GY312 x GWHH Open Submissions for ‘The Scottie Pippen Tape’

GY312 posted February 6, 2012

I hear a lot of folks talking about how Chicago doesn’t support one another like other cities and what not. While there may or may not be some truth to that is a moot point. Truthfully, I don’t care to focus on the negative. Stop all that complaining and send me some heat. Asaptual. With that being said, I think it’s time to finally open submissions for The Scottie Pippen Tape. I had an idea a year ago that revolved around a project that would help shine a light on the crib’s most snoozed on talent. That and also strengthening the current wave of those already popping. Chicago. The Second City, but legendary–Hence the Scottie Pippen reference, ladies and gentlemen. Pip was always slept-on, even in all his greatness. With this tape, I am searching for strong up and coming emcees from the Chi who embody this concept. Side note: I think Chicago is first, actually. I’m digressing now. Here are the particulars for the mixtape:

1) Send email with your name, rap name, song MP3 with title, and twitter handle here — newgrooves@GY312.com
2) Send your BEST original song. I don’t need 10 tracks from you, bruh.
3) The deadline for submissions is February 15th. That’s it. For those that have already sent songs and original beats–congrats! I’m not talking about y’all.
4) If myself or the Gowhere staff like what we hear, then you’ll get a response from us via email.
5) The artwork is nice right? My dude Suli did it. The tracklist art work is even colder. If you’re picked, you’ll see what i’m talking about.

That’s it. Hit your mans up and tell him to get right. I’m looking for some dope new producers and female emcees on this project also. Where are you?? Send those grooves. Follow me on Twitter: @GY312.

P.S. Be on the lookout for the next #GrooveSeries this Thursday at The Shrine. Sy Smith and Zo of the Foreign Exchange Music fam, Add-2, Phil G, GWHH’s own Jeff Baraka, and Obi Soulstar. It’s free with a RSVP (theshrinechicago.com). Aight I’m gone.
