Shape posted April 5, 2012

Straight off the Pretty Lights Label, Gramatik brings us yet another fresh album. This one is titled #DigitalFreedom and the track heard here is called “Fist Up.” This is the first track on the album and it really starts off with bang. Gramatik takes a little different route on this LP, using more dubstep techniques and banging beats. Check out this track, along with all of the album’s other tracks, which can be found on the Pretty Lights Web Site. Enjoy ya’ll!

Project Aspect “Mopping The Carpet”

Shape posted April 4, 2012

Coming from 1320 Records, Project Aspect throws it down with his new album titled Time Capsule. Kind of reminds me of Big Gigantic a little bit, with mad electronic flow and background bass. I’m digging this track, which is called “Mopping The Carpet.” Take a listen, and catch the rest of the tracks for downloading pleasure at 1320records.com.

Papadosio Interview with Gowhere Hip Hop

Shape posted April 2, 2012

Had a chance to sit down with some members of Papadosio prior to their show at the Bottom Lounge in Chicago. The show was great, and it was a privilege to meet these guys. Take a peak as they get into detail about their origins, music, lighting and much more. Keep on the look out for more interviews coming your way…!

Bassnectar “Blow”

Shape posted March 23, 2012

Definitely my favorite Bassnectar song right here. Titled “Blow” this track has a funk nasty meshed up flow along with some nice glitch touches. This is one of Lorin’s more hip hop based tracks and it simply never gets old. Bassnectar hits up the CHI for a two night run this coming April at the infamous Congress Theater. Tickets are sold out, but if you have a chance to get your hands on one, you best be going. Enjoy people!

The Polish Ambassador “Bang RMX” (Rye Rye)

Shape posted March 21, 2012

Once again, The Polish Ambassador does it up with another album, part 2 of the Homeboys In Outer Space saga. This is one of the highlights off the LP, a remix of Rye Rye‘s “Bang. Check out PA’s new album, along with the rest of his music at 1320records.com. He keeps bringing the heat and I highly recommend adding him to your music library. Stay on the look out for an interview with the Ambassador, himself!

Thievery Corporation “The Heart’s A Lonely Hunter”

Shape posted March 21, 2012

Here’s a track from Thievery Corporation, made up of Eric Hilton and Rob Garza. Combined, these two put on quite a show, using Brazilian and Jamaican roots combined with trance rock and dubstep. They top it off with full fledged party on stage, using various musicians, dancers and singers. “The Heart’s A Lonely Hunter” uses a great mixture of sounds, ultimately showing their versatility and bringing the best out of these guys. The first time I listened, it instantly became a true favorite. Put those headphones on for this one.

Bassnectar “Somesing RMX” (STS9)

Shape posted February 14, 2012

Here we have Bassnectar‘s take on STS9‘s song titled “Somesing.” Originally a pretty laid back, yet funky track, Bassnectar puts his own touches on this one for a short but sweet RMX. STS9 tends to put out albums in which they get many different artists to throw down remixes of their tracks and Lorin usually has some of the best ones. Take a gander!
