2012 Grammy Recap [Video]

Sgt. Tibs posted February 13, 2012

Here we have a recap and some commentary of Grammy night as a whole. As you can see in the posts below, I got the spotlight on two of the most talked about performances of the evening, but of course, we also gotta spotlight the rest of the talented performers from the biggest night in music. Taking the lead above is none other than the biggest winner of the evening: Adele who sings a stirring rendition of the song and record of the year: “Rolling In The Deep”. Congrats to her on all of the well-deserved awards. Her music was really so universal this past year and it’s great to see that rewarded. Another big winner of the night was Kanye West, who won Best Rap Album for My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, Best Rap Performance (“Otis” with Jay-Z), Best Rap Song, and Best Rap Song Collaboration (“All Of The Lights”). Although he and Jay were noticeably absent from the night itself, congrats on those well-deserved awards as well. Now I don’t take these awards as the end-all, be-all about what was the best in 2011, but the one that bothered me the most was Chris Brown‘s Fame beating out R. Kelly‘s Love Letter as R&B Album of the Year. I mean, “Look At Me Now” (clearly an R&B song, right?) was the song that ushered in Chris to take the stage. Nothing against Chris because I still enjoy much of his music, but Kellz shoulda taken that one home.

Alas, after the jump, we can find more of the night’s performances featuring (in order) Jennifer Hudson (brought back), Nicki Minaj (ditto), Alicia Keys & Bonnie Riatt, Chris Brown, Rihanna & Coldplay, Bruno Mars, and finally: David Guetta, Chris Brown, Lil Wayne, Foo Fighters & Deadmau5. Plus, an acceptance speech from Melanie Fiona for Best Traditional R&B Performance for “Fool With You” with Cee-Lo Green and an added red carpet interview with Lupe Fiasco, J. Cole, and their mothers. Watch and enjoy! What did you think of the Grammys last night??
