“No one on the corner have swagger like us.. swagger like us.. swagger swagger like us!” This extremely catchy sample will be ringing thru speakers the rest of the year. This is the type of song that defines 2008 for hip hop. Years down the line, when people say the phrase ‘Hip Hop in 2008′, “S.L.U. (Swagger Like Us)” is likely 2 be the first track mentioned. 4 living legends all on one track?! C’mon, unheard of. But T.I. brings in Kanye, Jay-Z, & Weezy for a sure-fire hit… and outshines them all! I’m really diggin’ T.I.’s verse as he articulately rips it, while reflecting on the changes in his life since the well-known charges against him at the same time keeping his high level of swag. Not 2 say the other 3 legends don’t bring it, b/c quite frankly, they all do. Kanye won’t put the autotuner down, but he doesn’t abuse it on this track and comes thru w/ a sick NBA reference, closing his verse with “..Tryna get that Kobe number, one over Jordan”. Weezy comes thru w/ an NBA reference of his own, cleverly name-dropping Carmelo Anthony. Overall tho, “S.L.U. (Swagger Like Us)” is one track that hit me on first listen and will be playin’ a lot for days and weeks 2 come. Check out T.I.’s reaction 2 the leaked track, which was not supposed 2 be released this soon. All these leaked trax can really hurt the album in the long run and that’s somethin’ I don’t wanna see for T.I., but right now Paper Trail is on some Food & Liquor shit w/ all the trax that are leaking… Btw, shouts 2 BOBO again for sendin’ some of the trax thru earlier 2day.. obviously light yrs behind if I’m out and workin’ all day.. :/
Keeping w/ the NEW T.I., I have always wanted a collabo of ATL’s T.I. & Usher; it seemed so realistic 2 me but Ush always sided w/ Luda in the studio. Well my wish has come true and while I feel that it is a sweet track, I also feel it didn’t live up 2 the hype that I put on it myself. T.I. again comes thru with nice verses on life as a celeb in the public’s eye but what disappoints me is that Usher doesn’t play 2 his strengths in the chorus. It’s a sweet chorus and one I’ll be singing along 2 for awhile, but I feel that he coulda sang it his usual way and been a lot better, like his lil’ verse. Finally, “Let My Beat Pound” is the hard banger that T.I. really needs on his album with collaborations already lined up w/ Usher, Justin Timberlake, Rihanna, and The Dream, who all scream ‘POP’! I like the hard beat and the sweet chorus and it’s yet another fire track from T.I.! Paper Trail is shaping up 2 be a classic in my eyes already and I hope the rest of the album delivers like the leaked trax have so far. There are some trax NOT by T.I. below, featuring hitmakers Chris Brown, T-Pain, & Akon as well as R&B singer Joe and don’t sleep on the Fabolous feature. I’m feelin’ Lo So and One Block Radius on that one. Videos can be seen below, including the sexy Cassie w/ her video premiere for her first single off Connecticut Fever, “Official Girl” f/ Lil’ Wayne. Also, my boy Rod Benson comes thru w/ yet another HILARIOUS video - the 3rd Boom Tho music video (click for the lyrics!). The soon-2-be NBA baller is just straight up hilarious! I was in tears after watchin’ this one.. oh my.. Scroll down for one more goodie..
Estelle had a meet & greet 2day in the Gold Coast of downtown Chi and I rolled thru there right after work, reppin’ GWHH as u can see! She was very nice 2 her fans of all ages, posing for pictures, signing autographs, and interacting with everyone who came out 2 see her. It was a pleasure 2 meet one of the artists I’ve pushed heavily throughout the history of GWHH and I continue 2 hope that more of u open ur ears 2 a fresh and multi-talented artist outta the U.K.!

Sry for the late update 2day but it was a travel day for me and I was on the road all day. Regardless, better late than never, starting w/ another unreleased track from Andrew by Lupe Fiasco called “The Birds And The Bees”! Sweet lyrics of course and a Kanye West beat that is certainly reminiscent of his beats of old. Keeping it short and sweet, many cool updates below including NEW RMXs from CHI-Town’s Yung Berg & Ben One, as well as Kardinal Offishall. Finally, a couple video premieres for 2 great songs - The Game’s “My Life” f/ Lil’ Wayne & Gym Class Heroes’ “Cookie Jar” f/ The Dream and some video interviews w/ T.I. & Redman! Enjoy!

