FULL, CDQ, 1st single off upcoming, untitled 3rd album *Tibs Fav.™
“It’s going to be a surprise for a lot of John Legend fans, because it is a lot more upbeat than John is — than people think John is. I was actually happy to hear it. This is a cool John Legend song.” - Andre 3000
NEW John Legend above as I’ve been waiting for the full version of “Green Light” f/ Andre 3000 2 drop for a long time now (thx 2 Legend in our CBox & Young Kingz)! This is the definition of a fun song - uptempo beat and fun lyrics, especially from Andre 3000. Definitely not what we’re accustomed 2 from JL, but he said so himself that this 1st single would be something different and ‘3000 supports that with his quote above. With Andre 3000 on board, I can see this hitting the mainstream and attracting more of an audience to John Legend. It is a great pick for a 1st single and I’d expect even better songs for the album, tentatively due in September! Judge for yourself and DL a track that is a MUST-HAVE for your collection! Below is a RMX of Alicia Keys’ latest hit, “Teenage Love Affair” f/ Al Be Back, who doesn’t add that much 2 the song, but it was a great one to begin with anyway. More NEW trax below featuring another heavy one by Nas (and DJ Khaled??? C’mon, everyone wants 2 see a Nas/Lupe collabo waaaay before Nas/DJ Khaled, haha!), LL Cool J, Casely, Danity Kane/Fabolous, & some requests featuring Estelle, The Game, & Busta Rhymes! Enjoy!
My apologies for rollin’ thru late 2day… was traveling w/o cpu access for nearly half the day, but a ton of updates for 2day with the “Moving Mountains” premiere above! It is supposed 2 be a continuation of the “Love In This Club” video where Usher is standing in the wreckage from the club burning down around him from the previous video. Definitely a more powerful video with all the imagery and special effects that u should see for urself. Down below is a bunch of NEW trax f/ Usher again (Here I Stand bonus track), a John Legend/Andre 3000 snippet - the first single of JL’s new album that I’ve been anticipating for quite sometime now. Also check out some more unreleased Cool Kids trax, a couple Saigon trax, an Akon feature, and an acoustic version of the Jordin Sparks/Chris Brown hit “No Air”! Enjoy!
***For all our Chicago fans, Matthew Santos is going 2 be doin’ his own thing while he’s in town for the Glow In The Dark Tour 2morrow night! All the info is on the flyer and while I can’t make it, ya’ll should go if u can and have a good time!***
1. Kanye West
2. Jay-Z
3. Lil’ Wayne
4. Rick Ross
5. Snoop Dogg
6. 50 Cent
7. Lupe Fiasco
8. Young Jeezy
9. Andre 3000
10. T.I.
No surprise 2 me as Kanye West was named MTV’s #1 Hottest MC of 2008 after the success of Graduation catapulted the Chicago MC into super-duperstardom. Haha. Kanye’s on another planet right now and very deserving of the #1 spot IMHO. Not 2 many beefs w/ the list IMO as well, although I think I’d switch T.I. and Dre 3000 and 50 and Lupe. Yes, I’m biased on Lupe but his star is quickly on the rise whereas Curtis’ is quickly on the fall. Still I can see the argument as 50 and Snoop Dogg still have more commercial appeal than Lupe at this point. Oh yeah, Rick Ross #4?!?! I hear they’ll be re-airing the special on MTV 2nite (debuted yesterday) so check ur local listings if ur interested. Below you can find a couple nice R&B trax by 2 of the most talented females of the genre - Mrs. Tibs Jay-Z & Jennifer Hudson. (I usually don’t go 2 pics in a post but I think u can forgive me on this 1 :D) The trax are really nice listens tho and you shouldn’t hesitate to DL the slower R&B jams below! Enjoy!
