If you are familiar with last year's (ha! ..last year's.. give it 2 more weeks..) R&B mixtape single from Drake - "I Get Lonely Too" - then it is probably safe to say that you was as surprised as I to see Jeremih's name above. Since the mixtape is now scrapped, perhaps the single got sent around to artists by the label to try and make it a single to officially push? Or, the theory I am leaning towards: Jeremih simply added his own flavor to this one as he sings over some of Drake's verses with his own, especially as Drake is still fairly dominant with some of his original solos still included. At this point, it's just speculation, so some comments on the song itself: I personally like both Jeremih's new additions and Drake's original, but the fusion together sounds a little forced. Maybe I wouldn't feel that if this was the first and only version I heard, but because of this, I kind of get the feeling Jeremih just went in on it. Either way, from the very beginning, I like Jeremih's delivery and his voice is a nice contrast to Drake and the 40 production. Check it out above and decipher your own opinions and we'll see if any news or updates comes out of this release (shouts 2 HHC).
Down below lies a handful of downloads and a couple videos for ya eyes and ears. Some unreleased Freddie Gibbs (shouts 2 TSS) begins things followed by some new Slaughterhouse. "Back To The Scene" falls short to me because of the lackluster hook and production, but it could grow on me the more I listen to the verses. Perhaps also check out some unreleased(?) Wiz Khalifa as he raps over a fast-paced StarGate production, some new Yelawolf & Trae Tha Truth, and an uptempo pop record from new artest Phreshy featuring Trey Songz that honestly falls flat. Finally, those videos include the official video to the official Black & Yellow RMX and a trailer to Consequence's upcoming mixtape, Movies On Demand 2. Enjoy!
