QuESt 'Fear Not Failure' [Mixtape]

Features 13 NEW Tracks! (Tracklist after the jump!)

Fear Not Failure. The next must-download mixtape here on GWHH and it comes courtesy of QuESt, who continues to first and foremost evolve his sound and artistry whilst continuing to express a variety of relatable and emotional lyrics.

"Uhh, nothing like you've ever heard. Still, I take my chances, I ain't never scurred." That's how QuESt begins track #3 and my new #1 pump-up jam "F*** You Think This Is?" and man, does that line represent a lot about Fear Not Failure?! The sound is, yes indeed, nothing like you've ever heard - a mix of break-neck flows, thought-provoking lyricism, rapping and singing, and powerful hip hop/dubstep fusions that lack any flaws in its execution. The beats throughout Fear Not Failure are ever-changing and feature a wide range of twists and turns, perhaps best personified with "F*** You Think This Is?", which is one entertaining roller coaster ride for your ears.

But let me not get ahead of myself... tracks 1 and 2: "Nothing To Fear" and last week's lone preview "Gambler" establish the high energy and first tackles the common motif of 'fear' as one would expect from the titles. One journey from beginning to end and you can really sense QuESt overcoming fears and failures that we ourselves can parallel with. Meanwhile, "Nowhere To Go" follows the three tracks above and makes it 4 for 4 as he tabs Logic for a collab of young emcees we think have a bright future here at GWHH. This one talks about rising above and staying true to ourselves and is another well-produced banger.

A few more *Tibs Favs.™ to look out for: how about the relationship-centric "One Way" (and you just want it all one way? Your way, your way...) or the more heartwarming "I Go You Go"? Other notables are the other two features on Fear Not Failure in AG Lyonz with a ear-ringing chorus on "What Is It Like?" and Mickey Factz on the previously released bonus cut, and jam still to this day and beyond - "Something To Prove".

QuESt closes the mixtape with the chaotic and then therapeutic "Alone Tonight" and "Darkest Before The Dawn". Both cap off a well-flowing mixtape that really has NO misses throughout. Additionally, the thumping, sometimes dark aesthetics across Fear Not Failure have been a fitting nighttime listen for me as I digested my advance copy the past few days. Taking it a step further, I think it can become the soundtrack to a long late night drive or even a virtual drive in a game like Twisted Metal - which I'm now inspired to play with the TV on mute and the Fear Not Failure blaring, hah! Emphasis on 'Fear Not Failure blaring' - I couldn't suggest this enough to you and hope you follow suit and turn the speakers up on QuESt's latest above! And with that, I'll outro this post on QuESt's powerful outro himself...

"Don't be afraid to fail. Failure doesn't keep us away from what we desire in this world. Fear does. Fear is the absence of love. The absence of trust. The absence of belief. It is fear that destroys us. To embrace failure is to embrace growth. It is fear, not failure, that holds us back."
- QuESt "Darkest Before Dawn"
