Nelly's Derrty ENT and Bow Wow's Cash Money team went head to head this past Sunday for one of seven games of which the losing team would donate $100,000 to an education based charity! Basketball is a great medium to instill inspiration in competition for success and education. Anyone can just sign away a check, but the ones that actually show up are the ones that instill hope. It's important to be there, and create experiences with the communities you're helping. It's also the best and most effective method, because it shows care from the artist, which is what lacks when money is just transferred from one account to another.
The event was held in Chicago's UIC Pavilion, where the gameplay grew from relaxed to steep competition. Once fourth quarter came around both teams found themselves at a tie of 117 to 117 with only 23.8 seconds remaining. Click continue reading to find out the winner who took the game by only 3 points in double overtime! Even though it was friendly competition, you could see the tension between Nelly and Bow Wow as on the fence game calls, and aggressive play caused both teams to really go at it. Come the 3:45 mark you could see an awkward confrontation between Nelly and Bow Wow after the game ended causing it to finish on a sizzling note! :)
Make sure you check the video medley I put together of the game above, and some great slideshow images of our experience that night. Also don't miss the talented King College Prep High School Drumline band in the video above who kept us entertained during half time. Big props and much respect to Nelly and Bow Wow for their kindness and creativity in putting together such a positive and uplifting charity event, which will instill much hope and help educate the coming generation. Congratulations to both teams, and enjoy!
