Tarik Adams is a dope up and coming singer/rapper, hailing from Kentucky, but one we met for the first time in Chicago a couple weeks back when he came through with Khaled M. to the office. Khaled's good words, mixed with hearing the music ourselves from Tarik that day, made us all a fan and we hope to pay it forward with this spotlight on his debut mixtape, Tigers & Girls, released in the fall of 2011.

The mixtape showcases a lot of versatility from Tarik. He mainly sings across a series of well-produced, edgy, and dark productions (all courtesy of Feel Free C + B. Conceptually, Tigers & Girls illustrates the positives and negatives of all you ladies out there, as even exemplified in the cover art which he designed himself. It shows the pristine face of a girl, who at one moment can flip down a tiger mask and be that girl who can drive a man crazy (and not that good kind of crazy, hah). A few of my favorites include the upbeat "Wake Up", "Va$htie", and "Runway Runaway" (which has that Weeknd feel to it for fans of him), in addition to the two highlighted below. Peep the video for "Heaven Only Knows" and the download for "Fallen Love" - the latter of which is perhaps my favorite *Tibs Fav.™ of the tape.
