Sir Michael Rocks "NWO"

Sir Michael Rocks' new mixtape, Lap Of Lux, dropped yesterday and we had it bumpin' loud in the office all the way through in the afternoon. We weren't the only ones as Lap Of Lux made waves trending on Twitter. I posted the mixtape but wanted to blog about it as well and give it even more shine. About a handful of tracks in came one that immediately piqued my interest - "NWO". It's probably because the NWO had a big impact on a growing Sgt. Tibs (this was as traumatic moment as any back in the day) and I was wondering if there would be any direct reference. Well, there wasn't, but this track does epitomize both vintage Mikey Rocks and growing Mikey Rocks. 

What jumped out at me the most throughout Lap Of Lux, was Rocks' growth in experimenting with new flows. "NWO" has a mix of a few within the song itself. It's his faster flow, starting with his allusion to an oscelot (and reminding him of his talk with us on animals), that really upped my attention to another level. I was left wanting more and was happy to see even more fresh switch ups of the flow in the couple of tracks after. Just take note of how he pronounces and emphasizes certain sounds. Not everything is rapped in his classic monotone, which I still dig by the way, and I'd say Rocks was successful in all of these fresh, subtle, yet and growth-indicating deliveries.
