Gowhere Hip Hop Interviews Wale

Maks G posted January 24, 2010

Earlier tonight we were one of select Chicago media to speak with D.C. based MC Wale moments before he took the Regal Theater stage for the Sprite Step Off! Wale proved to be a personable, down to earth guy as he covered topics ranging from his upcoming music videos, Chicago love, 2K10 plans, music he listens to, and his inspirations. I could really feel his passion in his work as Wale plans to fund many of his future videos out of his own pocket while confidently continuing to promote his debut album, Attention Deficit
I was most touched by his commentary on how he finds inspiration from fellow Roc Nation artist Melanie Fiona. They kept contact from the beginning of their rising careers, boosting each other’s mental attitudes and supporting each other in moments of doubt. You always need that special teammate to help pick you up with words of encouragement, and boost you up when everything seems dark. After reading Wale’s comments on love and now hearing his compassionate commentary, I walk away with an added level of respect. At the end of the day, we’re all people both gleeful and dark.
Big shouts go to Danielle N. & Alonzo B. of Sprite for making this all possible. Keep it locked right here at Gowhere in the coming days for even more coverage!
