Live From The Underground finally dropped today as the debut studio album from rapper Big K.R.I.T. and he definitely lets you know that he's from the Dirty South. The album features the likes of other southern rappers 2 Chainz, 8Ball & MGJ, Ludacris, Devin the Dude and more. My favorite guest is probably B.B. King who shows up at the end on "Praying Man," and the combination of BK with the soulful King works really well together, so check out that along with "Pull Up," featuring Bun B & Big Sant, as my two favs off the album. I've been highly anticipating this effort by K.R.I.T. because I love the way that his voice maintains a raspy quality even though it's delivered so crisply. While I've heard better from K.R.I.T. from a lyrical standpoint, the production of the album is pretty solid overall (although I wish it was a little funkier, ya know?). Cop Live From The Underground on iTunes or stream it on NPR here and determine for yourself if it stands up to his previous releases.
