Mario, but the one below that I’m feelin’ above the rest is the song by Danny Fernandes - an uptempo new-age R&B track with a sick beat, similar 2 Fernandes’ earlier hit “Curious”. Enjoy!
Here’s a quick update for ur Sunday morning. The original R. Les/Cassie collabo of “Addiction” has been stuck in my head all week after hearing it again on DJ B-Bop’s Gotta Stay Fresh Mixtape and I love the RMX even better since I’m a hip hop and Fabolous fan first. LoSo’s (Fabolous, “in case you ain’t kno so”, haha!) versatility definitely adds a nice look 2 the RMX. I think that if the song is marketed well, it has the commercial appeal to become a big radio hit! Down below are a couple more NEW Beyoncé trax… the subject matter is hard for me 2 relate 2, but I have a good feeling the ladies will love it! DL above and below! Enjoy!
11:27 - Wow, I forgot 2 add Usher’s LIVE SNL Performances from last nite, so peep them below as well! Pretty sweet, esp Ush’s dance solo @ the end of “Love In This Club”!
FULL, CDQ, Rumored track off upcoming album, Seeing Sounds, in stores June 10th!*Tibs Fav.
Check out a nice batch of NEW music, with the feature track coming from Pharrell and his boys. The title says it all as “Spazz” offers that unique N.E.R.D. sound and the lyrics follow suit. I’m definitely feelin’ that track, rumored 2 be on the upcoming album, Seeing Sounds, which will hit stores this summer on June 10th! Also hitting stores this summer are 2 albums from R&B’s elite - Usher and Ne-Yo - and below you can DL the latest tracks from both! A sexually charged jam from Usher shows that he hasn’t lost his step vocally and Ne-Yo with a nice mellow R&B jam that we’re accustomed to from him. I also like Fab’s touch on the “I Luv Ur Girl RMX” and the NEW video from GWHH-fav. Guru! Hard to not find something u like here so enjoy!
UPDATE 1:03PM - Usher “This Ain’t Sex”, Nelly “Stepped On The Js” f/ Jermaine Dupri & Ciara Added! Wow, Ush is ridiculous… DL below!
Producer: Salaam Remi & Big Jack - FULL, CDQ, Rumored track off upcoming album, Nigger*Tibs Fav.
Above is the latest from Nas called “Be A Nigger Too” - yet another interesting take from the NY rapper. He has some lines in here that’ll make ya think and I like his backing of Eminem in this one as well. Below, are 2 snippets of him performing more NEW material at Syracuse University (big ups 2 GWHH fan and ‘Cuse student - “Okur”!) recently, as well as the latest from Fabolous (his verse is the last one and is sweet, shouting out 2 Ye & Lupe!) and also R&B singer Sterling Simms and finally a Madonna request. I also included the real version of “The Beat Goes On” (the one posted earlier in the week is apparently false) and this new version is a lot better and features 2/3 of CRS - Kanye West & Pharrell! Enjoy!
FULL, CDQ, Track off upcoming album, When Life Gives You Lemons, You Paint That Shit Gold*Tibs Fav.
The NEW album from Minneapolis hip hop group Atmosphere will be released this Tuesday (the 22nd) and above is a track from that album that I’m really likin called “In Her Music Box”! It concludes the album and Slug had this 2 say about the track,
“It’s about a little girl who learned how to use and abuse escapism through music. It finishes the story [of the album]. When we made this song, I knew the minute it was finished it would be the last song on the album.”
You can read full track by track comments like the one above for the whole album by Atmosphere HERE!
Below, we got the latest from CHI-Town’s own Yung Berg with Fabolous, Young Buck, Snoop, & The Outlawz, and a video premiere from Buckshot, 9th Wonder, Talib Kweli, & Tyler Woods! Enjoy!
FULL, CDQ, Rumored track off upcoming album, Year of the Gentleman*Tibs Fav.
Another feature track by R&B singer Ne-Yo! I’m feelin’ this one as well, altho I still can’t stop listening 2 “Closer” and this is not as goood, but still good, haha. I’m in a hurry, so not much else 2 say except 2 just peep the new trax above and below, as well as the NEW Roots video for “Birthday Girl” f/ porn star Sasha Grey, hahaha. Expect the unexpected from The Roots, haha. Oh yeah, u may recognize Akon’s vocals in “I’m So Fly” - that’s cuz they’ve been used in his song “So Fly” from the Longest Yard Soundtrack from ‘05. Maybe Fab’s and Joe’s vocals are recycled also, but I dont know them well enough 2 kno. Either way, sounds good, so DL! And keep it locked 2 GWHH the rest of the week cuz we should have a nice surprise by week’s end, hopefully sooner! Enjoy!
Another Kanye West listening experience video! He’s been releasing them every so often now and here’s another one to “Barry Bonds”! Below is a funny video of Lupe Fiasco & Chris Brown freestyling and some more of the day’s NEW music! Not 2 much time 2 chat, got some work 2 do, haha. Enjoy!
