Yes, health infrastructure was a glaring omission. As one twitterer remarked, sexually transmitted diseases are ravaging youth in Nigeria at unprecedented rates, yet, no one bothered to ask about this issue because simply it is a non-issue to those involved. The debate audience featured young celebrities and Lagosian/Abujan socialites who are far removed from the health care plight of the average Nigerian youth. As long as such people continue to unilaterally control the terms of political discourse in Nigeria (young and old alike who can afford to send ailing family members abroad) healthcare infrastructure will continue to receive the shortend of the stick.Nigerian healthcare professionals (and members of ANPA) are at a unique position to advocate on behalf of the average Nigerian citizen in that they are more aware of the issues on ground and have the intellectual chops to engage with Nigerian elitist culture.
