UPDATE: Dirty, NO DJ
New Nas "The Don". That has a good ring to it doesn't it? Well, so does the song itself. This one's a heater produced by the late Heavy D, Salaam Remi, and hometown producers Da Internz, who prove with their contribution here their versatility beyond some of their more recent mainstream hits ("Dance (A$$)", "Cake"). In fact, I love the little breakdown into the last verse and the 'New York City' sample that acts as a raw chorus proceeding the "Nas the don" line really works as well. Finally, Nas' verses. They appeal to his hometown New Yorker and also talk about his personal come-up and reflection now 20 years in the game. There's a dope tribute lyric at the end of the second verse as well for Heavy D. All in all, we got a *Tibs Fav.™ on our hands as we can expect "The Don" to be the first street single off Nas' upcoming album through Def Jam later this year. Tagged and stream only for now above (shouts 2 Flex).
