Talib Kweli "Push Thru" f/ Curren$y & Kendrick Lamar (prod. S1)

It didn't take long after Big Nickel posted the preview today for "Push Thru" to, well, push thru to the interwebs above. Talib Kweli links up with a couple of hot rhymers at the moment in Curren$y & Kendrick Lamar and S1, who provides a solid backdrop on the production. Now that I set the table, does it deliver? The answer is simply, yes. Curren$y sets the tone and kicks things off with a solid verse for the more lyrical heads Kweli and Kendrick to take over, in that order. It's a toss up to me about which verse I like best of the latter two; I loved how Kweli ended his, citing the people in Tunisia fighting for freedom. And then Kendrick just killed it with both lyrics and his usual ear-catching delivery throughout. His first few bars especially are just lethal with substance and diction. And as a bonus, I enjoy any reference to planking with Kendrick finishing his verse with such. Needless to say, it's an easy *Tibs Fav.™ that could have hit all-caps status if for a hook and production that resonated a little more powerfully. This is the first preview of Kweli's upcoming mixtape, Prisoner Of Consciousness, and it's quite the way to get on the right foot!