As you can tell above, you can peep the latest in music videos as “We Made It” headlines the group. The song and video were released in the same day! How crazy is that? Well, I had a feeling the video would follow the song very quickly since it was already shot and Busta’s been trying 2 keep his tracks on the down low. Quick note: my main internet connection is unbearably slow and I’ll have some new trax for ya guys 2morrow for sure. Anyway, my buddy and I were talkin’ late last nite about various music topics and one of them was about one of our all-time favorites - John Legend - and his upcoming album due in September. We read this interview below that gives some information about the trax on his album and it is definitely looking 2 be very different than his previous 2 with more pop/mainstream beats and a more fun vibe to his CD. We agreed that it could be a mistake if he doesn’t stay true to himself, but I personally like the direction the album is going and I’m predicting his collabo with Andre 3000 will hit the Top 10. Check out the track descriptions below and full interview HERE!
Green Light ft Andre 3000-sounds futuristic with tapping drums and John singing “give me the green light, give me just one night…I’m ready to go right now” and Andre hopes that “you’re more like Anita Baker than Robin Givens.” Anything with Dre makes us smile.
Satisfaction-producer will.i.am pops out the synthy chords and melodious chorus and John’s asking “can I get me some satisfaction?” over rising keys. Ehn…
Everybody Knows- got some stabbing drums, guitar strums, layered chorus that swells as Mr. Legend sings “I wish we gave it one more try.”
No Other Love ft Estelle- reggae beat, estelle = niceness
Cross The Line-producer will.i.am broke out the Three6 Mafia drums on this one. Ae you guys sure you didn’t hit the strip club John?
Good Morning-ok, John played this joint twice and wouldn’t let us talk or take notes. What we can say is that this jam is all about good morning loving. PARLOUR COSIGN.
Aim High-here we’re back to classic john, through acoustic instruments and surprisingly, The Neptunes produced it. we don’t think the duo made the Once Again credits so it’s good to see The Neptunes and John back together again.
FULL, CDQ, Rumored Track off upcoming album, Sir Luscious Left Foot*Tibs Fav.
Some HOT stuff for ya 2day, including a NEW (and CDQ) track by Big Boi, Dre 3000, & Raekwon! 3000 is rappin’ about the hokey pokey, haha! Good stuff. Below are some cool videos featuring Chicago’s finest - Kanye & Lupe of course! Kanye has been releasing some videos from his listening party for Graduation from back in the summer and they are both interesting videos that help enhance the songs even more! Below those 2 videos, you can check out a sneak peak at the LIVE performance of Lupe Fiasco, Nikki Jean, & Matthew Santos at the Hot 97 Full Frontal Show! Nikki Jean almost missed it and got on stage as the music began, haha! Anyway, it’s a cool look at what u can expect for the Glow In The Dark Tour, which I can’t wait for! Enjoy!
Enjoy a couple quick hit vids for ya! I kno ya’ll are goin 2 like that Gnarls Barkley premiere, haha. And since I’m in the Semi-Pro mood, I found a sweet video interview with Andre 3000, who talks everything from hip hop - the state of hip hop and his potential retirement?, parenting, politics, 2 improvising for Semi-Pro in theatres 2day, co-starring Will Ferrell! Loved the interview, saw some clips in the movie as well that were NOT in the trailers, and am now even more psyched 2 finally go see this soon, altho that might not even be possible, haha! Enjoy!
CONGRATS 2 Max G. for his Glow In The Dark situation below! Haha, that’s crazy! Maybe I’ll see ya there?! but I think my buddy got tix for the 1st nite, haha.
Erykah Badu is releasing her new album on Feb. 26 titled “New Amerykah”.
This will be a 3 part series of albums, the second which is to be titled “The Kabbah”.
Each album will have a different twist on political views and critics are describing this new movement for Erykah as very “progressive avant garde rock”.
A quality about Erykah Badu is that she is a very highly skilled songwriter, where you have to read between the lines to get tha twist. In the interview above, she described the single “Honey”, which we posted earlier saying, “So sweet, Sugar got a long way to catch him…”.
Haha, her new album is going to be great, make sure you check out 3 NEW tracks from the “New Amerykah” album below and also check some Andre 3k blends under that. Much love!
