Not quite the pairing you would expect to see in the title, huh? Well, let's kick off today's batch of videos with some hilarity, courtesy of Will Ferrell Jeff Vuvuzela, you guessed it, the inventer of the World Cup instrument, vuvuzela. This took place at last night's ESPYs - the sports award show that I had no desire to watch until Seth Meyers' hilarious monologue reeled me in, quickly followed by Paul Rudd & Steve Carrell's spoof of 'The Decision'. Anyway, if you missed it, you are probably wondering how Ferrell and Monáe were even on stage together in the first place. Well, Miss Monáe was tabbed as the special guest performer at the ESPYs, a great look for her, which goes without saying. After Vuvuzela's funny interview with Seth Meyers, he brings up Janelle Monáe for their duet - track number 40 on Vuvuzela's debut album, to be exact. 5+ minutes that will keep you laughing so press play and sit back and enjoy.
The jokes don't stop there. Affion Crockett dropped his hilarious spoof of Drake's Tim Westwood freestyle that had me spittin' water at the screen from the 'grey hoodie' punchline onward. The guy he got to spoof Tim Westwood killed it also. Lastly, we move into a more serious mood with Ne-Yo's mini movie of his first two singles off the upcoming album, Libra Scale, "Beautiful Monster" and "Champagne Life". Collectively, they are 15 minutes long and are linked together for basically the first 10 minutes. The last 5 minutes of "Champagne Life" is practically your typical video poppin' bottles of champagne, which was disappointing that it didn't connect with the story set up by "Beautiful Monster" more directly. The story elements in the latter are actually kind of creepy as Ne-Yo is tabbed to save the world before alluding the 'beautiful monster'. Some dope choreography adds to the entertainment, but overall, I'm not that high on the direction the videos took. And it warrants mentioning that Ne-Yo's hat keeps getting lower and lower on his face. How can dude see? Anyway, peep all the videos here and stay tuned for more new music updates soon. Enjoy!
