Features 17 NEW Tracks!
I've had the pleasure of watching Sulaiman's rise firsthand for quite some time. He's been treating the Chicago scene with his work ethic and lyrical symmetry for the past few years. Here's another project that demonstrates his gasconade. Past Perfect, ladies and gentlemen. On his latest opus, he chronicles his growth as an emcee in a myriad of ways. He traverses the different intricacies involving women on tracks like "Blessing," "Lost in Translation," and "Fantasy World." Real player commentary with a heavy dosage of honesty. Outside of highly candid, relatable raps, Past Perfect takes listeners on a wide array of different sounds and production styles from the likes of Sa-Ra Creative Partners, BroadNMarket, The Stuyvesants, Knxwledge, Nameless, Constrobuz and others. Chicago based producers Thelonius Martin and Nez & Rio, who both have been on fire, also have strong contributions on Past Perfect. Suli the Great's gumption, as well as, his progression as an artist/song writer are on display throughout the project. He boastfully scolds all naysayers and "scenesters" on tracks like "I Was Dreaming" and "Surprise." You can definitely tell Suli is tired of the mediocrity and wackness of some who occupy the great windy city. Furthermore, he exhibits his dismay with more scathing bars: "Rap shows like the night of the living dead. Wack hoes just arrive tryna get at bread, and what is said is rarely shown in reality, clones giving value to thrones-- here ya Majesty." Quite the smart aleck, right? Word to the wise, start checking for Sulaiman's grooves. It would be the smart move.
