Melanie Fiona “This Time” f/ J. Cole

Sgt. Tibs posted February 29, 2012

Another dope new jam from Melanie Fiona‘s upcoming album, The MF Life, as she enlists J. Cole for what is said to be her next single, “This Time”. Melanie sings about how this time she’ll get it right between her and her man over a groove of a production. I also really like J. Cole’s verse that addresses Melanie and wonders where they could go from there. Definitely some universal appeal as well to “This Time” so I can see yet another *Tibs Fav.™ of the recent Grammy-winner not only winning over her longtime fans, but also makin’ some noise on a mass level. By the way, is it me or does the stream that surfaced tonight not sound CDQ? Either way, get the full preview above and cop the album for what’s sure to be the CDQ version on March 20th.

Joell Ortiz “Can’t Stop The Prophet” [Tags]

Sgt. Tibs posted February 29, 2012

Joell Ortiz “Can’t Stop The Prophet” (or somethin’ like that) on this new freestyle/remix. He gets pretty crafty with some lines here but it won’t stick like the latest track with his Slaughterhouse cohorts (see: below). Flex bombs for now.

T.I. announces Trae Tha Truth signing with Grand Hustle

Sgt. Tibs posted February 29, 2012

T.I. went live with the news that Trae Tha Truth is signing to his Grand Hustle record label. My intuition tells me this is a great fit and Trae, T.I., and Co. will definitely cook up some southern heaters, assuredly in the near future.

Treated Crew “All Black”

Kuda posted February 29, 2012

Let me just start off by saying this is straight fire! What we have here is the debut track from Chicago’s Treated Crew titled “All Black”. This Chi-town crew is something I urge all of you to not miss out on and that you should definitely hear these artists out, consisting of (in order of song verse) Million $ Mano, Gzus Piece, Caleb James, Chance The Rapper, and Mic Terror. This track’s beat and verses are incomparable to anything I’ve heard recently and nothing less than DOPE. Now enough said already, just take the listen and thank me later. TREATED!

Chiddy Bang Talks ‘Breakfast’ With Muve Music [Video]

Kuda posted February 29, 2012

Ah yes, I have been waiting a long time for this, as the buzz that’s been circulating around one of my favorite duo’s in Chiddy Bang has heightened rightly-so due to the recent drop of their debut album ‘Breakfast’. Thanks to our friends over at Muve Music, they took some time out to  sit down with Xaphoon Jones and Chiddy to discuss some of the tracks on the debut album and the writing process for it. During this interview, Muve got the scoop on the “intro” track and interesting enough, Xaph talks about how he walked around London just recording the city noises with a tape recorder and mixing it together. So next time you hear the the intro, remember those are live sounds of the London city life. Now that’s true artistry! Also, they spoke in depth about other tracks on the album such as “Ray Charles”,”Mind Your Manners”, and “Breakfast”. So do yourself a favor and take a deeper dive into this “feel good” album by hitting play above and fulfill your breakfast hunger. Let me just say that this album is “pretty much amazing”.
