Kanye West “Love Lockdown”
VIDEO PREMIERE!
The official Love Lockdown video premiered on the Ellen Generes show today! (Shouts to lld in our jabbify) The video has a very modern & contemporary feel to it, which I personally love right off the bat. I love our modern age; it has so much more potential for exploration, but not many people in the music business are choosing to explore it yet. It’s very classy of Ye to come out with something like this…even though he has only begun to scratch the surface in this type of medium. This video reminds me of Homecoming a lil bit in terms of the modern abstract feel to it. I definately loved the small play with shadows at the begining of the clip (0:41 - 0:43), and thought/wished that would’ve been explored more. My favorite part would have to be the subtle watery refelections of light on the army of tribesmen (3:00 - 3:25). The juxtpostition of their small scale but sheer numbers to that of the huge, exotic, and perfect Amazon women is just perfect! I also enjoyed the shot of Kanye sitting in the corner juxtpostioned next to a tribesman with no face (2:45 - 2:52); I think it catches me aesthetically, but I haven’t figured out what it’s doing conceptually yet…. Any thoughts on this video?
