Some more quick-hit trax for ya Sunday evening, including yet another cover/RMX from Trey Songz! Again, this is an abundance of songs from Songz that I can’t complain about. He continues 2 kill every beat he jumps on and each track shows a different side of the artist, whether its his voice, flow, rhymes, or ability 2 adapt 2 any type of beat. So keep ‘em comin’ Trey! I know there’s more ppl lovin’ what they’re hearin’ than gettin’ tired of u jumpin’ on every beat. Down below, about a handful of trax that are mainly forgettable but Nelly actually comes through with a lyrical, slow hip hop jam that I actually like and is supposedly a bonus track off Brass Knuckles. Enjoy!
Wow, all day I was expecting the CDQ version of “Love Lockdown” but it didn’t surface on iTunes or anywhere. I’m optimistic it’ll be out 2morrow (Tuesday) as Tuesdays are usually new release day anyway. So we’ll see, but in the meantime, there’s plenty of music in this post 2 keep ya busy, starting w/ a couple hot NEW trax from The Cool Kids. “Dreamin’” stands out especially b/c it’s a fresh beat, even for the hip hop duo who always come w/ a unique sound, but also b/c of the lyrics. They come thru w/ a story, especially on the masterful 2nd verse, and I love songs that do that (Lupe’s “Hip Hop Saved My Life” is my all-time favorite storytelling song). Add a captivating sample for a hook that matches the song’s beat and content perfectly and it equals a song that I’ll be playin’ on my iTunes for some time 2 come. Big ups 2 The Morning Tilt & Trolley Stop Entertainment!
There’s another big update below as trax from big names like Ne-Yo, Estelle, & Mrs. Carter can be had as well as a bunch of R&B. Good 2 see Casely w/ a 2nd straight track w/ a well-known producer (Danja the other one), but I’m not totally feelin’ it just yet. There’s also some vids 2 peep including the latest from Cons, Lupe’s very limited air time @ the MTV VMAs last nite, and a lil’ interview w/ Young Jeezy! Enjoy!
First off, be sure 2 check out Max G.’s post, where we celebrate the 1st anniversary of Gowhere Hip Hop! It’s a must-read so please take the time 2 check it out and don’t just skim it looking for music. As for the music, FSD drops another old, unreleased song featuring a Chicago rapper, this one a freestyle with Lupe Fiasco. Likewise w/ Kanye West, it is very interesting 2 hear the growth and differences of old Lupe vs. NEW Lupe. As u can see in this freestyle, Lupe flows like his usual, top-notch self, but surely with a harder edge than the Lupe you’re prolly used 2. Of course he comes thru w/ some nice lines that is delivered on point as well. Below, u can check out some more NEW trax featuring T.I., Akon, Jennifer Hudson, Christina Milian, & MORE! The vid section contains the already much-talked about (and hilarious) Shaq freestyle where he disses former teammate Kobe Bryant. In case u haven’t seen it, u can see it below, but the statement Shaq released about the freestyle also warrants mentioning (u can see that below the video). U can also view a behind the scenes look at the making of the video for “Paris, Tokyo” by Lupe Fiasco. Enjoy!
I saw some Lupe Fiasco track requests of songs that were supposed 2 be on Lupe Fiasco’s Food & Liquor but were pulled b/c of the infamous leak. The 2 I picked were one of my all-time favorite Lupe trax “Spray Paint” f/ Ghostface & Mike Shinoda (Of Linkin Park & Fort Minor). I still can’t decide which rapper gets the nod for the best verse on this song, but they’re all so so sick. And another fresh track that I liked was “Lupe The Killer” (Killa.. Killa.. Killa..!), especially w/ lil sample voice going, “…and you ain’t dressed for this aff-air..”. Haha, I love that. If you don’t have these, please add them 2 ur Lupe collection and DL below! Enjoy!
“I was freestyling. That’s all. It was all done in fun. Nothing serious whatsoever. That is what mc’s do. They freestyle when called upon. I’m totally cool with Kobe. No issue at all. And by the way, don’t forget, six albums, two platinum, two gold. Anybody who knows me knows I’m a funny freestyler. Check the NBA DVD when I was wrapping about Vlade Divac during my first championship run. Please tell everybody don’t make something out of nothing.”
A lil’ late on 2days update and I would have made Kidz In The Hall on top for the 3rd post in a row, but I decided 2 spread the love 2 R&B singer Jay Sean for his new jam called “Murder” f/ Thara. It’s got a unique fast and smooth tempo with an addicting chorus, which is a good combination for a hot banger. DL that above and the mix of hip hop and R&B below featuring the aforementioned Kidz In The Hall (again) but this time with the talented U.K. singer Estelle. Also the latest from Donnie Klang, a StarGate produced track by up and comer Atozzio, and a repetitive track by DJ Khaled and like 10 of his friends with Akon on the hook. I guess it’s ok, but nothin’ will top “We Takin’ Over” and Khaled is just going 2 get real stale real quick. Just my 2 cents. Enjoy!
