Rotimi “Hello” f/ Mickey Factz [Music Video]

Sgt. Tibs posted August 31, 2011

Here goes a fresh new collab we’re happy to see come together at Gowhere as longtime readers know we’ve been big supporters of both Rotimi & Mickey Factz over the years. Above, the budding R&B star (and actor in the new Kelsey Grammer series ‘Boss’ oh by the way) and the NYC emcee link up for the first time in the new music video premiering on MTVu for “Hello”. The song itself is a sweet, feel-good record for the ladies especially, which is illustrated in the video with Rotimi daydreaming about a future with a waitress he’s enamored with on first sight. Mickey joins Rotimi for the performance scenes and drops a fresh verse paralleling the courtship concept of Rotimi’s beginning. Then the structure of the record continues to take a unique turn with Rotimi’s best solo effort coming in the last verse/breakdown. I especially dig the ending of both the song and the video, which punctuates “Hello”‘s aforementioned sweetness. Definitely a *Tibs Fav.™ for the rotation as both R&B and hip hop fans alike should find some appreciation in this new audio/visual experience. Head on over to MTVu and check out the rest of this week’s crop of ‘The Freshman’. And if you can’t find somethin’ that tops “Hello”, then vote for Rotimi & Mickey to rock their rotation!

Emilio Rojas “100 Million Dreams” f/ Gilbere Forte’

Check this hot new track from New York rapper Emilio Rojas. His flow on this song and the honesty of his lyrics instantly made me hit the repeat button on my iTunes. I personally hope there’s a video for this on the horizon, and if there is we’ll be the first to let you know. Enjoi.

Obie Trice “New Day RMX”

Sgt. Tibs posted August 31, 2011

Obie Trice dedicates a new verse to his late mother, fittingly over The Throne’s “New Day”, as you can’t help but feel the emotion displayed on wax here. A *Tibs Fav.™ for sure.

BJ The Chicago Kid “Heartless” f/ iyeball (of Fly.Union) & Pro Blackk

Sgt. Tibs posted August 31, 2011

For this week’s flip, BJ The Chicago Kid takes on Fly.Union‘s “Heartless” and adds some fresh new verses and his unique vocal stylings to the mix for an instant *Tibs Fav.™ that I’ma be bumpin’ in the rotation for the immediate future. Diggin’ BJ’s flow as well, in addition to the composition of the vocals with the production from beginning to end. And that “the ’98 Bulls, ya’ll n****z the Pistons” line is not a bad one either, hah!

UPDATE: Features & iyeball (of Fly.Union) & Pro Blackk exactly.

T.I. released from prison

Sgt. Tibs posted August 31, 2011

This morning, T.I. took to Twitter to exclaim the joy of his release from prison today and begin a new chapter in his life. Says MTV, “Serving 11 months as a result of a drug possession charge while on probation, T.I. had the good fortune of being released a month early,” … “Unconfirmed reports say T.I. will be confined to a community living facility to serve the remainder of his sentence.”

Hopefully, and assuredly once Tip gets settled, we know he’ll be in the studio. He has been hinting at going back to the Trap Muzik sound with his new music, so Tip fans out there, how would you feel about that?
