Another hot track from Trey Songz, as he adds his flava 2 the current #1 single in the country - T.I.’s “Whatever You Like”! Dirty lyrics are abound and delivered nicely… still doesn’t compare 2 the T.I. original, but I still like this version and will keep it in my select rotation for sure. Down below a few more NEW trax f/ the various artists listed below, but I should also draw attention 2 the lil’ Kanye West video at the bottom… a very short snippet of Kanye performing a supposed, brand NEW track. As you can tell above, you can peep the latest in music videos as “We Made It” headlines the group. The song and video were released in the same day! How crazy is that? Well, I had a feeling the video would follow the song very quickly since it was already shot and Busta’s been trying 2 keep his tracks on the down low. Quick note: my main internet connection is unbearably slow and I’ll have some new trax for ya guys 2morrow for sure. Anyway, my buddy and I were talkin’ late last nite about various music topics and one of them was about one of our all-time favorites - John Legend - and his upcoming album due in September. We read this interview below that gives some information about the trax on his album and it is definitely looking 2 be very different than his previous 2 with more pop/mainstream beats and a more fun vibe to his CD. We agreed that it could be a mistake if he doesn’t stay true to himself, but I personally like the direction the album is going and I’m predicting his collabo with Andre 3000 will hit the Top 10. Green Light ft Andre 3000-sounds futuristic with tapping drums and John singing “give me the green light, give me just one night…I’m ready to go right now” and Andre hopes that “you’re more like Anita Baker than Robin Givens.” Anything with Dre makes us smile.
Satisfaction-producer will.i.am pops out the synthy chords and melodious chorus and John’s asking “can I get me some satisfaction?” over rising keys. Ehn…
Everybody Knows- got some stabbing drums, guitar strums, layered chorus that swells as Mr. Legend sings “I wish we gave it one more try.”

Aim High-here we’re back to classic john, through acoustic instruments and surprisingly, The Neptunes produced it. we don’t think the duo made the Once Again credits so it’s good to see The Neptunes and John back together again.

The NEW album from Minneapolis hip hop group Atmosphere will be released this Tuesday (the 22nd) and above is a track from that album that I’m really likin called “In Her Music Box”! It concludes the album and Slug had this 2 say about the track,
“It’s about a little girl who learned how to use and abuse escapism through music. It finishes the story [of the album]. When we made this song, I knew the minute it was finished it would be the last song on the album.”

A couple Lupe tidbits… “Superstar” f/ Matthew Santos has climbed 2 #10 on the Billboard Hot 100! #10?! The promotion has been really stellar for the single as Lupe has performed it everywhere on national tv and went with a big-budget for the video. With the perfectly-timed drop of the RMX f/ popular southern rappers Young Jeezy & T.I., I would assume the RMX and the original will be pushed even more heavily on the radio stations everywhere across the country and I could see “Superstar” climbing even higher! That would be even more gross. Finally, catch Carson Daly 2nite as Lupe Fiasco will again be performing, potentially the “canned” performance of “Hip-Hop Saved My Life” f/ Nikki Jean?! Video will be up ASAP! Stay tuned!

Here’s a couple more real hip hop trax for ya ears before I catch some zzzz’s for the nite! Wow, that Rakim track is ridiculous. He’s always been an old-school MC that I’ve liked and his creativity can still be seen in 2day’s artists. The other track by Akrobatik (a Boston MC who is a favorite of Guru’s) is another real hip hop track that I’m feelin’ as well. DL them both above and enjoy!
