Producer: Jazze Pha - 2002 track off the album, Better Dayz*Tibs Fav.™
Old School Sundays is back after a brief hiatus (still waitin’ on a mixtape idea that is perfect for OSS, hence the delay..), but I was inspired by the recent heat from T.I. 2 find somethin’ old school of his that some of u may have not heard before. The above song is certainly not rare, but it is also a good 6 years since it has been released and I know T.I. has gained a lot of casual fans since then, most of whom might not have ever heard of this track until now! It’s got a nice Jazze beat along w/ 2 of the best 2 ever flow on the mic showin’ why in 2Pac & T.I.! I always was feelin’ Johnta on the hook as well, but the story is T.I.’s breakout verse which certainly propelled his career, still in its early stages at the time of this release, 2 the superstar status he has attained now. So def check this track out if u don’t have it already; it’s a MUST-HAVE for hip hop fans! Enjoy!
I’m likin’ the black & white, but I was expecting something unique and fresh like the song itself. Still a solid video, featuring some nice live performance angles, but like I said, I was expecting something a lil’ more artsy.
Gym Class Heroes “Peace Sign/Index Down” f/ Busta Rhymes
VIDEO PREMIERE!
A fresh video with a lot of face time w/ the artists. The plain background works as well and the song has such a gripping message on first listen, u’ll likely watch this one all the way thru and maybe even more!
The Outlawz “Everything Happenz 4 A Reason”
VIDEO PREMIERE!
Perhaps my favorite video of the premieres in this post… done in a semi-documentary style, showing live tour performances mixed in with some video from 2Pac’s last nite (as u can imagine, tying in with the song title). Def a MUST-SEE for 2Pac & Outlawz fans alike!
Keri Hilson “Energy”
VIDEO PREMIERE!
LOVE Keri Hilson! The video only enhances her sexiness as she still maintains that with the boxing and working out theme… she still looks great breakin’ a sweat. The song is nice also and the vid inspires me 2 like it even more. The ladies will definitely love her strong image in both the video and the lyrics.
Nas Performs @ ALIFE
A little amateur video of Nas performing in a small, packed house. Hard 2 fully understand unless ur listening/watching closely, but as u can imagine, Nas kills it (and I’ll see for myself soon enough!). Untitled in stores 2day.. can’t wait 2 pick up my copy!
Lupe Fiasco “Streets On Fire” f/ Matthew Santos & Sarah Green
LIVE @ Somerset House
Props 2 LupEND for passing this thru our email as u can head over there 2 DL the full concert in audio and video. The video above is an great, super, excellent, awesome performance of one of my all-time fav. Lupe trax, “Streets On Fire”, as all 3 perform wonderfully. Aite, I’m running out of generic adjectives, but either way, both Santos (especially with the beginning intro) and Sarah Green (on the chorus, and throughout… didn’t I say that once before?) shine as Lupe graciously gives them the spotlight and then shines in his own as he rips through every word passionately in his 2 verses. Just an overall awesome performance that makes me wish that I was there. MUST-SEE (only 6 minutes long..!)
Kanye West - In An Absolut World (Commercial)
It’s gettin’ late.. might take another viewing 2 understand this commercial fully, but its Kanye, he looks fly in this commercial and well, take it for what it is! Enjoy!
So here’s a quick-hit video for Old School Sundays and Father’s Day! It is a creative top 10 list (with no order) on YouTube featuring 10 verses of hip hop songs throughout the years that are dedicated to fathers or written in the perspective of the father. It is a very neat compilation and features some real nice verses from a couple of my all-time favs - Eminem & 2Pac as well as Nas, Lil’ Wayne, and many more that u can see below! If you want a full track of one of these songs, feel free 2 request it in our ShoutBox or by writing a comment on the post. Enjoy and once again Happy Father’s Day!

TON of hip hop for ya’ll 2day, comin’ heavy from the Chi-City with the latest from the Go Getters (Kanye West, GLC, Really Doe, with Arrowstar). I’m feelin’ this track a lil’ more than the other 2 that have been released (big ups again 2 FSD!) and it’s still weird/cool 2 hear Kanye pre-accident! U should DL just 2 compare those changes… and check out some of the rest of the Chicago flava with Rhymefest, GLC, & the breakout track from Mikkey Halsted, produced by Kanye West! And ya’ll HAVE 2 DL the NEW Nas track, “Black President”, a conscious track based freshly off the recent event of Barack Obama winning the democratic presidential candidacy! DJ Green Lantern chops it up smoothly with snippets from Obama’s speech and the famous 2Pac line from “Changes” / “I Wonder If Heaven Got A Ghetto” - “We ain’t ready 2 have a black pres-i-dent.”. Sick. And definitely check out some real solid trax from Blu of Blu & Exile, and Styles P and his trio The LOX! Enjoy!
P.S. How fly do those links look below? Unintentional at first, haha.
I haven’t posted much since the completion of the new design, but now that skoolz out 4 summer I’ve got some sunny things to share. Check the Exclusive Gowhere Hip Hop Mixtape I put together below w/ complimentary cover art/back art that I did. There’s everything you need to make a physical copy. Share it with your friends. It’s a lot of good things compiled to make an excellent physical CD. 100% gwhere. H.A.G.S.
