Big ups 2 lupEND for sending this thru - a Lupe Fiasco feature that is supposedly new (I don’t have it at least). But don’t get fooled, this is a song where Bishop G shines… u should know Bishop G destroying “Little Weapon” on Lupe Fiasco’s The Cool.. FNF UP! But Lupe does nothing else than provide a real nice hook, while Bishop kills it w/ the clarity that made me like him a lot in the first place, even cleverly referencing my favorite team in any sport - Chicago Cubs and Michael Jordan’s gambling controversy from about 15 years ago. Damn. Sweet track from another Chicago rapper that ya’ll shouldn’t sleep on. Down below some more solid trax w/ Big Boi comin’ thru on a unique, hard track called “Dubbz”, Nappy Roots RMXing that catchy tune “Good Day” w/ a Barack Obama flair (shouts 2 2dope).. I really like Robin Thicke’s 2nd single, slow jam w/ lyrics that’ll speak 2 any fan of R&B. Ciara and Missy Elliott come through with “1, 2 Step 2008″ “Work”, a catchy Danja-produced track and Paula DeAnda comes thru w/ a song that I like called “I Was Ready”. Above is a video premiere I wasn’t expecting so fast, but it actually makes sense that Big Boi & Mary J. Blige released the video for “Something’s Gotta Give”, given the current state of the country and their clear backing of Barack Obama! The video is pretty neat, illustrating some of the issues they talk about in the lyrics, all the while lookin’ fly (Big Boi) & sexy (Mary J.)! Above are a couple nice, nice trax from the boy R. Les as he comes thru with another R&B jam as the lyrics is the component that stands out on “Wanna Be Good”. He also remixes his own song with the “I.R.I.N.A. RMX”, showcasing his rap skills over a neat lil beat that features some beat boxing! And yes, he has them - he was a Harvard prodigy and can pretty much do everything, haha. I like both trax that are a nice addition 2 ur library. Naledge (Of Kidz In The Hall).. Mugshot, haha.
“Double O from the hip hop group Kidz In The Hall was assaulted by several bouncers early Saturday morning, July 26, while inside a nightclub in Tempe, AZ following a Kidz In The Hall performance. Group member and friend Naledge, who did not witness the assault on Double O, was arrested outside of the club. Naledge’s attempt to get medical assistance for Double O was misconstrued as a hinderence to the investigation. Reports that no injuries were sustained are false as Double O was taken to the hospital with multiple injuries from the excessive force used by club security. On Sunday morning Double O underwent surgery for one of his injuries. He is still in the hospital, but in stable condition.” (Thx 2 Matt C. for the e-mail!)
The story above pretty much explains it and altho Naledge seems happy (in the mugshot, I’m sure not in general), we hope Double-O can make a speedy recovery and that the incident was nothing more than a misunderstanding. Here’s 2day’s NEW music update with the feature track bein’ from one of my all-time favorites - DMX! It is a sincere, focused collaboration with the British singer, Seal, and it’s a hot one! I really like the DMX (and all rappers actually) when they really use their lyrics 2 focus on something meaningful, and this track is shades of that old DMX. Def a MUST-HAVE for the hip hop fans out there. Below, there’s some more quality trax that cover a variety of taste, as I’m really feelin the 2nd part of Joe Budden’s “Who”, which is nearly 6 minutes long of Budden straight up rapping on some throught-provoking issues of hip hop a la Pt. 1! Can’t wait for Pt. 3 of this lil’ series of trax. If ur a big Trey Songz fan like me, you’ll be satisfied with his 2 latest features, altho I’m not really feelin’ the entire trax as a whole.. and the 2 R&B trax at the bottom by Joe (shouts 2 Urban Music) and featuring Colby O’Donis are pretty solid as well.