Large update, starting with another nice track from up and comer R&B singer Karina Pasian! It’s a slow jam that should be on her upcoming album of the same name, in stores August 19th! More trax below feature a pretty sick beat by The Underdogs, a nice Chris Brown feature, & Mikkey Halsted ripping thru one of my all-time favorite beats (Mobb Deep - “Shook Ones Pt. 2″). Finally, a ton of videos for u 2 look at, including behind the scenes looks at music videos from CRS, Lupe Fiasco, & T.I., and a bunch of Rock The Bells interviews with all the various artists on the bill. Enjoy!

So I haven’t seen the track above floating around our affiliates and large network of blogs around the web (I haven’t checked every one), but regardless, we got this banger in our e-mail this morning, and I feel like sharing it b/c well, I haven’t seen the track or the Liberty City Invasion mixtape released yet. If it has been, who cares, it’s just another Busta track for his fans and I like his flow, one of the better in the game at that, and it’s definitely a heavy track for u 2 blast loud in ur speakers. (Hmm, just talked 2 the guy who sent it 2 us… I guess u heard it here first!)CLICK HERE for a full tracklisting of the DJ Green Lantern mixtape and tour dates for him & Nas!Down below is a couple R&B trax f/ R. Kelly & Cassie and below that, a couple live performances including Nas & Keri Hilson gracing the Jimmy Kimmel Live! stage with a sweet performance of “Hero”! Enjoy!

VIDEO PREMIERE!
Above is all NEW Nas for ya - the long awaited mixtape, The Nigger Tape, with DJ Green Lantern AND the VIDEO PREMIERE of “Be A Nigger Too”. It’s impossible 2 go through and listen and hear Nas without him stirring some thoughts and emotions in you and I think he proves it once again with this mixtape (STILL bumpin’ “Hero” and will be for awhile..!), setting the stage for his album, tentatively titled Nas, in stores July 15th! Below are a couple solid trax from N*E*R*D (another bonus track… Seeing Sounds in stores 2morrow!) and One Chance! Enjoy!
FULL, CDQ, Track from the lost album, World Record Holders*Tibs Fav.
TON of hip hop for ya’ll 2day, comin’ heavy from the Chi-City with the latest from the Go Getters (Kanye West, GLC, Really Doe, with Arrowstar). I’m feelin’ this track a lil’ more than the other 2 that have been released (big ups again 2 FSD!) and it’s still weird/cool 2 hear Kanye pre-accident! U should DL just 2 compare those changes… and check out some of the rest of the Chicago flava with Rhymefest, GLC, & the breakout track from Mikkey Halsted, produced by Kanye West! And ya’ll HAVE 2 DL the NEW Nas track, “Black President”, a conscious track based freshly off the recent event of Barack Obama winning the democratic presidential candidacy! DJ Green Lantern chops it up smoothly with snippets from Obama’s speech and the famous 2Pac line from “Changes” / “I Wonder If Heaven Got A Ghetto” - “We ain’t ready 2 have a black pres-i-dent.”. Sick. And definitely check out some real solid trax from Blu of Blu & Exile, and Styles P and his trio The LOX! Enjoy!
P.S. How fly do those links look below? Unintentional at first, haha.
FULL, CDQ, Rumored track off upcoming album, Year of the Gentleman*Tibs Fav.
Another feature track by R&B singer Ne-Yo! I’m feelin’ this one as well, altho I still can’t stop listening 2 “Closer” and this is not as goood, but still good, haha. I’m in a hurry, so not much else 2 say except 2 just peep the new trax above and below, as well as the NEW Roots video for “Birthday Girl” f/ porn star Sasha Grey, hahaha. Expect the unexpected from The Roots, haha. Oh yeah, u may recognize Akon’s vocals in “I’m So Fly” - that’s cuz they’ve been used in his song “So Fly” from the Longest Yard Soundtrack from ‘05. Maybe Fab’s and Joe’s vocals are recycled also, but I dont know them well enough 2 kno. Either way, sounds good, so DL! And keep it locked 2 GWHH the rest of the week cuz we should have a nice surprise by week’s end, hopefully sooner! Enjoy!
