Whoo, Chris Brown comes thru with another sweet video for his latest single “Forever”, which will be on the Exclusive: Forever Edition re-release of his 2007 album due out June 3rd! I was in love w/ this track since the first listen and it’s definitely going 2 blow up and become an early summer anthem for 2008. The video above should definitely help the cause as CB pulls out some more of his usual smooth dance moves amidst a bevy of effects (the fountain one was real cool!). Below, check out some LIVE videos featuring Common & Alicia Keys as well as a Gnarls Barkley premiere! (Damn, Letterman is getting some good music lately, haha!) Enjoy!
A ton of NEW trax in 2day’s update, but the feature track is a type of track that you are likely familiar with already - a Mash-Up! I personally LOVE Mash-Ups, but most of them are not that good. The one above is an exception as the Casely vocals on his hit single “Emotional” is combined with Ne-Yo’s hook and StarGate’s beat on the soon-2-be hit single “Closer”. It offers listeners a NEW take on both songs and I personally like it a lot. DL above and judge for yourself. Below, you can find the various NEW R&B and hip hop, but the Ghostface Killah “Charlie Brown RMXs” warrant some mentioning. It’s a series of 4 trax that was sent 2 a select few of us 2 share by 4 different DJs remixing the song by the Wu Tang Clan member. I sincerely enjoy all 4 as they all have a completely different sound from one another and you should check those out as well. I also put up the “Flashing Lights RMX” f/ R. Kelly that was requested, but I could not locate one without all the DJ shoutouts. Still a good track tho if u are a fan of either. Enjoy!
As you can tell above, you can peep the latest in music videos as “We Made It” headlines the group. The song and video were released in the same day! How crazy is that? Well, I had a feeling the video would follow the song very quickly since it was already shot and Busta’s been trying 2 keep his tracks on the down low. Quick note: my main internet connection is unbearably slow and I’ll have some new trax for ya guys 2morrow for sure. Anyway, my buddy and I were talkin’ late last nite about various music topics and one of them was about one of our all-time favorites - John Legend - and his upcoming album due in September. We read this interview below that gives some information about the trax on his album and it is definitely looking 2 be very different than his previous 2 with more pop/mainstream beats and a more fun vibe to his CD. We agreed that it could be a mistake if he doesn’t stay true to himself, but I personally like the direction the album is going and I’m predicting his collabo with Andre 3000 will hit the Top 10. Check out the track descriptions below and full interview HERE!
Green Light ft Andre 3000-sounds futuristic with tapping drums and John singing “give me the green light, give me just one night…I’m ready to go right now” and Andre hopes that “you’re more like Anita Baker than Robin Givens.” Anything with Dre makes us smile.
Satisfaction-producer will.i.am pops out the synthy chords and melodious chorus and John’s asking “can I get me some satisfaction?” over rising keys. Ehn…
Everybody Knows- got some stabbing drums, guitar strums, layered chorus that swells as Mr. Legend sings “I wish we gave it one more try.”
No Other Love ft Estelle- reggae beat, estelle = niceness
Cross The Line-producer will.i.am broke out the Three6 Mafia drums on this one. Ae you guys sure you didn’t hit the strip club John?
Good Morning-ok, John played this joint twice and wouldn’t let us talk or take notes. What we can say is that this jam is all about good morning loving. PARLOUR COSIGN.
Aim High-here we’re back to classic john, through acoustic instruments and surprisingly, The Neptunes produced it. we don’t think the duo made the Once Again credits so it’s good to see The Neptunes and John back together again.

That’s right - TWO featured trax for ya that deserve the spotlight. As promised, T.I. drops a brand new track 2day that will be on his upcoming album Paper Trail that he should be releasing later this year. He’s been hard at work recording while at house arrest and in light of all the legal troubles, the song above reflects those hardships and T.I. slows down the flow and pours out some emotion on the track. I’m really feelin’ this one - don’t expect a banger, just expect the emergence of a new T.I., forever changed after his weapons charges last fall. Also above, is the highly-anticipated full version of the Busta Rhymes/Linkin Park collaboration called “We Made It”. You knew I was going 2 flip for the full version after the amazing snippets I posted earlier and yeah, I am now happy and content 2 have the full version ready 2 go for you guys! They already shot the video for the track so expect 2 see more of “We Made It” on MTV, BET, and throughout radio stations across the nation in the coming future. Finally 2 round out the new trax below, check out a NEW, HOT RMX of Cassie’s biggest hit “Me & U” with R&B crooner, Casely. Videos galore as well as we got 3 video premieres for u 2 peep as well as performances from The Roots who were LIVE on Letterman promoting their new album Rising Down out in stores 2day! Also be sure 2 support Estelle if you’re in the States as her album Shine should be in major stores across the country 2day as well! Enjoy!
