Bassnectar @ Congress Theater [Review]

Anybody that was at The Congress Theater this Saturday can say they saw one of the best Bassnectar shows they've ever seen, regardless of how many times they've seen him. He came on stage at 11:00 and didn't leave once til the show was completely over at 1:30 AM. He didn't even go off for an encore, he just played straight through for 2 and a half hours. In those 2.5 hours he played new tracks, classic old ones, and everything in between. He opened with thirty seconds of Beethoven's 5th symphony, which he uses regularly as an intro, directly into one of his most popular songs, "Wildstyle Method." That intro got the crowd going wild. After that he played his patented anthem, "Basshead." If you ever want to see a bunch of people go absolutely insane, go see what it's like when Bassnectar plays Basshead that early in a show. Absolute pandemonium. From there on out it was a rowdy throwdown of non stop bass, including "Vavavoom" f/ Lupe Fiasco, the title track off of his new album. The night finally came to an end when he closed the show with another one of his staples and fan favorites, "Pink Elephants." All in all after seeing at least ten Bassnectar shows, this one is definitely in my top two. If you haven't had the chance to see this guy lately, make it out to Electric Forest or Lollapalooza and check this show out, it'll blow your mind. Check out the video above of "Vavavoom".
