So we got an interesting track sent over 2 us 2day, that if others got it, they prolly skipped over, but I was initially attracted because Brandon Lloyd (B. Lloyd) is a WR I’ve followed since his days at the University of Illinois and now he plays for my hometown Bears. Turns out B. Lloyd is an aspiring rapper, and he showcases some nice flow on his 1st single w/ respected R&B singer, Bobby Valentino on the hook! I always find tracks by athletes very interesting, doubling as a big sports fan, and while most of them are below average, I think I might be bumpin’ this B. Lloyd / Bobby Valentino track well into the near future! Check out more info on B. Lloyd and the track below and check him out on MySpace HERE:
It is not often that a person has the opportunity to have, and fulfill, 2 separate and distinct career dreams but Brandon Lloyd aka B. Lloyd (if ya nasty) may just be one of them. Now a Wide Receiver for the Chicago Bears, Brandon Lloyd, who knew he wanted to be in the NFL since kindergarten, was a 4th round draft pick to the San Francisco 49ers back in 2003 and also played for the Washington Redskins before finding his home in Chicago. Living out a career as a pro athlete might have been enough for most but Brandon’s musical alter ego, who fell in love with Hip Hop after hearing Will Smith and DJ Jazzy Jeff’s Nightmare on My Street, also wanted to make music of his own.
A phone call to his agent by Still Hustlin’ Records owner and fellow artist and long-time friend, Renegade Foxxx gave B. Lloyd the label home, and the shot, he was looking for. With a first single that features the old school crooning of Bobby Valentino called “She All Mine” that is making all the right moves at radio (Corpus Christi, Lexington, Shreveport, Jackson, Baton Rouge, Gainsville, Tulsa, Biloxi, Augusta et al), it seems that Brandon has every chance of pulling off a career with his 2nd love. She All Mine is B. Lloyd’s musical reflection back on the dating escapades of he and his wife and he wrote it while the two were vacationing together.
“She All Mine is about a man who feels that his relationship with his lady is about more than the lovemaking.” he shares. “I knew Bobby Valentino’s voice would be a perfect fit for the song and he blessed me by being willing to grace the song of an up-and-coming artist. Not everyone is willing to do that.”
What drives this young man to not only pursue with equal fervor 2 very challenging career paths, but to offer himself up to the derision that often accompanies sports figures who try to break into music? The youngest of 7 children, Brandon Lloyd gives all of the credit for his incredible drive to his parents.
“I knew I wanted to be in the NFL when I was in kindergarten.” Brandon remembers. “I once got sent to the principle’s office for saying I wanted to be a professional football player in class when the teacher asked us all what we wanted to be when we grew up. The teacher said it was an ‘unrealistic goal.’ My Mom and Dad had always told me I could do anything I wanted. Just give it 100% and I can attain it.”
From where Brandon Lloyd is sitting right now, it looks like they might just be right.
There’s also some trax below 2 DL featuring a bunch of big names like Lil’ Wayne, Ne-Yo, Busta Rhymes, & much MORE! The theme of the trax below is that many of them have great beats, by big name producers nonetheless, yet for whatever reason, I’m not really into the track. It’s lacking that something special I suppose, but that doesn’t mean some of these won’t grow on me. Check ‘em out below and enjoy (Shouts 2 Urban Music for some of the exclusives!)

Here’s a quick update for ya before I just straight up crash (was traveling again all day, so apologies for the late update), but above is the latest collabo btwn superstars T-Pain & Kanye West! Autotuner galore here, but still makes for a solid track anytime Kanye is involved. Add in DJ Khaled shoutouts tho and for those who just hate on the autotuner altogether… ur goin 2 hate this track. Below, peep the fresh Estelle video premiere as well as the Ace Hood / Trey Songz video premiere! Larger update 2 come later in the day (Tuesday). Enjoy!
