
2 Chainz soars to the number-one spot with his debut release Based On A T.R.U. Story
2 Chainz has planted his flag at the top of the charts with his solo debut album on Def Jam, Based On A T.R.U. Story. Cementing him as a powerbroker in the hip-hop industry.
HDD reports that the the College Park native has hit top billing on the charts selling a reported 145,809 copies of Based On A T.R.U. Story. The artist formerly known as Tity Boi, dethroned Now That's What I Call Music 43 from the top of the charts. 2 Chainz shattered sales expectations, which estimated the artist would sell somewhere between 135,000 to 140,000 copies. Fellow Def Jam artist Rick Ross's God Forgives I Don't, takes a fall down the charts this week from two to three, despite moving 41,186 units this week alone. The highly acclaimed album from Queensbridge's own Nas "Life Is Good", also falls this week from 14 to 21 selling around 15,551 unit this week.
It's safe to say that 2 Chainz has exceeded expectations for his debut album, showing that the South still plays a major role the industry.