This was one of my most anticipated album of 2008, Del The Funky Homosapien comes out strong with “ELEVENTH HOUR”. From the beginning to the end this album brings out the creativity and versatility(yes, he can speak Japanese and spit rhymes about video games, hes cool like that) of this definitive jux artist. Peep his myspace and a track off his newest album “Hold Your Hand”!
The above live performance is simply a must-see. Lupe straight up rips it word for word on my favorite track from Lupe Fiasco’s The Cool and Nikki Jean provides the nice, soulful chorus. Their energy really gets the crowd going and you can tell as the song progresses 2 the very end. I had 2 watch that another time myself, haha. A few notes on the NEW trax below… really feelin’ the Taio Cruz/Estelle RMX and “War Is Necessary”, which I’m re-posting with the CDQ version. The “Flashing Lights” track is the Glow In The Dark Version, which is not live, but CDQ and features a slight, yet interesting take on the track, that I’m sure sounds 10x better if that is used when he performs it in his show. Finally, the Jay-Z track is an interesting one as he fired back at DeShawn Stevenson in support of his boy LeBron James - in fact, it is one of the strangest, most entertaining feuds (LeBron & DeShawn) that I can remember. There’s a link 2 the full story below the track that is a must-read if you’re interested in the details. Enjoy!
This compilation album released this year is compiled by Toru Hashimoto. No gangsta rap but this album has a lot of potential. Features the best of jazzy hip hop like Kero-One, Funky DL, Sound Providers, and Cyne. The track above is one of my favs from the compilation. Check Cyne’s Myspace HERE
Producer: DonKayvan - FULL, CDQ, Track off upcoming project When The Sun And Moon Collide*Tibs Fav.
The GWHH fans that have been with us since the beginning should remember our sick hip hop producer DonKayvan and he’s back with a NEW track for ya’ll 2 DL above! It’s called “Creeper” and the beat is again somethin 2 nod your head 2. Show him some more love by checking out his MySpace, which contains a TON of exclusive tracks in his media player. And keep it locked 2 GWHH throughout the week when I’ll drop another DK track that’s NOT on his MySpace page. Enjoy!
Producer: Mike Shinoda - Track from 2005 album, The Rising Tied*Tibs Fav.
So a few things inspired me for this installment of Old School Sundays…
My roomy, “Disappointed” let’s call him (refer 2 our CBox there), still has not heard any tracks outside the singles from the Fort Minor CD The Rising Tied that came out in 2005. And I figure that while I still come up with some cool Atmosphere content, he can enjoy the Fort Minor content in the meantime that I told him I just had 2 show him.
This Fort Minor CD is top to bottom one of my all-time favorite CDs and I felt that there are more people like my roommate who have not heard and SHOULD hear some Fort Minor tracks that weren’t floating around mainstream radio at the time.
I came 2 the realization we do not have any content from Mike Shinoda and Fort Minor in our archive and that had to change as soon as possible!
The Linkin Park feature on the upcoming Busta Rhymes track is somethin’ I am really looking forward 2 and my man J.D. over at Hip Hop Update came thru with the snippets the other day. I usually don’t mess around with snippets but I couldn’t resist here and since I mentioned it also in the post below, I figured I should kinda share it as well. You can peep those below. Enjoy!
I happened 2 catch this as it happened on the 24th as Estelle came thru with an awesome performance of her second single “American Boy” (sans Kanye). 2 my knowledge, I haven’t seen it up on our affs, as I was just searching on YouTube for it and found it. I’ll be busy almost all day on Sunday but I got posts that are automatically going up at midnite and 3pm CT so check then for some updates! (Gotta love the new features, haha!) In the meantime, enjoy Estelle’s first appearance on network television 2 promote her new album, Shine, in stores April 29th!
