Trey Songz is on a wave of jumpin’ on the hottest songs 2day and not only providing something fresh 2 them, but also killin’ ‘em. His rendition of “S.L.U. (Swagga Like Us)” is one that I’m really feelin’ as it brings out his high level of swag. Songz changes up the flow a lil’ bit, has some clever lines, and his delivery is just on point. I love his singing voice over hip hop beats like this. It’s not like he’s belting out a slow jam here, but he is singing and it makes for a version of “S.L.U. (Swagga Like Us)” that is different than the verses in the original. I’m lookin’ forward 2 another mixtape from Songz with a compilation of all these RMXs he’s doin’ and then his next album, READY, which is due to hit stores this year! Damn, I can’t wait for Paper Trail. The video for “What Up, What’s Happnin’” got me even more psyched about the song and in GREAT anticipation for the album. Shot in the ATL, T.I. shows his hometown love and a middle finger 2 Shawty Lo (the subject of his diss) and surely comes out on top. Who is Shawty Lo anyway? “No one on the corner have swagger like us.. swagger like us.. swagger swagger like us!” This extremely catchy sample will be ringing thru speakers the rest of the year. This is the type of song that defines 2008 for hip hop. Years down the line, when people say the phrase ‘Hip Hop in 2008′, “S.L.U. (Swagger Like Us)” is likely 2 be the first track mentioned. 4 living legends all on one track?! C’mon, unheard of. But T.I. brings in Kanye, Jay-Z, & Weezy for a sure-fire hit… and outshines them all! I’m really diggin’ T.I.’s verse as he articulately rips it, while reflecting on the changes in his life since the well-known charges against him at the same time keeping his high level of swag. Not 2 say the other 3 legends don’t bring it, b/c quite frankly, they all do. Kanye won’t put the autotuner down, but he doesn’t abuse it on this track and comes thru w/ a sick NBA reference, closing his verse with “..Tryna get that Kobe number, one over Jordan”. Weezy comes thru w/ an NBA reference of his own, cleverly name-dropping Carmelo Anthony. Overall tho, “S.L.U. (Swagger Like Us)” is one track that hit me on first listen and will be playin’ a lot for days and weeks 2 come. Check out T.I.’s reaction 2 the leaked track, which was not supposed 2 be released this soon. All these leaked trax can really hurt the album in the long run and that’s somethin’ I don’t wanna see for T.I., but right now Paper Trail is on some Food & Liquor shit w/ all the trax that are leaking… Btw, shouts 2 BOBO again for sendin’ some of the trax thru earlier 2day.. obviously light yrs behind if I’m out and workin’ all day.. :/
Keeping w/ the NEW T.I., I have always wanted a collabo of ATL’s T.I. & Usher; it seemed so realistic 2 me but Ush always sided w/ Luda in the studio. Well my wish has come true and while I feel that it is a sweet track, I also feel it didn’t live up 2 the hype that I put on it myself. T.I. again comes thru with nice verses on life as a celeb in the public’s eye but what disappoints me is that Usher doesn’t play 2 his strengths in the chorus. It’s a sweet chorus and one I’ll be singing along 2 for awhile, but I feel that he coulda sang it his usual way and been a lot better, like his lil’ verse. Finally, “Let My Beat Pound” is the hard banger that T.I. really needs on his album with collaborations already lined up w/ Usher, Justin Timberlake, Rihanna, and The Dream, who all scream ‘POP’! I like the hard beat and the sweet chorus and it’s yet another fire track from T.I.! Paper Trail is shaping up 2 be a classic in my eyes already and I hope the rest of the album delivers like the leaked trax have so far. There are some trax NOT by T.I. below, featuring hitmakers Chris Brown, T-Pain, & Akon as well as R&B singer Joe and don’t sleep on the Fabolous feature. I’m feelin’ Lo So and One Block Radius on that one. Estelle had a meet & greet 2day in the Gold Coast of downtown Chi and I rolled thru there right after work, reppin’ GWHH as u can see! She was very nice 2 her fans of all ages, posing for pictures, signing autographs, and interacting with everyone who came out 2 see her. It was a pleasure 2 meet one of the artists I’ve pushed heavily throughout the history of GWHH and I continue 2 hope that more of u open ur ears 2 a fresh and multi-talented artist outta the U.K.!

Thanks 2 S-Preme in our Jabbify, I was able 2 catch the world premiere of the long-anticipated “Everyone Nose RMX” on BET’s 106 & Park and thx 2 Connie over @ OnSmash w/ the send-thru, we have the video online and above @ GWHH! I was expecting big things from the video and it delivered. I love the crazy, fresh effects throughout and the video game / electronic type elements illustrated, w/ everyone lookin’ and actin’ all fly throughout the video. It definitely personifies the style of N*E*R*D and its equally fresh guest features - Kanye, Lupe, & Pusha T from Clipse. I’ve also been thinking about who delivers the best verse out of the 4 in this track for quite some time now, and I’ma throw it out there that if I had 2 choose one who really really killed it, it’s Pusha T. His flow is just ridiculous over the awesome beat and people shouldn’t sleep on him w/ CRS likely overshadowing him on this song 2 the casual fan. Any thoughts on this as well? Chat or comment away! (I should note tho that Kanye, and Lupe especially shine brighter lyrically..) It’s a MUST-WATCH video so please take the time 2 check it out above! Above is a brand NEW track from Chip himself, presumably on his upcoming Can’t Stop Me mixtape, and it’s a fresh one featuring Kid Cudi! The verses are all on point over a beat that both rappers excel on and is also my type of beat. Chip shows his versatility as he spits over a more laid-back beat compared 2 the hard bangers I am personally more accustomed 2 and it works for the better. Not 2 mention his overall flow is better than I’ve heard in previous trax, which goes with a catchy chorus that I can see myself singing along 2. I’m excited 2 see how the rest of the mixtape develops now, which should be coming soon according 2 his MySpace. Enjoy the exclusive above as well as the myriad trax below… starting with Jay-Z jumping on “Put On”, as well as Jeezy spittin’ some NEW verses. Gotta had it 2 Jay-Z (who I was never a big fan of) but he killed it here. Hmm, more hits than misses in the trax below.. I’m really diggin’ the Rhymefest track, but mainly because of Chamillionaire’s beastly verse and incredibly clever Lauren London reference which made me chuckle on 1st listen. Another nice reference occurs in the Busta Rhymes / Jadakiss collabo as a Shaq in Miami and Phoenix NBA reference caught my attention (as does any NBA reference, haha!) The other track, “Still Spittin’” goes over Mike Jones’ “Still Tippin’” and while Luda shines, I never could really stand that beat. I’m sure most of u guys will eat that track up tho.
