With The Weeknd's debut release of Trilogy yesterday, HDD is predicting a strong first week of sales for the Toronto singer - in the ballpark of 95-105K. This is especially impressive since 27 of the 30 tracks on the 3 CD project have been released already (in the form of Weeknd's transformative mixtapes in 2011-12.)
Yesterday I was asked at the office if I thought The Weeknd would become a mainstream star. The short answer: yes. Depending on your scope even, he already is. My point is that I definitely see The Weeknd growing into more of the mainstream consciousness as he continues to tour, collab, and put out more music. However you view it, it's hard to argue against the promising mix of quality and quantity of music that has launched The Weeknd into the strong debut release of Trilogy.