Here’s a quick update for ya Sunday, starting w/ a song I like by Taio Cruz “She’s Like A Star”! It’s the RMX w/ Busta Rhymes, who does a nice job adding something 2 the track. In a lil bit of a rush, so also be sure 2 check out the latest from Yung Berg, Akon, & videos featuring Q-Tip, Dead Prez, & The Game! Enjoy!
A bunch of HOT NEW trax for ur Sunday evening, starting w/ 2 nice ones from 2 of the 3 QUEENS of R&B 2day - Mary J. Blige & Beyoncé! (Alicia Keys being the 3rd IMO..) Mary J. covers Ciara’s “Supernatural” and displays a very powerful and beautiful voice while Mrs. Carter kills another uptempo beat that, who knows?, could be an upcoming single on her developing album. Down below, I’m feelin’ a lot more trax including parts of the “Girls Around The World (DJ Khaled RMX)” (T.I. of course), the 2 StarGate produced trax by R&B singers Mario & Dontae, & NYC rappers Fabolous and Lloyd Banks comin’ thru w/ some nice rhymes on their respective trax! Not sure if any of the trax from this update will have an enormous lasting appeal for me, but they’re all certainly enjoyable! Haha, so enjoy!
FULL, CDQ, 1st single off upcoming, untitled 3rd album *Tibs Fav.™
“It’s going to be a surprise for a lot of John Legend fans, because it is a lot more upbeat than John is — than people think John is. I was actually happy to hear it. This is a cool John Legend song.” - Andre 3000
NEW John Legend above as I’ve been waiting for the full version of “Green Light” f/ Andre 3000 2 drop for a long time now (thx 2 Legend in our CBox & Young Kingz)! This is the definition of a fun song - uptempo beat and fun lyrics, especially from Andre 3000. Definitely not what we’re accustomed 2 from JL, but he said so himself that this 1st single would be something different and ‘3000 supports that with his quote above. With Andre 3000 on board, I can see this hitting the mainstream and attracting more of an audience to John Legend. It is a great pick for a 1st single and I’d expect even better songs for the album, tentatively due in September! Judge for yourself and DL a track that is a MUST-HAVE for your collection! Below is a RMX of Alicia Keys’ latest hit, “Teenage Love Affair” f/ Al Be Back, who doesn’t add that much 2 the song, but it was a great one to begin with anyway. More NEW trax below featuring another heavy one by Nas (and DJ Khaled??? C’mon, everyone wants 2 see a Nas/Lupe collabo waaaay before Nas/DJ Khaled, haha!), LL Cool J, Casely, Danity Kane/Fabolous, & some requests featuring Estelle, The Game, & Busta Rhymes! Enjoy!
Above is the supposed official Part 2 video for Kanye West’s “Flashing Lights” f/ Dwele. It seems 2 me it is; after all, Kanye himself appears throughout. It is a well done video and was definitely the type of video I was expecting when it first came out. It tells a nice story of the young lady with “Flashing Lights” being the overbearing theme, so watch that above and judge for yourself! Below are some NEW trax from the past couple days… we’ve been busy with our Glow In The Dark festivities.. But yeah, not many thoughts on the NEW trax - nothin really that special honestly, haha. Altho there are some nice ones that if ur fans of the artists, u’ll likely enjoy them!
A lil’ late on 2days update and I would have made Kidz In The Hall on top for the 3rd post in a row, but I decided 2 spread the love 2 R&B singer Jay Sean for his new jam called “Murder” f/ Thara. It’s got a unique fast and smooth tempo with an addicting chorus, which is a good combination for a hot banger. DL that above and the mix of hip hop and R&B below featuring the aforementioned Kidz In The Hall (again) but this time with the talented U.K. singer Estelle. Also the latest from Donnie Klang, a StarGate produced track by up and comer Atozzio, and a repetitive track by DJ Khaled and like 10 of his friends with Akon on the hook. I guess it’s ok, but nothin’ will top “We Takin’ Over” and Khaled is just going 2 get real stale real quick. Just my 2 cents. Enjoy!