Above is the official? RMX 2 Lupe Fiasco’s next hit single, “Paris, Tokyo” featuring the legendary C.L. Smooth! I say “official?” because I hear it is just a Mick Boggie Mix and that’s why I was hesitant to post it when I saw it a little bit earlier in the week I think. Either way, I figure I would share it as this week has finally cooled off for me a lil. Haha, anyway, there’s some more Tibs Favs below by Immortal Technique & 2Pac, Kidz In The Hall f/ The Cool Kids & more and a sweet Ne-Yo feature - all of which you guys should DL and give a try. Below them, you can find the latest video premiere for Rihanna and a sick freestyle by ‘Quence, Nelly, & Murphy Lee (where’s he been at the past few yrs?) I’ll be back early Sunday for Old School Sundays and looking forward 2 a good week in music, with hopefully the full version of the Busta Rhymes/Linkin Park track, a NEW T.I. track, and albums from The Roots & Estelle (out here in the States.) For now, enjoy!
Producer: 2Pac, Soulshock, & Karlin - Track off 2Pac/Outlawz 1998 album, Still I Rise*Tibs Fav.
So I’ve been going thru all my 2Pac this week since I needed some more music 2 listen 2 with all the hours I’ve been up this week and I realized that one of my favorite trax of his mite actually be one of his lesser known songs and that I’d share that with u guys 2day for Old School Sundays. As you can see above, it is essentially “Keep Ya Head Up II” - a sequel to one of 2Pac’s groundbreaking hits “Keep Ya Head Up”. It’s immediately captivating on first listen with the old school 90s beat and 2Pac’s first verse registering with his powerful delivery. And if that’s not enough, the chorus strikes a chord with not only his subject (women that were raped) but 2 all of us when times are down. The Outlawz bring it as well in the song and throughout the album as Still I Rise isn’t one of 2Pac’s most heralded posthumous albums and most popular, but there are some sparkling gems throughout like this one. So while 2Pac has passed on, his legacy still remains present and his songs will live on forever. If you don’t have this track, and even if ur not a fan of 2Pac, I’d suggest DLing it above and take a step back 2 listen 2 the lyrics. Just another example of the tragic, young talent that was Tupac Shakur. Enjoy!
It is a rare day where one of my old favorites releases a NEW track as Montell Jordan has come out with a club-banger with the Ying Yang Twins that you might like! “This Is How We Do It” is his biggest hit and one of my all-time favs, so it’s great 2 see he’s still making music. A lot of NEW trax for 2day, but I’m honestly not feelin’ a lot of them, maybe u will. Scroll down for the heavy trax from the past few days f/ Lupe Fiasco, Estelle & John Legend, and Bobby Valentino for the MUST-DOWNLOADS that u can’t miss! Enjoy!
FULL, CDQ, 1st Single off of upcoming album, First Impression*Tibs Fav.
If you haven’t heard of G.O.O.D. Music artist Really Doe (above, right), well now you will because the track above is a MUST-DL! Sick beat, sick verses from the Chicago rapper and oh yeah, Mr. Kanye West! Any hip hop fan would enjoy that track. Also below there are 2 more HOT NEW trax by the Go’s R&B group One Chance and the first single off of Beyonce’s 3rd album! Below that check out the day’s news and videos! Enjoy!
Finally, the L.A. Times issued an apology for their false story last week on the 2Pac NYC Quad shooting that accused Diddy as part of the set up. The information given to them was wrong and well, they don’t look very smart after this at all. The mysteries surrounding 2Pac and Biggie’s death still remain such. Click HERE for the full story!
“This drawing is entitled NEGRO RULE. and it pretty much sums up the feeling of the Confederate Union towards the newly freed slaves and the idea that if given power they would reek havoc and chaos on the country.” - ?uestlove
Whoo, a lot of Roots info up there - really diggin’ that cover art as well as the NEW track above! Rising Down is shaping up 2 be sick - I still can’t stop listening 2 “75 Bars”, haha. Below is some more NEW Trax and News. DMX is officially BACK with a hot NEW 1st single (street single prolly) off his upcoming double album, Walk With Me Now, Fly With Me Later! I’m really feelin’ this track and excited for the album due out in August! Ugh, that’s still so far, haha. Everything else you can see above and below! Enjoy!
In some very interesting, developing news, apparently there is new evidence that Puff and Biggie KNEW that 2Pac was getting set up in the Quad Recording Shooting in N.Y. that set off their whole feud and eventually helped lead to the deaths of 2Pac and Biggie. Below is a couple excerpts:
“In an upcoming article written by Chuck Phillips on the latest developments, the Los Angeles Times claims that Combs was notified in advance that the trap for Shakur had been laid, according to sources familiar with the incident.”
“‘I don’t believe that Biggie and Puffy set Tupac up,’ Phillips said. ‘According to these people I have interviewed and according to these documents, they knew about it,’ he said. “But they didn’t know they were going to get shot. They knew he was going to get beat up. Then it kind of went haywire when it all happened.”
The L.A. Times will have the full story on their website on Monday as well as an interactive timeline. I’ve always been intrigued by the mystery surrounding 2Pac and Biggie and I’ll def be up on this on Monday.
Finally, props 2 JB-Kang in our shoutbox for passing along this well-written editorial examining Lupe’s lyrics, specifically in boasting about his own abilities. Good stuff that u can read with one click below!
And just cuz this might have been the shot of the YEAR.. and oh, that I attend the University of Minnesota, u gotta see this! 2 more wins and we’re in the tourney!
FINALLY, check out Max’s post below, the MJ vids are always classic and the Kanye vid at the bottom is one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen, hahaha. MUST-WATCH!