In honor of Grammy Nite 2nite (CBS 8/7 CT), I pulled out some of my favorite videos for the occasion! First, the fly music video for a 2006 Tibs Fav - “Grammy Family” by the G.O.O.D. Music family of Consequence, Kanye West, & John Legend (with appearances in the video by Common, GLC, and DJ Khaled — who is also credited w/ the track). And if that doesn’t get you in the mood, then maybe 2 of my favorite Grammy performances below that will. First is Alicia Keys performing a beautiful rendition of “If I Ain’t Got You” from the 2005 Grammys that is simply amazing. And finally, prolly my favorite Grammy performance ever, is of Eminem performing “Stan” with Elton John at the 2001 Grammys! For those who don’t kno, Eminem was under a lot of scrutiny from gays and lesbians at the time his 2nd album, The Marshall Mathers LP hit stores and there were even protesters outside the event. Eminem shocked everyone by performing with and hugging Elton John as a sign that he is not a hateful homophobic and a general “F*** You” 2 the haters (as seen with his gesture at the very end of the video, haha). The performance itself is amazing as well as the genius of the song that is rated in many “Best Songs Ever” type lists. Finally, click here for a GWHH-archived Grammy performance from Justin Timberlake, T.I., & Robyn Troup from the 2007 Grammys! Enjoy!
As far as 2nite goes real quick, I’m hoping for our boy Lupe Fiasco 2 win his first of many Grammys 2 come for my favorite song off Lupe Fiasco’s Food & Liquor, “Daydreamin’” and expecting Kanye West 2 clean house, as he could win Album of the Year or many of the rap categories, as he leads all artists with 8 nominations. Most of all, however, I’m real interested 2 see Kanye West perform (and 2 a lesser extent, the John Legend and Fergie?! duet, haha) what I expect 2 be an emotional rendition of “Stronger” and “Hey Mama” that could very well define the 50th edition of the Grammys. It could be the performance of a lifetime for Kanye West with everything that he has gone through recently on perhaps the biggest stage of them all. U should just tune in for that!
DL the performance above from Eminem’s Greatest Hits Album, Curtain Call*Tibs Fav.

I stumbled upon this interview with one of G.O.O.D. Music’s underlooked artists - Consequence. It’s a very interesting read as ‘Quence discusses everything from music to fashion. Here are some excerpts…
When asked about his relationship with Kanye came about…
“Two things…The reason I’m in the game period is because of A Tribe Called Quest. When I met Kanye, he knew me as being Consequence from A Tribe Called Quest. You know, me and Kanye have been working together before he had a deal as a solo artist, when he was producer for Roc-a-Fella…” - ‘Quence goes in much further detail with this interesting story..
When asked whether or not hip-hop is dead…
“How can it be dead when Don’t Quit Your Day Job is out? I’m not even saying that to be funny. But for real, for real, I mean I respect the question that he [Nas] raised and I’m not mad at it. It does get to a point where you have to call people out like — the original form of Hip-Hop…is anybody else still doing it? But I don’t think that snap music kills Hip-Hop because that’s like saying stage music killed Hip-Hop.”
And a brief mention about the next album…
“I’m working on the next album already. It’s called You Win Some, You Lose Some. It’s gonna be crazy — a continuation to Don’t Quit Your Day Job. So now that people know I got another album on the way. They can actually buy it when it comes out instead of three months later.”
You can read the full interview here. And check out a few tracks below from Consequence’s debut album Don’t Quit Your Day Job in stores now!
I know “Grammy Family” is an old track, but ‘Ye and ‘Quence are straight up ridiculous and the track is featured on the album. “Feel This Way” and “Disperse” are 2 of the standout tracks on an album full of quality tracks, with “Disperse” also featuring 2 Chicago and G.O.O.D. Artists - GLC and Really Doe. Enjoy and go out and support another G.O.O.D. artist - Consequence!
